Following the death of Nancy Wake, “the white mouse”, Seven has scheduled the 2 part 1987 telemovie starring Noni Hazlehurst, to air at midday tomorrow and Thursday.

This has quite a cast list including John Waters, Patrick Ryecart, Shane Briant, Alan Andrews, Lucianno Martucci, Frank Gallacher, Pamela Rabe, Sean Myers, Chris Hallam, John McTernan, William Upjohn, Kevin Miles, Tiriel Mora, Vincent Gill, Kirk Alexander, Dalibor Satalic, Paul Karo, Michelle Milner and John Concannon.

Award winners NONI HAZELHURST and JOHN WATERS star in this true story of Australia’s greatest war heroine, Nancy Wake, the woman tagged by the Gestapo as the ‘White Mouse’. This incredible story begins in 1939. Nancy Wake, an attractive young journalist, is on assignment in Marseilles when she meets wealthy businessman, Henri Fiocca. They fall desperately in love and are married just as Europe plunges towards war. Henri is called up to the army as Hitler begins his relentless march on Holland, Belgium and France. Determined to oppose the evils of Hitler’s regime, Nancy becomes involved with the French Resistance and helps establish an escape route for Allied airmen. But when her involvement is discovered by the Gestapo she is forced to flee the country, leaving behind her beloved Henri.

12 midday Wednesday and Thursday on Seven.

  1. I recorded the Nancy Wake movie but didn’t realise it was a 2 part show and didn’t record the second episode, so have only seen part 1 and came across this site in trying to find a DVD of the Nancy Wake to purchase. But if you could replay it at some stage that would be great.

  2. one tough chick!

Does anyone know who performed the theme song for the mini-series? I love the emotion expressed in the music but can’t find any reference to it on the net and channel 7 cut the credits out !

  3. I had no idea that it was on.
I have wanted to see this for years.I turned on the TV today (Thurs) around 1.30 and was happy to see this on….and then disappointed to find that it was The End!
Please Replay…In Prime time.Give this fantastic Australian the Credit and time slot that she deserves.
What an Incredibly Brave and remarkable woman.
May she RIP and always be remembered.

Come on 7….Show more Australians what a Treasure we had in Nancy.

  4. I had no idea this would be aired. I have been wanting to see it for many years now and it is not available on dvd. Better promotion by the tv channel would have helped, now I missed it.

  5. I was unable to see Part 2 so I am hoping that you will screen is again, what a great job Noni and John did. Because it wasn’t in the TV week, I nearly missed it.

  6. No thanks for advance notice – I turned the TV on at 1.30 and discovered part 1 was nearly over. I have no doubt this would rate well again if aired in prime time. Please channel 7, give the rest of Australia a chance to see it!

  7. i’m glad channel 7 is replying this mini series as i thought noni hazelhurst did a great job as well as john waters.

and i can’t get around much due to a middle ear infection and watching this mini series will make something worthwhile watching.

  8. What? We are given virtualy no notice of this being played today and tomorrow. Come on channel 7, out it on at a decent hour when all of us who work can get to see this as a lot of us were too young to appreciate this when it was on in 1987.

  9. Shane Briant gave one of the scariest performances as ‘The Nazi.’ As ever, he underplayed with such chilling subtlety. Can’t wait to be chilled to the marrow again, I read an article where Nancy said to Shane “If I’d captured you, I would have kept you for a week, then killed you!”

  10. Delighted Seven is replaying this. From what I remember – an excellent production with a stellar cast. Will definitely be recording it – thanks David!

  11. Shame 7 couldn’t find a primetime slot, considering the garbage they do run across their 3 channels. It’s “period” setting means it won’t be “dated”.

  12. I’ll definitely be recording this mini-series. Nancy Wake was an extraordinary woman and a true hero, and I’m looking forward to re-familiarising myself with her wartime exploits.
