Renewed: Eureka

Syfy has renewed Eureka for a sixth season, but only for six episodes fuelling speculation it may be its last.

US cable network Syfy has renewed Eureka for a sixth season, but only for six episodes fuelling speculation it may be its last.

In a statement, Mark Stern, president of programing at Syfy responded to one report by saying: “[Producers] Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia have brought a creative vitality to Eureka that has kept it fresh and inventive. Although we do not have a commitment beyond six episodes for the sixth season, we are hopeful that this will not be the end of the franchise.”

That has also led to further questions about whether it could be the end of the series, but not the franchise. Is a spin-off possible?

In the US Eureka is currently airing its fourth season while production on Season 5 continues.

The series about the quiet Oregon town populated almost entirely by geniuses and scientists, airs in Australia on SciFi.

  1. SyFy has a reputation for showing a season in two groups with a long break inbetween.
Hopefully the six confirmed eps will be joined at a later date by more.

  2. @Craig

Yeah, I only found it was on last week, having missed a couple of episodes. Isn’t funny how they insist these shows don’t rate yet never tell anyone they’re on?
