Hamish and Andy sticking with TV

More with Nine as Hamish & Andy deny earlier media reports they are planning to return to radio.

Their season final airs tonight on Nine, but comedy duo Hamish and Andy are set to do more with Nine next year.

The pair have denied earlier media reports they are planning to return to radio.

“That is absolute hogswallop – I think that word was passed down from my grandfather,” Andy Lee told the Herald Sun. “I have no idea where that one came from. Fifi(Box) and (Jules Lund) are doing a fantastic job.

“We will instead be looking to do another TV show of some sort.”

The two signed a lucrative two-year deal with Nine and while the show hasn’t sustained its premiere figures of 1.45m, Nine has kept a positive spin on the show, especially in the younger demos.

The finale airs at 8:30pm tonight except in Melbourne where it airs at 7:30pm due to the AFL Footy Show Grand Final edition.

  1. You speaking English, Juan?

On topic now, and it seems to me – as everyone else has said – that they work on radio, but not on TV. Would be a bonus to get them back on Austereo’s stations 5 days/week *and* get rid of Fifi Box and Jules Lund at the same time.

  2. My sister and I really enjoyed Gap Year. It is really great.
And I can’t wait to see what Hamish and Andy come up with next year because I think they are great and hilarious.

  3. I don’t think they’re suited for TV either. Well not for an hour long show. After awhile I find them annoying and the some of their antics a bit silly teenager.

I don’t want them on Big Brother. Couldn’t think of anything worse.

  4. Ha! There’s no way they’re returning full times to radio. Andy (within the industry) has always been very forthcoming about work and pay ect. These guys have gotten to a point where they can demand enough money that only requires them to be funny one day a week for an hour rather than be funny 5 days a week for 2 hours at a time.

    No brainer.

  5. Odds on they’ll be drafted for Big Brother. Makes me think they’ll be more involved in the packages than Gretel or Kyle/Jackie O were, I can see them throwing to themselves doing funny bits and pieces shot through the week. It might work if they can get their live hosting skills up to scratch, the host(s) of that show need to be unbreakable.

  6. Noo Chris we dont want them on Big Brother.. you might aswell put Kyle and Jackie O.. they would make the show all about them!!!!! Disaster if that happens!! Bring back Gretel or Big Brother will fail!

  7. I personaly do not like them at all. And all they do seems like the nextdoor dude who does the same comedy and rediculous situations. I don’t even no who they fully are.. they just pop out instantly on channel 9 making it out they are famous? really i believe they are just junk tv waste of time actually.

Please lets just not hope they are not going to take a role in relation to the new ch9 Big Brother next year in 2012. I hope not. Because it will make the reality tv show big brother a mess and a rediculous show. Which may… not look… so… nice at all. They should just stick with radio and go there. They just wanna be the so what known around australia. I have no against them. But they are quite stupidity to think they go around been childish to this so what programe show they made and doing on channel 9. They wanna be the so what Rove sort of to speak and abit more. But the more stupidity they act around the more its the so what (junk programe) change the channel quick.

So if they take the show of big brother.. then big brother show will just be as bad as what Jacki O and the other one where when it was broadcasting on channel ten. The only thing i have to say. get these 2 clowns off and put them on ABC tv where they can do comedy. Seriously if channel 9 is that desparate to turn channel 9 as mad as they are with what channel ten was.. then channel 9 is starting.. to look.. alittle and more and more just like… channel ten….

  8. I’ve mostly really enjoyed Gap Year. There have been some genuinely interesting segments and some really funny moments. The roller derby, destruction derby, car show, ultimate wingman, western movie, dog accommodation, the 3 wheel car etc. Unfortunately they persisted with unfunny Shelton who IMO dragged the show down. Good job guys!
