Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine Group is to set up a global brand and commercial rights division headed up by Ben Liebmann.

Elisabeth Murdoch’s Shine Group is to set up a group-wide global brand and commercial rights division based on a business unit created by Shine Australia nine months ago.

Shine 360° will be headed up by Ben Liebmann, who was appointed as Managing Director, Shine 360° Australia, in November.

It will focus on sponsorship, brand partnerships, consumer products, interactive and digital brand extensions, live events and brand-funded entertainment.

Shine Group’s MasterChef has generated over $100m worldwide in global retail sales, across books and magazine publishing, cookware, sponsorship, mobile and tablet applications, and live events. The Biggest Loser has over $400m in global revenue raised through workout DVDs, global publishing, online weight-loss management services, fitness console gaming, numerous heath-based food, drink and supplement ranges.

Prior to joining Shine Australia Ben Liebmann worked FremantleMedia, Warner Music Group and Vodafone. He was recently recognised by Encore Magazine’s Top 50 list of the most powerful people in Australian film and television. He will relocate to London to head up Shine 360° from January.

Liebmann said: “In this new and exciting role, I am really looking forward to working more closely with my colleagues across the entire Shine Group. I’d also like to thank Carl and Mark Fennessy for first bringing me to Shine and for their continued support and friendship.”

A successor to Liebmann as Managing Director, Shine 360° Australia will be announced soon.

  1. @rob – what a ridiculous statement. Ben is a credible and professional operator. Do you think he didn’t think the show wouldn’t work?

    If you philosophy was applied across the industry there wouldn’t be anyone left.

  2. Neither of the numbers attached to MasterChef or Biggest Loser are exclusively Australian of course but it’s good to see the Fennessy’s are taking Leibmann with them to London/LA. He was intrinsic in flogging the dog that is The Renovators to so many Australian media buyers…doubtful anyone here will trust much of what he has to say anymore.
