Airdate: Brownlow Medal 2011

Seven will use both 7mate and Seven to screen the Brownlow Medal live in three states.

We haven’t even begun finals season in AFL and already Seven has announced details of its broadcast of the The Brownlow Medal for 2011.

To take place on Monday September 26th, this will screen live in the eastern states, on either Seven or 7mate.  In SA it will be delayed by 30 minutes and 75 minutes in WA. The medal count will be hosted by Bruce McAvaney.

Seven is also stepping up its coverage of the Blue Carpet, hosted by Hamish McLachlan with commentary from Rachel Finch, Felicity Harley and Matthew Richardson.

The Brownlow Medal broadcast will feature:
· A tribute to the role of AFL in the community at a local and international level with dual premiership captain Tom Harley.
· ‘Lethal’ Leigh Matthews taking us back to one of his legendary moments.
· Dennis Cometti, Leigh Matthews and Tim Watson presenting round-by-round highlights from the AFL Premiership season.
· A tribute to Australian sporting legends.
· Matthew Richardson roving the floor and chatting with all the stars of the game.

Prior to the official count, Seven will also present an expanded, fashion-focused Brownlow Blue Carpet Special at 7.30pm, hosted by Hamish McLachlan. He will be joined by former Miss Australia Rachael Finch, Women’s Health editor Felicity Harley and crowd favourite Matthew Richardson to see the stars of the AFL and their glamorous partners dressed in the latest haute couture, as they make their way into football’s night of nights.

The Brownlow Blue Carpet Special will also feature an analysis of the best and worst red carpet fashion in sporting award night history and the final verdict on who is the best dressed on the night.

  1. Seriously the AFL is and has not been the VFL since 1982 when South Melbourne went to Sydney. I am Victorian but to delay the telecast in other SA & WA is insulting. Get with the time AFL and Channel 7. Tempted not to watch coz Juddyewill probably win in a landslide anyway. Might

  2. What a bore anyway.Guess chris judd will win ,but its the what are you wearing , who are you wearing red carpet crap that people will tune into.Who cares.

  3. The biggest awards night on the AFL callender The 2011 Brownlow Medal and they dont show it LIvein all centers, what a joke. This should screen Live in SA, WA & VIC on Seven and on Seven Mate for the rest of the nation. I dont understand why the red carpet gets first priority. I think things will be different next year. FOX sports will air the telecast Live even if the Seven Network end up producing it. Then and probably only then will Seven actually show it LIive in all centers. I enjoy watching this but am always disappointed that its rarely ever Live.

  4. Never understood how Seven managed to hoodwink people into thinking that having someone read out some numbers for over an hour was worth watching on TV. It’s like the world’s longest lotto draw. Then again, I have no doubt that if one of the commercial networks were to schedule the test pattern for an hour during prime time, a few hundred thousand would still watch it.

  5. Surely with multi channels this could air live in all states. Last I checked SA and WA were huge AFL markets. So what is the point of delaying it? Ratings or upset the fans? With onlinthe prolific use of the internet these days, if I lived in SA or WA I wouldn’t watch it, but go online for results!!
