Tonight on Foreign Correspondent reporter Eric Campbell interviews Geert Wilders, a Dutch right-wing politician known for his criticism of Islam.

He compares Islam to communism and fascism, the Koran to Mein Kampf and he holds the balance of power in the Netherlands. Geert Wilders is Europe’s incendiary, polarising Stop-And-Go-Back man and he won’t rest until he kills multiculturalism stone dead and shows Islam the door.

Just a decade ago, the Netherlands was one of the most welcoming countries in Europe now it’s leading Europe’s anti-immigration backlash. Wilders went to ground after 69 people were massacred in Norway by an anti-immigration fanatic. Now, in his first interview since that atrocity, he’s as strident and determined as ever and he wants to bring his message to Australia.

8pm tonight on ABC1.

  1. I suggest that a few people read the book “Infidel” by Ayaan Hirsi Ali who comes from a Muslim background and was a refugee in Holland. She had been warning about this problem with Holland being so tolerant and that this very tolerance would be used against them. She was also one who spoke about the treatment of Muslim women and tried to warn the Dutch politicians – she is also now in hiding and has threats on her life! So much for a right to make your opinions heard (she was also very concerned about the “honour killings” still happening to those who bought the same problems and culture to their new home. Unfotunately this is happening in other countries too.

  2. Jezza & Margret Alps: You both seriously need to take a good look in the mirror at yourselves. This evil little man is attacking a religion that’s done nothing wrong, the religion itself isn’t the problem its the bastards like Bin-Laden who twist the words to their own uses.

    Back to Wilders, it’s funny he compares the Koran to Mien Kampf because all the things he says give me a strong Hitler vibe from this guy. God help us if this idiot gets any real power.

  3. If anyone is not convinced, have a look at the efforts to take “Sharia Law” to the U.K. All women have a reason to be very watchful!!!!!!!!!!!!! and be afraid

  4. With more people being displaced because of civil conflict and the whole global warming or environmental degridations migration will only increase. Its really stupid and narrow minded to appose it. i have no problem when people air their feelings thats what democracy is all about, however if a person is against one thing he or she better have a solution for it, in this case if he does not want imigrants then where should they go if not in europe. Isnt this the exact kind of hatred we are trying to fight? The reality is that this will become even more of a problem, the only way to fix it is to have a reasonable and frank discussion or debate, with both views aired.

  5. Not too many comments on this programme. I am guessing because the subject matter is a little controversial. Whether you agree with this blokes views or not, the key thing (for me anyway) is that he has to be kept under 24 hour guard due to death threats and an attempted assassaination. All because of his views and willingness to express them, I thought democracy was about freedom of expression, I guess certain groups do not.
