Sandra Sully & Brad McEwan: “End of an era for us”

Last night Sandra Sully said goodnight to Brad McEwan, and to the audience that had watched her across 18 years. "End of an era for us, we know it is for you too. Goodnight."

Last night Sandra Sully said goodnight to Brad McEwan, and to the audience that had watched her across 18 years on TEN Late News.

“It’ really has been an honour and a privilege to bring you the Late News for the past 18 years or so,” she said.

“Thankyou for being so loyal and so supportive.

“I really have loved every minute of it,” she said.

“End of an era for us, we know it is for you too. Goodnight.”

Although tonight is the final edition of the show, last night was Sully’s final stint as presenter.

Last November she said her goodbyes when she shifted to the 6:30pm local news in Sydney, an exercise that proved to be short-lived. She returned to Late News some months go, which has itself become short-lived.

Now she will co-host the 5pm TEN News bulletin in Sydney, but will be absent to the rest of the nation.

Sports Tonight has its final programme tonight and will be morphed into TEN’s News with McEwan also seen in the Sydney market.

Sully and McEwan’s cheeky on air chemistry added to those many late nights we’ve watched and will be remembered alongside Sully’s inspired live hosting of the 9 / 11 tragedy in 2001.

Tonight also marks the final edition of Before the Game, produced by Roving Enterprises since 2003.

  1. I miss Sandra and Brad…and getting a news update whilst enjoying the banter between the two.

Come back Sandra, come back Brad….n get real Ten you just finished a great news show…..idiots.

  2. Shame on you Ten ………… I think the first rule in business is relationships with the customers, and us as viewers are the customers and I really like to watch the Late Night News and Sports Tonight as not all of us get home from work earlier than 5 – 6pm during the working week. I don’t want to resort to watching the ABC ……

Sandra Sully is such a professional, and Brad McEwan is quick witted and a great presenter.

I baffled why you baffoons at the corporate level at Ten stuff up a winning formula.

Lets see how long it will take until it returns …………..

  3. Ch 10 has gone downhill badly since Murdoch took a piece of it. The NBL on delay, and the cut backs on sport coverage in general to attempt to increase foxtel subscriptions may prove to have dire consequences. The inconsistent scheduling of shows is another concern. Its about time the networks provided stability and consistency. Yes in the short term you may think it is costly but us viewers will reward you once we can trust you !
