Home & Away producer in development on US project

Home and Away series producer Cameron Welsh has a series drama in development with a US producer.

Home and Away Series Producer Cameron Welsh has his eyes set on Hollywood, having secured a US producer on a new drama series he has developed.

Described as a ‘gritty one-hour drama’ the new project is in development with production company Pariah (My Boys, Zombieland) owned by Gavin Polone (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Gilmore Girls, Panic Room).

Welsh, who began on Home and Away 12 years ago as an actor playing Mitch McColl, has signed with One Talent Management, which represents Charlize Theron and Kevin Costner, and Creative Artists Agency.

Head of One Talent, JJ Harris said, “We are so proud to represent this singularly talented creator. We anticipate great success for Cameron in the American film and Television market.”

Welsh has produced more than 1000 episodes of Home and Away, and is nominated for an AWGIE Award next week.

  1. Bring on generational change in drama in Australia. Cannot wait to move on from the Seven and Nine drama snorefest. Honestly – the rest of the world has reivented television drama as one of the most creative and innovative mediums in the world to work in and we put up suds such as H&A and PTTR as some kind of genius. It’s ridiculous. It’s a pity someone like Cameron has to look to the states to do this show instead of the network he works for, and hold him in high regard.
