Canadian police drama Rookie Blue has been renewed for a third season.

The series, which airs in Australia on 13th Street, has been picked up for 13 new episodes.

The drama follows five ambitious rookie cops as they navigate the emotional trials of their professional and personal lives. Last season the rookies hit the streets for the first time with their training officers and learned how to walk the thin blue line.

Shot entirely on location in Toronto, it features Canadian actors including Missy Peregrym (Reaper, Heroes), Gregory Smith (Everwood), Charlotte Sullivan (M.V.P.), Enuka Okuma (24) and Travis Milne (My Green House) plus Ben Bass (Would Be Kings), Eric Johnson (Smallville), Matt Gordon (Rent-A-Goalie), Noam Jenkins (Flashpoint) and Melanie Nicholls King (The Wire).

In the US it airs on ABC in summer where it finished as the No. 1 for the all-important 18-49 demo in its timeslot.

  1. I generally like Canadian drama, but only watched a couple of episodes of Rookie Blue.
I must just be too old for this one, noting the succesful demographic 18-49 in the US!
    Or maybe it got better….
