NRL seems to dominate the Pay TV market for TV ratings however AFL dominates the Free to Air market (not to mention crowd figures). In saying that AFL has greater growth prospects within Pay TV as the AFL matches currently shown on Fox Sports are the ‘left over’ matches that Seven/Ten do not want. AFL is still the dominate sport in Australia and it will be interesting to see how AFL rates when the AFL channel makes a return to Foxtel in 2012.

    Wow. What happened to Torchwood?

@ompman…..loved Game of Thrones but it will struggle for big figures as it’s on Showcase not Fox8.

Another impressive result for rugby league.
The upcoming TV deal negotiations must factor in the dominance of rugby league and accordingly, afford rugby league a much more significant dollar value than the other football codes. After all the rugby league has been receiving well under its market value in prior TV contract negotiations.

The consistent and continued rugby league ratings dominance is the proof in the pudding!

With those ratings for Union, you wonder what Nine would’ve got if they’d played it earlier in the non-NRL capitals. RU and RL are two different games and while most of my family and friends are not interested in the NRL, they enjoy watching international rugby.
