Call for entries: Foxtel fellowship

Nominations are now open for the annual Foxtel Fellowship which offers $25,000 to a writer to develop a television project.

The Australian Writers’ Foundation is calling for nominations for the annual Foxtel Fellowship which offers $25,000 to a writer.

Now in its fifth year, the fellowship provides a writer with the creative freedom to develop a television project of their choosing. The fellow is chosen for their demonstrated excellence in screenwriting, particularly in the field of television, and a body of work that is impressive in its craft, scope and impact.

In 2010 the fellowship was awarded to Sue Smith (The Leaving of Liverpool, Brides of Christ, R.A.N Remote Area Nurse, My Brother Jack, Fallen Angels and The Cooks).

“The Foxtel Fellowship has allowed me to let my imagination travel into the kind of tricky or confronting territory that I may have felt constrained about under other circumstances,” she said.

Nominations close 5pm Friday 19 August 2011.
