Talent on top

Australia's Got Talent pulled out the biggest single audience of the year in Week 32, reaching beyond 2.9m viewers.

Australia’s Got Talent pulled out the biggest single audience of the year in Week 32.

After preliminary figure adjustments it reached beyond 2.9m viewers for the moment when the winner was announced (and could go higher still when Timeshifted results are in next week). For its fifth season it was an astounding result.

It bettered this year’s State of Origin high of 2.47m. Only the Royal Wedding at around 6m has been higher -but only by adding separate audiences from across several channels.

Reality TV and News again dominated the week with just one drama showing in the Top 20.

Nine’s best for the week was The Block on 1.73m followed by MasterChef Australia for TEN also on 1.73m.

  1. Out of the 3 judges, Dannii is the star of the show!
She knows her stuff, having been in the industry since she was 7 years old – she’s hard working & offers the contestants excellent feedback – perfect judge!
She always looks amazing – a class act!
Channel 7 should offer her her own lifestyle show, she’ll be perfect!

  2. @ Moey, Who are to call the judges on AGT ‘bad characters’ and ‘vile people’. Aside from a couple of controversies involving Kyle over the years, I would say they are all of good character, and all three do a lot of work for charity.

  3. I think AGT has really excelled this time with talent, and if people don’t like the judges why do they watch the show? they can always turn it off, it never ceases to amaze me why people rubbish things all the time, there are plenty of other channels to watch now, and as for the young guy Jack who has taken all that flack from being on the show, if that isn’t being jealous I don’t know what is

  4. @Jerome
Ummm last time I checked TEN’s target demo was 16-39 and according to the article they did win that…so…???

Real question here is what happened to Nine? The basically had a clean sweep of demos last week and this week they were way behind

  5. Top 33 over 1mil. Thats pretty good. Seven seemed to break out ahead of its rivals after a close battle for Sunday. I think that without AGT, Nine’s Block final closing in and the MC final, Seven could face a much tougher week or few weeks.
Rafters could offset Nine’s Underbelly Razor.
I think that if Nine had fast-tracked the Voice OZ to after the Block finished up, they could have claimed the second half of the year, but then it would be rushed and the quality worse.
Good luck to Nine- they need to win at least one week.

  6. Disappointing to see Australia’s Got Talent top the ratings by a long mile, especially considering the fact it’s fronted by 3 bad characters on the panel. Australians must like vile people.

  7. 7two is back in form, way ahead of the competition, 7mate is also getting up there.

and so passes what should have been tens strongest week of the year, a few months ago everyone would have expected a weekly win for ten. turns out they werent even close, they didn’t even with their target demo, not looking got for ten for the rest of the year.
