    David,

Do you have the ratings for the Rugby on GEM, Saturday night at 7:30pm?

  2. Adam August 28, 2011 at 11:59 pm -

it really is tragic how badly Murdoch has done @ Ten

It is amazing how short short memories are… OneTel anybody?

  3. Secret Squïrrel August 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm -

Good to see Classic Albums back on SBS.

  4. steve sydney August 27, 2011 at 8:13 pm -

How/why does 6.30 get it’s largest audience on a Friday night??!! The interview with Barbra perhaps?

Also I saw a bit of Harry Potter last night on GO! and they actually had a banner ad for the new film showing at cinemas. I thought the Networks were only able to advertise their own programming with those banner ads.. are we now going to get product advertised this like now. Very poor effort.

  5. Cookie August 27, 2011 at 5:42 pm -

another week another win for seven

  6. MJL August 27, 2011 at 1:33 pm -

Any idea what the ratings for the shows on GEM rated between 7:30pm and 9:30pm in Melbourne only that was so important that 9 needed to show because the refused to air the Storm game?

  7. obiy August 27, 2011 at 1:01 pm -

What were the late night numbers in Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth for the NRL? Thanks,

  8. MJR August 27, 2011 at 12:23 pm -

Good to see glee project with some decent numbers
Is getting better now they are down to small number of contestants

  9. Craig August 27, 2011 at 11:56 am -

Wow! Rugby league ratings are going through the roof…If that game was shown live in melbourne would of got a million plus.

  10. A. August 27, 2011 at 4:57 am -

Thank you David for the figures. :)

  11. Allie August 26, 2011 at 5:21 pm -

@Don, yeah, the way that team laid those tiles in the backyard challenge on The Renovators looked very shonky to me as well. No wonder the judge took them to task about it. It was quite a bizarre approach, but the silly time pressures they have to work under more or less ensures that corners will always be cut.

  12. vicky August 26, 2011 at 4:56 pm -

Was everyone out last night…….. very low numbers.

  13. Brad August 26, 2011 at 3:44 pm -

I imagine Nine sold advertising space on Hamish and Andy promising a lot more than 895K viewers…more compo coming up!!!

  14. Friends August 26, 2011 at 3:24 pm -

Nice to see Hamish and Andy have adopted nine’s motto of “not forgetting who their friends are”. These guys must p*ss themselves laughing every night that they were able to sell channel nine a road trip for them and their mates under the guise of a tv show. So much better when they are just mucking around and not trying to be anything more than they are – a couple of good blokes having a good time. (PS Hamish don’t try acting – have seen the previews to that ABC show you’re in and the acting doesn’t look good mate – stick to body building)

  15. Rutzie August 26, 2011 at 3:07 pm -

I think it’s pretty clear that no longer can the lazy programming at Nine of filling all the holes in the schedule with TBBT continue. Time to come up with some new ideas Andrew Backwell.

  16. David Knox August 26, 2011 at 2:54 pm -

Find it curious that Hamish and Andy are no longer interviewing guests. All that trouble for a Tonight show set, they could have just screened clips like their Caravan of Courage stuff.

  17. Savvy August 26, 2011 at 2:44 pm -

It’s really good to see that Hamish and Andy have turned what was a mediocre first episode into a hugely entertaining program. The last few episodes have been really good as they’ve been doing rove-esque style skits instead of having guest interviews. It’s a shame that the ratings have dropped off considerably though, people should come back and give it another chance!

  18. catherine August 26, 2011 at 2:10 pm -

Wow seven actually won on a thursday night. That was there weakest night.

Hamish and Andy is getting better. Finally they have gone back to what made them funny and they have stopped interviewing guests. The bin race was hilarious and Hasmish doing the body building was funny to.

Ive just jumped on The Big Bang Theory bandwagon. When are we going to get new episodes.

  19. Eye Spy August 26, 2011 at 2:06 pm -

So 9 has sacked three of its journos (the producer has resigned) over a deception involving not actually being where they claimed to be.
Media Watch has been exposing this sort of thing by (mainly) the commercial channels for a long time. When challenged for explanations the responses have been mealy-mouthed excuses and often defiant indignation at being caught out.
I am not aware that in the past there have been any staff dismissals over similar incidents.
So why now? Has 9 used this latest incident as a cover for a bit of downsizing, a euphemism for showing people the door and resultant cost savings. Just a thought.

  20. jonno August 26, 2011 at 1:49 pm -

Notice Negus is stll sruggling to increase figures. I like this show but i think a serious current affairs show is better after 7 pm. People have just got home, are probably having dinner and our concentration levels are not high. If Ten want to be different and not get lost in all the news traffic between 6pm and 7pm why not try a news service at 8.30 pm and Negus at 9pm or 9.30 and 10pm. At that time people are sitting down and prepared to digest the news a bit. I am only making this suggestion as i fear this show will be axed with these sort of ratings. It is the only nightly serious current affairs show on commercial TV and would be a real shame to lose it .

  21. col August 26, 2011 at 1:30 pm -

@maev , i think your on the money there , Ron Wilson was a favourite with alot of people and now hes doing the early shift.Theres an old adage , if it aint broke , dont fix it.

  22. Luke August 26, 2011 at 1:11 pm -

What the hell is with Thursday night ratings? Every network is suffering…

  23. tebbs August 26, 2011 at 12:46 pm -

Ha 9hater all right about 9 so lucky for them the people at 10 are even more stupid with an hour and half of news followed by negus (more crap pretending to be ‘serious’ but actually just boring) 7pm twee news followed by renovators – boring wooden predictable frankenformat rip off of about 6 different shows wedged together with bangs and booms and expensive sets.

  24. Craig August 26, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

With Nine loosing the lead it had had since Sunday it just shows one night does not win you the week, you need consistent programing for 7 days. I watch more on GEM and GO! and I do it’s main channel. Not that I watch much from any of the main channels any more, even Rafters is staring to bore me.

I do look forward to Wild Boys and hope TEN will fast track Terra Nova in the coming month. I’ve never been a fan of most reality shows and most local cop shows are just not that interesting, Rush is the exception…

    Sorry for the Rant.

  25. Maev August 26, 2011 at 11:45 am -

Dumping Ron Wilson and adding a teeny weeny table….certainly has not helped the TEN evening news…..it is just getting worse….in rating numbers…
I only turn on the last five minutes to watch my favourite weather person… :)

  26. Brenton August 26, 2011 at 11:35 am -

    7 must be happy today.

  27. Jane August 26, 2011 at 10:43 am -

Congrats on coming in at no. 10 for the night channel ten. $30 million well spent.

  28. MuchoTB August 26, 2011 at 10:40 am -

Watched a few minutes of Hamish and Andy last night and it wasn’t actually that bad!! Much better than the premiere episode which was complete shit

Also I’ll add its hilarious Nine can’t win a week even with a double episode of Underbelly: Razor and The Block finale. This week was their one shot to win a week this year, and they’ve failed. Bar some minor miracle on Friday or Saturday, Seven have this in the bag

  29. Jezza August 26, 2011 at 10:25 am -

Are the numbers this week turning into a ratings disaster for ch9? To start with such dominance on Sunday with the highest single programme of the year to where they are now doesn’t seem that good.

To all the fans of the renovators….top 10 on Thursday night…..better

  30. 9hata August 26, 2011 at 10:25 am -

Hahahaha and there goes 9’s artificial lead for the week!!! They deserve to lose, with sh*t like A current affair, big bang repeats, mistreatment of top gear, farmer wants a root, the hopeless today show, the dreadfully unfunny and over rated morons a.k.a hamish and andy, and the 9 news they run with junior cadets! they will not win a single week this year- deservedly so. This was the only week they might have pulled out of the hat.

  31. Leigh H August 26, 2011 at 10:22 am -

I disagree with Ryan, I enjoy the Real exclusives on Negus. I think the content is relevant to Australians and can not fathom why hardly anybody tunes in. It is by far the best “current affairs” show across the commercial networks.

  32. Tony Bee August 26, 2011 at 10:20 am -

Hate to admit this, but Hamish & Andy were actually entertaining last night!

  33. Don August 25, 2011 at 10:53 pm -

    @goonies
Last night’s ep of the renovators had an outdoor challenge. One of the teams chose to lay down a modular tile system over several different surfaces of varying depths filling in the gaps and height differences with rapid set concrete. Anyone with half an idea about DIY and the builder judge too knows this is a quick fix that if they are lucky will last a week. Those tiles will need to be relaid and who pays for that?
Tonights ep at the working bee showed paint coming off previously prepared surfaces that they were hoping to get away with.
Once again cutting corners on national tv because of ridiculous time constraints is hardly a good advertisement for attracting top dollar in the “real” world.

  34. Secret Squïrrel August 25, 2011 at 9:26 pm -

@Allie – hear hear! That sort of shonky trick is what we expect from The Dark Side (both of them). As Rob says, it kinda jars with their attempts to differentiate themselves from the two recycled-sensationalism-wrapped-up-as-current-affairs-and-community-care programs.

I stopped watching because, altho’ better than TT and ACA, it’s still pretty mediocre. It pales by comparison with what the ABC and SBS offer.

  35. Secret Squïrrel August 25, 2011 at 9:19 pm -

@ryan – you can get that stuff on TT and ACA. Make sure you put your brain in neutral first or you’ll pop an artery.

  36. Rob August 25, 2011 at 7:51 pm -

@Allie: strongly agree, Ch10’s promo department are their own worst enemy. For a current affairs show that claims its point of difference is “journalistic integrity”, promos seem to do their level best to sensationalise whenever/whatever they can.

  37. ryan August 25, 2011 at 7:34 pm -

Negus exclusives suck! Who gives a shit about david hicks! Why don’t they just use their brains and think, what matters to aussies, what’s an interesting topic and can we get the in depth infomation to make it a good exclusive.
Personally there are a few topics i would love to hear about, savings, how to get into the market tips, money savers like tips on water, electricity, and gas use to cut bills, Banks are screwing us, how to screw them back! immigration ideas to fix the problem, debates with ministers, qld floods and vic bush fires updates, god there is soo much and we get so much crap!

  38. Rutzie August 25, 2011 at 6:31 pm -

And just like that Nine’s lead for the week has all but evaporated. After the massive high of Sunday they’ve come crashing down and almost certainly will lose this week. Heads should roll.

  39. Goonies August 25, 2011 at 6:19 pm -

Re the 90 minutes of 10 news, by the time I usually get home it is just after 5.30 so I get a couple of news stories and then sport and weather, I like the 6pm bulletin because it means I can hear the stories I missed earlier.

It is a bit like watching your news inside out or back to front.

I much, much prefer this option than having to watch 9 news (7 news is banned in my household). And as an added bonus at the end of it I change the channel for Neighbours :)

  40. ryan August 25, 2011 at 5:59 pm -

Maybe negus should have a co host?? Sandra sully anyone??

  41. Allie August 25, 2011 at 5:34 pm -

Can I just say a big boo and hiss to 6.30 with George Negus last night. All day long they trumpeted an “exclusive” with that human headline, David Hicks. They made it sound like Negus had scored an interview with him. Turns out, it was a pre-recorded, 10 second sound bite of Hicks declaring his innocence of terrorism charges, followed by an interview with a civil rights talking head. WTH – I thought Negus was above that sort of blatantly gratuitous, fake story promotion so beloved of TT and ACA. I was very disappointed that they stooped to that level, as what they advertised was not what they delivered. Massive brickbats and a big, fat boo and hiss to Ten.

  42. steve sydney August 25, 2011 at 5:14 pm -

    @col

I tend to agree you on this one. The 90 minute News is just too much, funny though how i expect most people stop watching TEN at 6pm and then switch over to either Nine or Seven for even more News. With all that happens in the world you think they could fill in time with more News stories and less weather and traffic.

It’s also hurting 6.30.. put a cheap game show on or something at 6pm to give people a break. There’s obviously a market with Deal and Host Seat going strong.

  43. Goonies August 25, 2011 at 4:57 pm -

@ Don – can you please enilghten me as to this ‘shonky building’ that is going on?

It may not all be finished to the highest standard but shonky is a big call.

  44. Matt August 25, 2011 at 4:25 pm -

Looks like 9 news in Brisbane ratings went up. Fake helicopters paid off!

  45. Ranco August 25, 2011 at 3:28 pm -

hahah, channel 7 made up grounds beating channel nine by 10% both nights, with three more nights to go, with 2/3 dominant channel 7 nights.

  46. Don August 25, 2011 at 3:08 pm -

Never knew backyard blitz was back. When did 10 get the rights to this and rebadge it the renovators? For a big budget show there is some very shonky building work going.

  47. jaxmachine1007 August 25, 2011 at 1:56 pm -

    @david @secretsquirrel – thank u for the answers

  48. Mark August 25, 2011 at 1:46 pm -

The Block is gone and once again Seven are dominant

  49. Secret Squïrrel August 25, 2011 at 1:21 pm -

@Jax – you can’t just add each night’s percentages together. Some nights more people watch TV so the percentages carry more weight. You need to add the raw audience numbers for each program together or wait for someone else to do it and report on it.

  50. David Knox August 25, 2011 at 12:59 pm -

Jax: For the accumulated figures since Sunday, Nine is now just 0.6% ahead of Seven.

  51. jaxmachine1007 August 25, 2011 at 12:44 pm -

can someone explain to me why nine is in front by 0.6%, when i have seven in front, newbie at work

  52. col August 25, 2011 at 12:28 pm -

@Steve Sydney , I think its just too long for a news program all said and done.Look at the figures for the ABC news nearly 1 Million. Its a better news , you dont need traffic reports at home if your driving in your car , you need only see the weather once at the end of the program not 5 times back and forward with Tim Bouncing Bailey.
I watch the ABC as it has no ads and it tells you what we need to know , i guess alot of people feel the same way.

  53. Kieran August 25, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

okay, maybe not… ABC won it.. woops

  54. Kieran August 25, 2011 at 11:59 am -

Wow, Talkin’ Bout Your Gen won the 8.30pm slot!
It shows Australians are beginning to get sick of the american crime dramas!

  55. David Knox August 25, 2011 at 11:23 am -

Yes the premiere is Top Design on GEM at 8:30 and Top Design (Encore) aired at 10:30 on Nine and pulled a higher figure.

  56. Ellie August 25, 2011 at 11:11 am -

Sorry if this is a sill question, but are they calling Top Design when it is on Nine later the “encore”? Thanks :)

  57. David Knox August 25, 2011 at 10:54 am -

Top Design on GEM was 106,000.

  58. MattC August 25, 2011 at 10:47 am -

out of curiosity, what numbers did the first screening of Top Design pull on GO!?

  59. Jake August 25, 2011 at 10:26 am -

After Covert Affairs won its slot last week at 9.30pm, don’t think it was a great idea to bump it back to after 11pm.

  60. steve sydney August 25, 2011 at 10:18 am -

    Dear David

What’s happening to TEN NEWS at 5?? Last year it was getting numbers like 800-900k. Are people switching over to something else at 6 and that is bringing down the average? To do the mid 500s and be beaten by both Hot Seat and Deal is shocking!

  61. Michael August 25, 2011 at 10:16 am -

Another strong win for Seven last night. How embarassing will it be if Nine lose this week after such a huge lead on Sunday. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
