Today heads to Geelong

The Today show will broadcast live from Geelong on Friday, with Icehouse performing.

The Today show will broadcast live from Geelong on Friday and viewers will be treated to a free BBQ breakfast and muffins.  Icehouse will also be performing.

There will also be a $500 cash giveaway for the best Today poster. I’m detecting a theme here, but I guess they’ve been doing it for a while…

You can catch Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson, Steve Jacobs, Georgie Gardner, Ben Fordham and Richard Wilkins at Steampacket Gardens, Eastern Beach, from 5:30am. The team was also there in 2008.

Karl Stefanovic said: “Footy finals are my favourite time of year and there’s nowhere else like Cats country to get into the spirit of it. And we’re excited about bringing Icehouse – I can’t wait to hear them belting out Great Southern Land. Be warned, I will be dancing.”

Noted.

Lisa Wilkinson said: “We’ve had such a great time whenever we’ve brought the show to Geelong. Everyone makes us feel so welcome here, so Karl and I were really pleased when we found out we’d be coming back.”

Not to be outdone, next week Sunrise will be at Federation Square on Friday September 30th.

  1. @ joanna- Well just don’t watch it. Its light and fluffy, just like your cereal. Its not trying to be a serious current affairs show. You may not like it but they have a very large audience who do. Between Sunrise, Today and ABC breakfast we really do have a great choice. I use my remote heaps at breakfast.

  2. David, just because its brekkie telly doesnt mean it has to be unintelligent, pretentious and a complete waste of air time. Which the Today show has become, the rot set it about 6 years ago and has now well and truly set.

  3. who cares? this has to be the most gutter form of “news” on 9 their is- apart form A current affair and 9 news of course. The thought of grown up supposedly professional presenters on a tv breakfast news show, making the most forced fake chit chat and giggling like horny prepubescant schoolgirls and pretending to love each other so much is gross. and filling airtime with cheap rubbish like “most clicked”, meh wateva.

  4. They’re getting in early this year as they’re normally in Geelong the week of the AFL Grand Final. Perhaps they think the Cats won’t get past this weekend’s preliminary final!

  5. Have to admit that as a regular Sunrise viewer i am flicking over to Today a fair bit lately. I am finding their content has improved heaps. This morning sunrise had their regular shock jocks ( Neil Mitchell and another from Sydney) talking about the award Wayne Swan won. They mocked the award where as Laurie Oakes on Today gave a much better analysis of the award. It was at this moment after about seven years watching Sunrise i decided to start waking up with Today and it was at this moment i realised Laurie Oakes has no peer on Commercial TV.
