Dylan wins Project Runway Australia

21 year old Dylan Cooper has won Project Runway Australia for 2011 defeating Craig and Johnny.

21 year old Dylan Cooper has won Project Runway Australia for 2011.

He defeated Craig Braybrook and Johnny Schembri in a three-way battle between the boys.

Cooper’s collection was noted for its “understated elegance” with the judges commenting on his trendy prints, sophistication and execution.

“I’ve really pushed myself and I’ve learned so much,” he said.

“I’ve had a wonderful time and I’m so proud.”

Updated: He wins a car, a six-page fashion feature in Madison magazine, his own show at Australian Fashion Week in 2012/2013, a trip to New York and Miami and $50,000 in cash and materials.

The ultra-camp Foxtel show returned this year after a two year absence, hosted by Megan Gale with Alex Perry as mentor.

Braybrook finished in second place and Schembri was third.

  1. Yay Dylan, young and huge potential, loved his creations, they were all just beautiful designs, he was enthusiastic. Megan Gayle get off the show you keep modelling you are not a great host, Alex you looked constipated in the last episode, all up, new Dylan was going to win, congratulations and looking forward to your future designs.

  2. This was the only show i committed to this year – and it’s the final reason i need to cancel my foxtel subscription.
I totally agree with Adam Oriti Art. This season was the worst.
    Bye bye Foxtel

  3. Mixed feelings about this season – Megan has no charisma or tv presence at all and is kind of cringe worthy, she really lets it the whole thing down. Alex really annoyed me but improved as the season went on when they showed him saying more than one line at a time (although the sunglasses and spray on shirts look silly – I know the sunglasses at all hours are his trademark look – but someone should tell him he looks like a dork). The contestants were OK and I think the right 3 were in the final. However the final was a bit flat for some reason. Was obvious Johnny wouldn’t win. Surprised Craig didn’t – I think age was against him.

  4. The dresses did not fall apart. The zippers broke which is very common. I was once at a wedding which was 40 minutes late because the bridesmaids zip broke and she had to be stitched into the dress.
Knew it would come down to Dylan or Craig. I’m happy either way.

  5. Should not have won.
Since day one of the original series, we’re constantly told the winner needs to produce an innovative “runway-ready” collection.
He had two dresses that fell apart right before the show, due to bad workmanship, yet that wasn’t even touched on during judging.

    Something’s not right.

  6. So glad that Craig didn’t win. Some of them were such near copies of Valentino’s designs just like the judges touched on.
Disappointed that Johnny didn’t win- I wish he kept in those fluro belts. Thrilled for Dylan! 🙂
