Billy eliminated (again) from MasterChef

Billy Law has became the only contestant to be eliminated twice from MasterChef this year.

Web designer Billy Law, 34, became the only contestant to be eliminated twice from MasterChef this year, after losing out to Kate Bracks last night.

Ellie Paxton-Hall used her Immunity Pin to avoid competing in a dessert challenge, leaving her two competitors to battle it out together.

Pastry chef Katrina Kanetani required the two to create a dessert she names Autumn, consisting of blackcurrant jelly, plum mousse, slow baked rhubarb, cinnamon and rose cannoli, white chocolate and peppermint powder, topped off with edible flowers.

But despite plating up better than Kate, Billy’s food didn’t taste as good as Kate’s.

It was the second time he was eliminated, after re-entering the game when Mat Beyer was kicked out of the series.

“Leaving for the second time gave me the same feeling when I left the first time – a bit of relief and also sadness,” he said. “But to get to the top seven, go to New York and cooking for the Dalai Lama, it was probably the highest point you could get in MasterChef, and I was pretty stoked to be leaving at that point.

“There were no regrets when I closed those doors for the last time and I knew I had made my mark in the MasterChef kitchen.”

Yesterday Billy’s Twitter account alluded to his elimination in a Spoiler ahead of the episode airing.

  1. Congratulations, exit brings you back to a normal life.
When are you going to have your own cafe / bar / restaurant? The dalai hasn’t seen anything yet. Hope one day you will create your own vegetarian dish with some elements from the recipes of chinese ‘ fo tiao qiang’.

  2. i am just wondering why danni got to compette against a swimmer and not a real cheif like everyone else and also why does she get so much help from everyone all the time she sure is a judges favorite not fair there are better cooks than her

  3. i like mastershef but i perfer the block so i watch the block anyway but last night i was just intrested if elllie would use her pin so i came on here but just to let you guys know i think the block is for me – not masterchef

  4. Totally agreed with Darwinite, sad plug from channel nine to get people watching The Block.

I still watched Masterchef, the stereotypes on The Block just drive me nuts :S

  5. I thought it was poor form on ACA’s part to advertise the story in regards to the leaked Tweet from a contestant of Masterchef.

I didn’t like how they used it to plug the Block either. I know that the story of the tweet were on this website as well as other news websites, but at least I had the choice to avoid them. Two seconds into the ACA story the spoiler was blown.

Thanks for spoiling the show Channel 9.

  6. Dani is starting to annoy me now. She hides behind her sunny personality but when it comes down to it, there are a handful of better cooks than her.

She and Ellie should be eliminated in a double elimination, how sweet that would be!

    Go Kate!!!!

  7. I agree with Sue Allen, at least her first paragraph.

It really does look like producers and judges shaping to make “pretty” finals.
Kate is OK, but I really hope Michael wipe their a$$es off next two weeks.

  8. Kate won because her food tasted better. Billy wrecked the mousse, and his jelly has no flavour and hadnt reduced it properly and the flavour in the cream in the cannoli wasnt there. Whereas Kate had all the flavours there. I mean a few herbs on the plate doesnt matter.

I know id rather have a dessert that tasted good and looked bad rather than a dish that was plated really well and didnt taste so good.

    They got it right

  9. Master Chef made it again!!! Choose the contestant they want!!! How can the elimination be fair with Kate not plating up properly, loosing elements, ugly looking but winning???

I had enought of all this!!!! What the show trying to tell us? Even you are good but if they don’t want you, there is no place for you to stand? I thought our country is kind of fair a country, how can they allowed this type of show on air nationally? How you ever explain to the kids? Not fair “is always happened”??? This is misleading and sick!!!
