    @ tv

I agree The Dark Knight would of been better at 8.30pm. I might of watched it at 9.30pm. I’ll admit I preferred Doctor Who instead.

    @J Shaw

I loved what Rage played at least in early part of the evening (before and after midnight ) . I couldn’t see it all through the night and morning but what I did see I liked a lot (except the hip-hop ) . Thank you to the excellent programmers.

  2. tv August 14, 2011 at 5:36 pm -

The programmers at 9 are bad. It was a mistake to run with “The Dark Knight” on Saturday. It had a late start time and finishing at 1am would hurt its ratings, amazing it still got 300000 lemmings to stay up that late. With better programing, nine could have taken out saturday and won the week.

  3. J Shaw August 14, 2011 at 12:52 pm -

Good to see Rage has increased it’s ratings on Saturday morning (13th August) now that TEN have axed video hits. I did not see any of TENS programs on Saturday morn in the ratings list. Another stuff up from Lachlan Murdoch

  4. Geoff August 13, 2011 at 11:12 pm -

    @ Brad,

Hamish & Andy is filmed with a 2 and a half day turn around, considering most likely the editing staff for the show would be based here in Australia that’s a pretty fast turn around. Channel 9 most likely doesn’t even have a “censor” in the US and probably do it from here too.

How much faster would you want it to be, especially with the multiple camera angles they appear to be using.

  5. col August 13, 2011 at 3:28 pm -

@DAN, your a smart man not watching The Block.

  6. ryan August 13, 2011 at 3:17 pm -

    Modern family for 7pm sundays!!!

  7. smiley_mick August 13, 2011 at 2:30 pm -

Channel 10 with less than 10% for Friday… Ouch!!

  8. Home sweet Home-MADE August 13, 2011 at 1:56 pm -

Last time there was an attempt at the greatest renovation show ever it was bumped out of prime time with if my memory serves me correct twice the ratings the renovators got last night. How long can ch10 keep flogging this wooden horse?

  9. DAN August 13, 2011 at 12:53 pm -

@Col iknow it should be about the houses not the challenges i would not know about the block because i dont watch it

@Rutzie LOL that is probaly very tru i dont think the renovators can be saved

  10. Nathan from MVTee August 13, 2011 at 12:40 pm -

Pawn Stars is a fantastic show if people gave it a chance. It rates its socks off in the US and I think the best reality show to come out of the US in years. Channel 7 next to keep promoting its butt off or maybe give it the 730 slot.
The lead in for Pawn Stars on Thursday was horrible, Home and Away may be a better option

  11. Joe August 13, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

I can’t wait until Better Homes and Gardens gets shifted from Fridays next year! Bring the Footy to a decent time already! Also does anyone know if BHAG will remain on fridays in the rugby states?

  12. Rutzie August 13, 2011 at 11:31 am -

Well may we say ‘God Save the Queen’ because nothing will save The Renovators.

  13. MuchoTB August 13, 2011 at 11:12 am -

Nine getting twice the network share of Ten is a rather big difference.

The Renovators – How To Ten 405,000
Law & Order: UK Ten 358,000
    Law & Order Ten 342,000

A 15.8 share is terrible, even for a Friday night.

  14. The insider August 12, 2011 at 11:00 pm -

Problem with reality shows that encourage people who work in that field to participate is that they either fail to engage or patronise the audience as was tonights renovators “how to” or they slip back into scripted stereotypes to appeal to a low brow audience by throwing in wannabes with professionals – ie top design. Maybe the design genre needs a makeover that strips it back to the bones and starts a rebuild from the production company up. The block is bogan tv but what you get from a castng point of view is supposed average joes having a go with viewers preferring to get their design tips from hairdressers and sheet metal workers. I feel that the aussie battler reality audience has become too savy for shows with people who actually know what that they are doing and are clicking that we are watching a story being told rather than unfold.

  15. col August 12, 2011 at 7:56 pm -

@DAN, Right on man, its annoying all these challenges that they are doing , i want to see actual home renovations,Its like The Block on challenge Night the worse part is shelley craft , what purpose does she serve but to annoy us.

  16. DAN August 12, 2011 at 6:17 pm -

the renovators would have been so much better if it had been about actually renovating houses and not challenges after challenges i IQ it and only watch the parts that they are working on thier houses which is hardly at all

  17. Brad August 12, 2011 at 6:12 pm -

If Hamish and Andy is going to have a Tonight Show format surely it has to be aired closer to the time it is filmed. This week’s episode was filmed on Monday night in New York. This means the show cannot attempt commentary on current news because it isn’t current.

  18. ryan August 12, 2011 at 5:54 pm -

The renovators should be called the challangers! I’m really trying to understand why we aren’t seeing the renovations of the 6 houses? Isn’t that the point of the show? to renovate 6 houses?

  19. Jezza August 12, 2011 at 4:20 pm -

Hey how well has Renovators done since everyone got to “sample” (forced fed more like) it last Sunday. Have the ratings picked up? Or did they really p*ss off a lot of people who have voted with their feet?…..Crash & Burn

  20. Pete August 12, 2011 at 3:01 pm -

    @Bogues – Thanks – I figure the same.

  21. Goonies August 12, 2011 at 2:21 pm -

Renovators still better than any of the alternatives I think. I really would like to see more of the actual reno’s though!

I quite liked Pawn Stars, it should be on 7Mate though along with the other Pawn show and American Pickers.

I noticed yesterday an ad for COW and they have Charlie Pickering and Gary from MC as guests. I wonder if they read my post about not having any ‘proper’ 10 celebs on the show? :)

  22. John August 12, 2011 at 2:03 pm -

Just been wondering…. what happens with the competition and contestants if Renovators gets axed? Do they just say ‘ok, we’re done, go home’ or do they have to keep going with it off camera because of contracts and all that?

  23. Craig August 12, 2011 at 1:31 pm -

L&O LA is just not working for Seven, getting half the number of SVU on TEN, how long before it’s cut/moved?

  24. A. August 12, 2011 at 12:41 pm -

Thank you David for the figures. :)

  25. jonno August 12, 2011 at 12:39 pm -

Hamish & Andy got it right last night after 2 slow weeks. In a week filled with riots and market crashes it was good to find a show thats gives you a good laugh. I now look forward to Thursday nights with H & A and AFL footy show. The AFL footy show has no comedians on it but is at times very funny. It gets lots of knockers but is very solid in the ratings. ABC2 are also doing a footy show. Caught a bit of it last night and liked it. Not sure what its called but worth a look.

  26. Moanique in Brisbane August 12, 2011 at 12:26 pm -

@ ohyeah, In my opinion Renovators is a great show and the best in that genre at the moment. Perhaps you wouldn’t be so harsh if it was on Nine.

  27. Allie August 12, 2011 at 12:23 pm -

Thursday night = Channel 7′s Dead Zone. They have nothing. Was Pawn Stars a special or is it an ongoing series. Whatever, I doubt it will be back next week. It belongs on 7Mate, not the main channel.

I think Channel 10 have to concede that The Renovators is a bomb of Hindenberg proportions. It may gather momentum once The Block finishes, but I doubt it. It was programmed at a very bad time. The Block stole ongoing renovating momentum and people really can have too much of something. Also, it follows the MasterChef template to the letter. It is basically MC minus the food, complete with state the bleedin’ obvious cutaways, shock-and-awe beat the clock challenges, “I’m never going to finish” histrionics from the contestants, three superior but nice judges, etc. It is simply too similar to MC and viewers are not going to invest another three months at six days a week in another reality show, coming straight off MasterChef. Talk about overkill, it is programming madness!! They should have had several months break before they aired it. I shudder to think of the $$$ that have been wasted on this. Ten can’t pull it now, it needs to limp to its conclusion like that other reno turkey, HomeMade did, two years ago. Unless Ten is run by masochists, it won’t be back in 2012.

  28. steve sydney August 12, 2011 at 11:32 am -

Ok I watched Hamish and Andy last night… I’m kicking myself for sitting through 10 minutes of watching someone play golf with a rubbish bin.

What were Seven thinking with Pawn Stars?? Honestly I didn’t think it would even get numbers that high

  29. catherine August 12, 2011 at 11:22 am -

I think 7 need to get beauty and the geek on as quick as possible. Whatever were they thinking putting Pawn Stars on.

I watched Hamish and Andy last night and it was much better because they got back to basics and didnt have guests. They focused on other htings. The golfing hting was pretty funny and Hamish as a baby and Andy pushing him around was hilarious. Thats the funny stuff we like.

  30. ohyeah August 12, 2011 at 10:58 am -

    @ Rob… well said….
renovators is a waste of Ch10 money!! sorry to say this but wont be back next year! and if it is then ch10 are idiots for wasting money on it instead of keeping staff in and quality tv shows

  31. Rob August 12, 2011 at 10:08 am -

@Jellyman: the ratings can get back up to what….800k? The same reasoning was given about Renovators moving to 7:30pm….just wait until it takes MasterChef’s slot, it’ll go up. Just wait until The Block finishes, it’ll go up. Just wait until it gets later in the series, it’ll go up. Just wait until there’s no competition on any free-to-air or pay tv channel, it’ll go up.

  32. ohyeah August 12, 2011 at 9:52 am -

@ jellyman and Harry…. the renovators is a crap show.. it’s basiclly masterchef without food. even after the block ending on aug 21, the renovators will still rate poorly!.

  33. MuchoTB August 12, 2011 at 9:40 am -

Wwii Lost Films: The Air War Seven 598,000
    Pawn Stars Seven 511,000
Law & Order: La Seven 374,000
    Law & Order: La-Ep.2 Seven 342,000

Rather terrible night for Seven. They only pulled a 16.5% share for the night compared to Nine’s 26.8%. Only thanks to their multichannels did they rise up to 26.2% in combined shares overnight.

Pawn Stars was a flop. Will be interesting to see what they try next. Perhaps Beauty and the Geek?

  34. Rutzie August 12, 2011 at 9:27 am -

Seven are lucky they have a decent AFL game this week which should rate pretty well and seal them another weekly win. With Nine now in front by 0.1% it’s going to be damn close. It’s almost like Seven don’t care about Thursday because the programming since HIMYM, Grey’s and DH finished has been horrendous.

  35. Harry August 12, 2011 at 1:36 am -

The Renovators is so much better than The Block. But I think there’s too much of the Renovators on if that makes any sense. I think it will hit higher audiences in future. TEN must persist with it – it is the only way.

  36. Maev August 12, 2011 at 12:48 am -

@ ryan….just thought you would like to know…you only have 7 more weeks of suffering!

  37. Maev August 12, 2011 at 12:39 am -

@ steve sydney…..*giggle*…….One mans meat is another mans poison…

  38. Jellyman August 11, 2011 at 11:19 pm -

The Renovators Supporters will be waiting for The Block to end so the Ratings can get back up. Seriously, i have Faith in it.

  39. ryan August 11, 2011 at 11:07 pm -

@Maev: Thank fkn god! I could see the point in ten keeping it if it was around 500,000 but below 400,000 for 9.30 is pathetic.

  40. steve sydney August 11, 2011 at 9:27 pm -

    @maev

Just looking at Ryan’s comment I was wondering how long it would take for you to respond. I do admire your passion for the show…

  41. Goonies August 11, 2011 at 6:56 pm -

@ Rob, yes. if you don’t want to go through 4 days of whining and complaining about missing shows then you do.

I think networks have been messing us around the last 10 years for crying out loud. They care about the bottom line not you and whether you missed something or not. Everyone says oh I’ll boycott this and blah blah but really ch 10 has generated a huge amount of publicity for themselves this week and as they say there is no such thing as bad publicity.

You obviously have an internet connection, do you have a smartphone? Ice Tv has an app, you could download it and use that as your tv guide at home in front of the tv. No laptop or press release required.

Or you could stick to your old ways of doing it and then come here and complain every time you miss something.

PS – Shaun Micallef had a rather large dig at 10 last night on 7PM Project, especially at their new, new, new timeslot. Loved his twitter pics

  42. opti August 11, 2011 at 5:16 pm -

the renovators feels like masterchef all over again -_-

  43. Maev August 11, 2011 at 5:10 pm -

@ Stephen Barr….I totallly agree….I feel most viewers like to have regular viewing times…days …shows….
I think all the messing around with Modern Family and the Reno thing…neither of which I watch….have also had a domino effect on 7PM and 6.30,,,from the look of the numbers.

  44. Maev August 11, 2011 at 5:02 pm -

@ ryan…They are keeping it, not just too personally tick you off….but because other people do like The Defenders….and more would if they gave it a go….
And as I stated before…..they only made one series….so get off your soapbox….it is almost at an end.

  45. Moanique in Brisbane August 11, 2011 at 4:50 pm -

Thoroughly enjoying Judith Lucy’s Spiritual Journey, funny, informative, even sad at times. It is rating well too, being 9.30 on ABC, looking forward to the remaining 3 episodes.

  46. John August 11, 2011 at 4:41 pm -

The New Inventors has, as usual, rated very well. Always in the top 25 and 15 last night. Don’t the ABC boffins who have decided to pull the show read these ratings?

  47. Adam August 11, 2011 at 3:16 pm -

Looks like I”m with the minority that like The Renovators and hates The Block! the production standards of both are wide apart! People get on it.

Can’t see how Ten will be able to bid for NRL given its really weakened position right now. I would think only Nine would want the NRL given that it is a loss leader and would be strange if Seven wanted both AFL and NRL as loss leaders.

  48. ryan August 11, 2011 at 2:37 pm -

why is ten insisting on keeping the defenders? It hasnt worked at all and it isnt gonna work! P*ss it off!

  49. Leigh H August 11, 2011 at 2:31 pm -

I actually enjoy the renovators, the block on the other hand is very low brow.

  50. Mason August 11, 2011 at 2:28 pm -

The channel 10 owned regional radio station is advertising as of 1 hour ago Reno @ 7.30 and MF @ 8.00. Doesn’t give either show much chance. Lucky regional ratings only matter to regional advertisers.

  51. Trix August 11, 2011 at 1:32 pm -

@steve sydney, yes, read a book, plus watched Misfits with my son on iView. I wonder how many people these days actually watch ‘live’ TV as opposed to DVDs, catch ups or PVRd programs …

  52. DAN August 11, 2011 at 12:38 pm -

i didnt even bother watching the renovators last night because i knew it was going to be a challenge and i am fed up with the challenges just work on the houses and i will watch it

  53. Stephen Barr August 11, 2011 at 12:27 pm -

I’m astonished that network TV programmers in this country fail to acknowledge the most obvious fundamental rule of TV programming .That is we are creatures of habit and nothing confirms that more than TV viewing rituals. How do these executives justify their insane salaries when they can’t get something as basic as sticking to a regular time slot during a season. As viewers we expect more and if these networks fail do deliver on expectations (which is about all they’re consistent at) then we will continue to enthusiastically investigate alternatives to traditional TV broadcasts.

  54. DanR August 11, 2011 at 12:25 pm -

It seems shows like Masterchef and AGT actually bring people to television. Without them, people are happy to find something else to do

  55. steve sydney August 11, 2011 at 12:18 pm -

Were most people reading a book last night??

  56. Bruce Banner August 11, 2011 at 12:10 pm -

Neighbours beats Negus again… how fantastic! :D

  57. Secret Squïrrel August 11, 2011 at 11:53 am -

@NJK – I thought I had pretty much conceded that point when I wrote my last response to you about the Unlikely Animal Friends numbers. But if it makes you feel better to have me spell it out –
    Renovators = epic fail!

On a related matter, looks like Ten are now trying to kill TBYG. I would’ve thought that there would be quite an overlap with audiences for Spicks and Specks and Gruen (that’s where I was at that time). What was wrong with 7:30? Renos is going to tank wherever you put it.

  58. Lizzie May August 11, 2011 at 11:33 am -

I think the failure of the Renovators is due to two things. The audience is suffering from reality tv saturation after MC (stating the obvious I would have thought) and the judges are the very unappealing. What was Channel 10 casting thinking?

  59. NJK August 11, 2011 at 10:59 am -

@ Secret Squirrel: Are you now prepared to admit that Renovators is a massive failure?! If not for the massive investment Ten has placed in it, I’m sure it would be pulled with such pathetic numbers.

  60. JB August 11, 2011 at 10:40 am -

See, Ten have killed Your Gen. Used to be ratings gold but people get sick of constant timeslot changes and day changes. Eventually they just stop watching.

Was forced to watch the Block at my dad’s last night. Terrible. There was 5 minutes of silence as we watched a chick walk of crying. Riveting television.

  61. MuchoTB August 11, 2011 at 10:13 am -

The Renovators on 668k, thats pretty funny

The show could still potentially build its audience when it heads towards the finale but its already gotten way too much negative press. The damage has been done

  62. Rutzie August 11, 2011 at 9:27 am -

Stupid timeslot for TAYG results in mediocre figures. What’s even worse is CM: Suspect Behaviour beat it in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos. The Renovators is flatlining. Can it be revived? Once The Block ends Nine could find themselves in a bit of trouble. They’re going to have holes all over their schedule.

  63. Evan August 11, 2011 at 9:16 am -

I’m loving Judith Lucy’s “Spiritual Journey” on the ABC – pretty respectable ratings for it last night.
In fact, I enjoyed the entire hour and a half on the ABC, from 8.30PM – 10.00 PM.

I guess we can now officially say that The Renovators is a dog of epic proportions! What’s Ten going to do? Move it to another timeslot, can it altogether, or let the series limp on until its conclusion?

  64. Michael August 11, 2011 at 9:15 am -

What a low rating Wednesday nite……

  65. Smitto August 10, 2011 at 10:40 pm -

Just finished watching top design for the last time. I can’t recall seeing such a scripted and poorly acted (yes you Jamie Durie) elimination. Hot single mum at risk of suprise shock elimination before arrogant misfit steps in and “gallantly” announces he will take the bullet for her due to health issues with a family member. Do you really expect us to believe that you didn’t know the misfit was leaving prior to scripting the “shock” double elimination channel nine?

I hope the renovators actually starts to show some renovating and can someone please enlighten me how 2 weeks ago the couples on the block were just about out of money and now they are putting in decks, spas, outdoor kitchens, landscaping, rebuilding the frontages, etc, etc……………………………………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m Renoed out and channel 10 please throw away the channel nine programming playbook you seemed to have found.

  66. Rob August 10, 2011 at 9:54 pm -

@Goonies: so I have to check online or be on a press release list to be sure that Ch10 are actually going to broadcast the show they’ve promo’d for weeks? Wtf? The fact that David Mott is willing to repeatedly burn his generally good public perception in an effort to make Renovators work speaks volumes. The fact he’s burning it for no discernable benefit in numbers speaks louder.

@Ryan: agree, it’s called “The Renovators” but only 1 hour in 5 actually depicts any genuine renovating. The Block dominates in this regard…a renovation show showing renovating! What a concept!

  67. ryan August 10, 2011 at 9:38 pm -

I think the renovators prob is the fact its all about these houses but with 6 eps a week and we only see them work on the house once or twice. I would like it to show more of the renovations and less challanges.

  68. Ja'mie August 10, 2011 at 8:52 pm -

lol, The Renovators is a resounding failure. Shame Modern Family has been completely destroyed by such a terrible program.

  69. Goonies August 10, 2011 at 7:18 pm -

I’m with you Maev, if you are a serious tv watcher and it is one of your fave things to do then you need to be a bit more proactive when it comes to checking things like TV Tonight, Ice TV, Facebook etc etc.

I knew MF had changed slots and adjusted my DVR accordingly.

Networks have been playing this game a long time and if you have not caught on yet – why not!?

Be interesting to see MF ratings for next week and we will see if it has been ‘killed’ or not.

  70. ryan August 10, 2011 at 5:14 pm -

i rekonwhen ncis new eps return ten should have
tue 8.30 new ncis, 9.30 ncis repeat
wed 8.30 ncis l.a new eps, 9.30 burn notice,
sun modern family 7pm, reno, 7,30, tbyg, 8.30
    That is all :)

  72. catherine August 10, 2011 at 4:59 pm -

Another great episode of winners & losers last night. So im guessing with only 2 eps to go packed to the rafters will be back in 3 weeks.

I enjoyed 4 weddings last night. Its interesting to see what people do for there weddings and how they are all different. It waas funny when the lord of the rings one freaked out the 3 other girls.

Speaking of Golem did anyone see Sunrise yesterday morning when Kylie & Kochie were interviewing Fifi about the new series and soemone came in dressed as Golum and frightened the hell out of them. It was funny live tv.

  73. Peter August 10, 2011 at 3:17 pm -

could this be the week nine finally beats seven? less then 1% between the two in sevens favour wtd

  74. Maev August 10, 2011 at 3:09 pm -

@ Paul….As I said elsewhere on this site….if you just have a quick look at this site each time you go to your computer….you would to totally informed…no stress!

  75. Bogues August 10, 2011 at 2:38 pm -

Pete: I suspect OWAT ratings are like the Footy Show (counting the version that shows at 9:30pm in each state, i.e. NRL in Syd/Bne AFL in other states)
