How low was the Week 24 repeat of Doctor Who on (last ) Sunday? Because it usually shows up. This week (25 ) also showed up. So what’s up????

  2. Matthew See June 13, 2011 at 4:39 am -

Number 3 for Doctor Who that is extremely good.

  3. David @ Green Point June 12, 2011 at 7:12 pm -

I notice that Come Fly With Me (the complete episodes) have been dropped by 9′s Go!.
So if you want it, ya gotta watch the snipped version on 9 at 8.
Sneaky way to lift the shows numbers…

  4. Scott June 12, 2011 at 6:39 pm -

Embarrassingly poor figures for the suberb Outcasts. Sad that such a good program fairs so badly.

Godd to see Doctor Who at number three for the night – a respectable figure for the gand old dame of science fiction.

  5. Boz June 12, 2011 at 4:38 pm -

Hmmm . . . interesting figures but far from complete or even ’national’.

Capitals like Canberra and regions ignored – that’s over 500, 000 in the Canberra region alone.

Figures are also only overnight/live to air views and don’t include people who recorded a show and watched it within a week. And there are no figures included for other increasingly popular means of watching such Iview.

All of which adds up to a systemic bias against some shows and probably the two public broadcasters.

  6. David Knox June 12, 2011 at 3:29 pm -

This should be a balancing act. I don’t mind giving an indication of how a show is performing, but after 2 or 3 weeks of similar figures people should be across how a given show is performing. For more detailed performances of shows every week an OzTAM subscription is a better option.

  7. A. June 12, 2011 at 3:11 pm -

    @ James

I’m asking for the things I’m interested in I’ve never asked for everything. By the way you are not the first to suggest things and it adds up sometimes to feel like I’m being attacked for interest in how some shows are rating. I guess in future I might just ask and if people want to comment that’s their deal. Not mine.

  8. Ryano June 12, 2011 at 2:31 pm -

Good night for AFL on Ten/One getting the 6th most watched program in he ratings last night combined, despite a thrashing of the Gold Coast dampening the Brisbane market.
If One covered AFL from next year and Ten showed alternative programming (family programming) the network would start winning Saturday nights.
It all rides on Mr Murdoch’s decision to buy AFL rights off Seven. Unfortunately the Ten Chief has a large conflict of interest in not doing so, and it’s unlikely to happen.

  9. James June 12, 2011 at 1:33 pm -

    @a
Top 50 daily are listed and a handful of selected titles.
If you’re suggesting David list the full ratings list it’ll be in excess of 200 titles…all for the tiny handful that need to know how unpopular titles rate.
Also, Referring to ‘attack’ A suggestion and observation does not an attack make…. even if you use it 3 times in your post.

  10. Craig June 12, 2011 at 1:24 pm -

Love the twist at the end of Doctor Who, and now we have months to wait for the rest of the season…

  11. A. June 12, 2011 at 1:09 pm -

I probably overreacted in the previous comment. But all I ask of people here is can they just accept others for being interested in the ratings of TV shows you may not care about? Also that since it’s on topic and relevant to the section that they didn’t come here to be harassed about it. At least I didn’t. I don’t see how wanting more information is a bad thing. I like friendly discussions and disputes but not attacks. I know most of you don’t have a problem with that. I guess you can’t please everybody.

  12. A. June 12, 2011 at 12:39 pm -

    @ James

Funnily enough this section is called the ratings section so I guess it’s considered strange to ask for the ratings? I’ll admit if the shows I’m interested in just showed up without my asking then I wouldn’t ask. I wouldn’t need to. But sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. If they don’t then I ask for them. Another strange thing is I accept that other people aren’t interested in the programmes I like and I don’t criticise them for what they do like. But I guess you consider yourself special and that you can attack people for having the audacity to be interested in something you’re not. So I ask are you ever going to accept there are different people with different things they like? Because if not then you will surely attack a lot of people for not thinking the same way as you. Or is it being too audacious when someone is being on topic in the correct section not to be attacked in that section? I don’t mind discussions and even friendly disputes. All I ask is for the courtesy of accepting that if I ask for the ratings in the rating section it is just someone asking for something they are interested in and not an open invitation to attack them.

Sorry David for another controversy as well as the length and having you waste time on it. My aim is just to get the facts not cause trouble.

  13. Ryano June 11, 2011 at 7:01 pm -

Friday night AFL is down significantly from past years in Perth and Adelaide. Not many people can tolerate delayed sport anymore.
Im a massive AFL fan but I never watch Friday Night football anymore.

  14. James June 11, 2011 at 6:56 pm -

    @ Bob.
Enjoying NRL matches and watching the NRL Footy Show is chalk and cheese. The only reason why the show is still running is Gyng is mates with Fatty.
It loses money and only rates around half of what Matty Johns did last year.

  15. James June 11, 2011 at 6:47 pm -

    @A.
Get yourself a subscription to Oztam instead of continually asking the same questions about minority show ratings.
When a site is on hiatus you’d expect peeps to stop and question whether this info is necessary or just downright intrusive.

  16. bob scarlett June 11, 2011 at 6:20 pm -

    @ Moanique in Brisbane
Im not trying to convince people to watch the NRL Footy Show, im trying to say to people how can you watch shows like Greys Anatomy or Law & Order if you can watch those shows another time or on the computer. With the Footy Show its Live and Funny (but i guess people here in Sydney and Brisbane dont like funny entertaining jokes like Melbourne do) so dont tell me im convincing all of you people because im not!!!, i said if people in Sydney and Brisbane are NRL fanatics like how they say they are they should watch the Footy Show like how Melbourne watch their funny AFL version!!! Thats All I Said!!!

  19. Billy June 11, 2011 at 1:29 pm -

Today has now nationally won 3 out of the 5 days this week. Looking at the figures i think this is the first weekly win Today has had over Sunrise in years.

  20. A. June 10, 2011 at 11:46 pm -

Thanks David for the channels info. Um I don’t want to annoy you but wrong “Star” or sci-fi show i.e. Star Trek not Stargate. Although thank you I am interested in that too. I hope it doesn’t mean you posted when exhausted or something. If it was due to distraction I hope it was because of something you enjoy.

  21. Joe June 10, 2011 at 11:02 pm -

Alarm bells must be ringing at the NRL Show. Makes me wonder if the money generated from the AFL Footy Show helps keep the NRL Show a float? It’s hard to see the NRL Show surviving without the AFL Footy Show, whereas if the NRL show were to end the AFL Footy Show could easily fund itself.

  22. David Knox June 10, 2011 at 10:19 pm -

    Stargate Universe was 174,000.

  23. Phoenix June 10, 2011 at 9:53 pm -

@JB — I agree with some of your points re. Grey’s Anatomy. The dead Danny episodes weren’t the best, and last night’s musical episode was truly awful. Shonda Rhimes desperately needs lessons from Joss Whedon (Buffy and Angel) on how to create a masterful musical episode.

However, those segments aside — plus a few others — GA continues to generally be a witty, engaging and enthralling show filled with well-developed characters, strong relationships and interesting stories. It’s still going strong for a show in its 7th year, and I personally prefer its overarcing stories to the standalone episodes of most cop and crime shows.

  24. JB June 10, 2011 at 9:00 pm -

Personally i think Grey’s Anatomy got crap years ago with the dead Denny storyline and gave up watching it, until the sshooting episode which was one of the best single episodes of a tv show i’ve ever seen. But caught some of last night’s musical and it was absolutely atrocious. Surely it’s officially jumped the shark after that.

  25. bob scarlett June 10, 2011 at 6:37 pm -

How can you prefer to watch shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and Law & Order and etc over the Live and Funny Footy Show!!!! you guys a weird you people aren’t Fanatic at All!!!!!! and you say that your Fanatic, but i’ll tell you that your not Fanatic. Until we reach Melbourne’s audience then im proud to say that we are Fanatics!!!!!! So Come On!!!!!!!!

  26. bob scarlett June 10, 2011 at 6:24 pm -

    @ John Jackson
Well see there your wrong John Jackson i am not a AFL Footy Show Supporter in fact im a Massive NRL Footy Show Supporter and yes i love Paul Fatty Vautin his the best in the Show!!! all im saying is that im dissapointed because here in Sydney we have the biggest population in Australia and we really go bad compared to Melbourne, So what im saying is that here in Sydney and Brisbane i want you to wake up and start watching the Funniest and the Best TV Show there is to offer!!! So Come On Sydney and Brisbane show your damn Support for the NRL and the Footy Show!!! We need to be fanatic like Melbourne! So Come On!!!!!!!!!!!

    23 6.30 With George Negus Ten 527,000
    24 7.30 ABC1 463,000

Wow. That’s amazing. ABC has blown it big time. I’d be begging Tony Jones to host for a while and restore the “7:30 Report”.

Or beg Kerry to come back. Not that he would.

Or poach Richard Morecroft from SBS to host it. He’d bring the viewers back. Keep Leigh Sales as a co-host.

  28. MJR June 10, 2011 at 3:10 pm -

Good numbers for George and 7PM
Hope they can build on these numbers

  29. MuchoTB June 10, 2011 at 2:47 pm -

SVU was once a good show but has since become preposterous, with producers seeing how many ridiculous twists they can cram into every episode. Sure its better than most crime shows but definitely a shell of what it once was. IMO Law and Order: LA is a hell of a lot better ever since it got rebooted with Alfred Molina as the main detective, shame it got canceled.

The Good Wife has been given a new timeslot of Sundays at 9pm in the States, which shows CBS has faith in the series, as does Ten. Quality wise its miles ahead of SVU, which will probably start losing ratings next season now that Chris Meloni has quit the show.

  30. A. June 10, 2011 at 1:38 pm -

    @ David

How did Star Trek TNG rate please? Also the individual channels? Thanks in advance if or when you can answer. :)

  31. A. June 10, 2011 at 1:31 pm -

    @ bob scarlett

Brisbane and Sydney get a different Footy Show that’s NRL based. I know they used to play it late at night in Melbourne. I don’t know about these days. I’ll admit I used to loathe the overruns on the Melbourne show because I wanted to watch the programmes after Nightline. Although it often meant I watched Seven because of it. But each to their own.

  32. ryan June 10, 2011 at 1:29 pm -

Ten lost the night i rekon mainly cause of their digital channels for thur night. Not many in the top 20

  33. John Jackson June 10, 2011 at 1:24 pm -

@Bob scarlett – I believe the ratings shown for The Footy Show in Sydney and Brisbane, are about a different show to the one you enjoy. The one it seems you love is the AFL version with Sam Newman, whilst the ratings displayed for Sydney and Brisbane I believe are for the NRL version with Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin.

  34. Nik C June 10, 2011 at 12:43 pm -

Any one know why Ch9 appear to be burning off eps of RSO?? I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but two a week seems wasteful, especially in that timeslot, with strong competition!!

  35. steve June 10, 2011 at 12:28 pm -

How did Nine win the night? Besides The Footy Show, everything in their primetime line was beaten by either Seven or TEN. On the primary channel at least

Anyway Yay for L&O SVU! I always believed TEN were wasting their time with having The Good Wife on before L&O. George got a spike in viewers without the encore and Today beat Sunrise??? What’s happening there?

  36. mike June 10, 2011 at 12:18 pm -

Can you please tell me this weeks NRL One Week At A Time and NRL Game Plan Ratings?? Thank You!!!

  37. Craig June 10, 2011 at 12:18 pm -

Did the Polar Bear special push Nine over the edge to win last night?

How is it Nine finds good ratings shows but they are only short lived specials or series with few episodes?

  38. bob scarlett June 10, 2011 at 12:11 pm -

Im so glad that Nine usually always win on Thursday because of the Footy Show.
The Footy Show is the Best! thing on TV!!! Im just a little dissapointed that Sydney and Brisbane viewers are low, way too low compared to Melbourne. Come On Sydney and Brisbane Wake Up your missing the Funniest and Best Show there is to offer on TV!!!!!!!!!!

  39. Johnson June 10, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

Ten had one of its best performing Thursdays this year and still could not win the night.

  40. ryan June 10, 2011 at 11:54 am -

see if ten had listened to us earlier and had svu on @ 8.30 instead of 9.30 they would have reaped alot more benifits by now! Goodwife should have been 9.30! Now they have to listen to us with the burn notice and move it from fridays to wed 9.30. On another note looks like ten finally gave up on negus repeats and 10 l8 news gets nearly 300,000, they should promote 10 late news now to show everyone it’s back!

  41. A. June 10, 2011 at 3:46 am -

    Re: Neighbours

I’ll admit I’m just a viewer of television and not an expert. I haven’t even watched Neighbours after Kylie Minogue left or just after. But according to a Ten spokesperson the British do pay most of the costs.

“Most of the show’s budget is covered by its UK deal with Channel Five and the 50-odd other countries it is seen in, so it’s not a financial problem for Ten despite the low ratings.” In a 7 July 2010 article.

    digitalspy.com.au/soaps/s14/neighbours/news/a239582/neighbours-in-anniversary-ratings-slump.html

Also I read here in another article about Five renegotiating the deal or wanting to pay less; someone in the comments mentioned Ten doesn’t pay for most if not any of the costs. That said I really don’t care too much although I’m glad there are people with jobs. Again I’ll admit I really don’t know from firsthand knowledge which is true. But I see no reason to disbelieve the spokesperson. I hope this is the last thing I’ll write on the subject to be honest.

  42. Andrew June 9, 2011 at 11:34 pm -

Neighbours shouldnt be on a digital where it can’t earn points for Network Ten. If Ten want the 6pm hour for news they should of moved Neighbours to 7:30 on Ten and sacked the dreadful producer Susan Bower, those two factors alone would of increased the ratings for Neighbours.

  43. DAN June 9, 2011 at 8:05 pm -

anyone else find it depressing that TT was the 3rd most watched show and ACA the 5th while quality like George was 28th

  44. Jerome June 9, 2011 at 7:01 pm -

@A the British do not pay for the show. Ten pays a ‘majority share’ of the production costs. Ie: more than 51%. while it was on ten they openly admitted it was only there to collect drama points and whether it made a profit or not was not important, but now that it is on 11 it does not get points.

  47. A. June 9, 2011 at 4:32 pm -

David could you please tell us how Fringe and Spartacus did in their new timeslots. Thank you for this site and what you do here. I’m also glad Fringe did get aired in primetime even if it was slightly unpredictable and wonky. I’m also glad it was on Wednesday. In case some of you don’t know it was the season finale so I won’t ask again for months. If people want to celebrate the happy occasion of no more requests for Fringe figures they can. ;)

  48. A. June 9, 2011 at 4:20 pm -

    @ Adam

I thought Neighbours was mainly paid for by the British. I’ll admit though I don’t see the accounts and so we don’t really know that information.

    @ all Adams

Are you from different states? If so maybe you could use them to identify yourselves that way i.e. Adam from Qld or wherever you are from. Or if you’re from a different compass direction in the state if you come from the same one perhaps if it isn’t good enough. Just a thought.

  49. Harry June 9, 2011 at 4:03 pm -

I watched Glee over Angry Boys last night. Glee was superb; Jane Lynch!

No Gran or Asian Lady = me not watching Angry Boys.

  50. Tbone23 June 9, 2011 at 3:45 pm -

Wow huge drop for Angry Boys.
I was waiting for this when i first heard about it but it’s been a let down.

  51. Michael June 9, 2011 at 2:43 pm -

Angry Boys was better last night in my opinion. Glee is rating better now, shame it’ll be finishing next week. And The Defenders increased from last week’s premiere, maybe incorporating Masterchef in the ad helped?

  52. Adam June 9, 2011 at 2:13 pm -

fyi I’m different from the other Adam who says that Angry boys is terrible…

Angy Boys is excellent. It is not targeted to the masses… just like how United States of Tara and Mad Men aren’t but are still excellent productions

  53. Adam June 9, 2011 at 2:11 pm -

    @ A.

I think we are arguing about different things. I’m arguing that the content on the multi channels is disappointing because the networks are chasing ratings. I’m also arguing that network 10 has been the big loser with multi channels given that their return on investment I think would be the worst. If ch 7 can get 300,000 people to watch a repeat on 7Two and Ten can only get 400,000 on a good day to watch Neighbours… then you tell me who is the winner given the huge discrepancy in costs

  54. Adam June 9, 2011 at 1:49 pm -

Angry Boys really is terrible.. But why do I keep getting excited to tune in every week
