@catherine, I watch Body of Proof as well and Dana Delany is the primary reason why I watch it as she is very beautiful.

Noticed that Doctor Who ratings are down from the previous week. If viewers chose to wait later on to view the episode which is called The Girl Who Waited then that would be quite an irony.

    @ the facts

Your referring of AFL as “vicball” just highlights your complete ignorance and bias, hence making everything you say irrelevant.

  4. Lucky Carathanassis September 18, 2011 at 7:42 pm -

Interesting that rugby league is shown at very innapropriate hours in non traditional playing rugby league states. This is significant when ratings comparisons are being made. Aust. Rules has been given the benefit of prime time coverage in the traditional RL states for many years now. Please consider this fact when assessing the ratings figures for both of these sports. Very relevant. One sport is getting a significant free kick and the other is being treated like the plague!

Have there been any reported ratings for Twenty Something for any episodes? Surely it can’t be below 50 odd thousand?

The AFL Finals figures this year have been pretty soft on previous years, especially Melbourne. A semi final game in 2007 between West Coast and Collingwood pulled 1.6 M if I remember right. Is AFL coverage becoming less popular in the multi- channel era I wonder?

@ the facts, your continually referring to Aussie Rules Football as ‘ vicball’ is very annoying. If you don’t like it that’s fine, but i’m sure there are just as many Aussie Rules fans that don’t like Rugby League. I remember as child coming to the Gold Coast on holidays from Melbourne, and Aussie Rules was always on QLD T.V on the weekends. There is room for both codes, both North and South of the Murray.

  16. the facts September 18, 2011 at 10:29 am -

    Thanks Dave RE: secret squirrel.
I was comparing the highest rating rugby league prime time games in melb. to this year highest rating primetime vicball games in syd. But as usual secret squirrel grib wants to compare a vicball game that starts @ 8pm to a league game thats starts @12:08am Monday morning. Well done!
On a poignant note, sat nights game was the Last prime-time game of vicball that C10 will ever broadcast in the Northern states and you would have to say that after 10 years of shovelling vicball down the throats of the people above the murray, you would have the label the experiment as to nothing short of a unmitigated failure. In that time both the sydney and brisbane franchises enjoy great success but the TV rating proved the opposite. North is north and south is south. And the two shall Nevermeet.

  17. tvLUVA September 18, 2011 at 7:06 am -

  18. Dave September 17, 2011 at 10:37 pm -

    @secret squirrel

You seem to be the foolish one. Live AFL vs 3 hour delayed NRL(11:30 start time in Victoria) is hardly comparing like for like.

  19. David Knox September 17, 2011 at 10:14 pm -

David, this probably isn’t the right thread but I didn’t know where else to ask: do you have much info on the new “Television 4″ on Ch.64? We live in Newcastle and it just came up as we scanned through the channels, saying it’s launching September 18. Hadn’t heard anything about it till now and there’s scant info online…

  21. Secret Squïrrel September 17, 2011 at 9:15 pm -

@the oxymoronic facts – I see that you’re back on your tiresome twice-yearly trolling session. Why are you comparing yesterday’s AFL semi-final in Sydney with SOO from months ago? The answer to that is because if you compared like with like – AFL SF Syd (136k) against NRL SF Mel (18k) – you’d look more than a little foolish.

  22. Get real September 17, 2011 at 7:52 pm -

    @ monique

Like I said I don’t doubt for a moment Hitch is a top bloke. Surely most won’t agree with me but I just don’t feel his newsreading skills are as good as any of his competitors in Melbourne. But the wonderful country we live in is all about diversity and my opinion alone whether correct or not is just that- an opinion. Ad for the importance of the 6pm news? Well whilst I agree it is still the “major” bulletins of the commercials, we have the luxury of getting our news 24/7 these days through many other sources. We have the Internet, pay tv, and abcnews 24 to thanks for that. But I feel that hitch still believes people place a huge importance on his 6pm bulletin, times have changed we now have a wonderful thing called choice.

  23. Adam September 17, 2011 at 7:11 pm -

Ten are bleeding viewers and can’t do anything right.

Their problem is that the brand is damaged. People associate Ten News with poor quality and out of Sydney. People want local news.

Also Big Brother caused Ten long term pain because it diminished the brand as cheap and nasty.

It is difficult to change the perception of viewers. Seven for years couldn’t work out how to be number 1. Now they have a brand that is likened to good quality family viewing (although I only watch the footy on 7) and people will watch it by default. It is just how it works. Good luck Lachlan!

  24. David Knox September 17, 2011 at 1:21 pm -

Re Hawaii Five-0: It would be nice if TEN didn’t ask media to keep timeslots under embargo while they are promoting them on air.

AFL: Hawth v Syd was 37,000 on 7mate in Brissy.

  25. ryan September 17, 2011 at 12:46 pm -

    @MuchoTB
saw an ad for Hawaii five-0 for wednesdays 9.30

  26. the facts! September 17, 2011 at 12:36 pm -

crap ratings per usual for vicball in sydney. No match for the prime-time SOO footy games in melbourne which rated 250K-400K (and that was up against MC and yet vicball zealots call that crap???????).
Thankfully the swannies will be relegated to 7mate and with that ratings of <20k.

  27. Ryano September 17, 2011 at 12:09 pm -

Domination for 7 last night thanks to the AFL. 1m ave. over 3+hours Not spectacular, but good Sydney ratings given the competition for 2 hours from the NRL.

  28. Kenny September 17, 2011 at 12:05 pm -

Congrats to TEN, beating SBS1 yet again. “Damn that ABC1 putting on some decent drama that more than twice as many watched instead of our umpteenth rerun of garbage” I hear Lachlan & co. repeating again this morning.

  29. Maev....Sydney September 17, 2011 at 11:37 am -

I am not a fan….but it certainly looks like Seven made the right decision with showing the AFL…..pulled way better ratings than Better Homes and Gardens…and that I like!

  30. MuchoTB September 17, 2011 at 11:00 am -

Thanks A, did a quick youtube search to no avail. But interesting that Ten has the rights

Not sure if it will turn out to be a massive hit on the primary channel, it’d probably be a good choice for 8:30 Thursday when SGU finishes. Although following Glee at 9:30 Wednesdays or Terra Nova 9:30 Sundays could also work…they may as well give it a try, the movies they’ve been playing there have been rating terribly

  31. Joe September 17, 2011 at 10:46 am -

David what did the AFL rate on 7mate in Brisbane?

  32. Dave September 17, 2011 at 9:44 am -

    @Greg

Channel 9 owns Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin and NBN(Newcastle).

WIN owns Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania, ACT, Wollongong and every other regional area.

  33. A. September 17, 2011 at 5:09 am -

Thanks David for the figures. :)

    @ MuchoTB

There’s a promo running presumably on Ten but I can say also Eleven as I saw it on Thursday night that shows Terra Nova as well as a lot of other programmes including Ringer. You might be able to find it somewhere that shows videos if you want to see for yourself.

    Re: Peter Hitchener

I’ve always liked him just not how the news reporting went downhill after Brian Naylor left. And the problem wasn’t the newsreader. As I’ve mentioned I like and respect him too bad they don’t respect the news. Although I rarely watch Nine now. But the rare time I do I’m happy I don’t do it too often.

  34. Michael. September 16, 2011 at 11:54 pm -

@Get Real – Get Real mate, News is a serious. Only 3 head news anchor’s at 9 in Melb. The late Sir Eric Pearce, the late Brian Naylor and now Peter Hitchener, head anchor of 9 news for 12 going on 13 years. I think he may have an idea about how 2 read the news!! Seem’s as if in ur comments you know a lot, at least you must be watching. Good man!! We all have our own opinion, free speak is what its about. Cheer mate.

  35. MuchoTB September 16, 2011 at 8:08 pm -

ryan, where did you hear that Ten will be airing Ringer? I wasn’t able to track down any information about it from MediaSpy, TVCentral or a Google search.

It’d probably be a good fit for summer, or Eleven.

BTW I’ve seen the pilot, it’s pretty good so far.

  36. Moanique in Brisbane September 16, 2011 at 4:28 pm -

@ Get Real, I totally disagree with your comments about Peter Hitchener below. I know Peter personally and have worked with him over the years. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met, as well as being one of the most professional newsreaders in this country. You say that he thinks the 6pm news bulletin is the most important news bulletin of the day, well I think it is too. Most working people don’t see mid-morning, afternoon, or late night news, so the 6pm bulletin is the most important of the day, and the ratings reflect this. Whenever I return to Melbourne for work or play, I always tune into Peter at 6pm, a trip to Melbourne wouldn’t be the same without it.

  37. Joe September 16, 2011 at 4:27 pm -

Oh dear I didn’t think it could get any worse for Nine News Perth, but 58k there is pathetic. Sinking to new lows.

@ steve sydney: most fans will tell youpast seasons are good. I think they are, it is quality Aussie drama!

  41. Greg September 16, 2011 at 2:06 pm -

@ Kenny & Joe – The reason for the 6pm news in Perth being dominated by 7 is for two reasons. Firstly as one of you mentioned the AFL was on 7 for many, many years, so it was the station that the people of Perth turned to for their footy news and secondly the two news readers; Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon have been reading the news together for 26 years now. Nine Perth have tried many combinations to pick up 7 viewers but withouth any real success and really are now probably just waiting for Rick and Susannah to retire before they have another real crack at it.

Ps. I’m nost sure about 9′s ownership in Perth, but I can’t recall ever seeing any reference to WIN at any stage in the past.

  42. steve sydney September 16, 2011 at 1:44 pm -

I’ve started with Rush this season.

Can anyone tell me if previous seasons were just as good? Shame it’s not getting the numbers. I think TEN should move it after new episodes on L&O SVU when they start up to give it a better lead in..

  43. eyespy September 16, 2011 at 1:29 pm -

    Re. At home with Julia.
What exactly is this show meant to be?
Satire, caricature or plain comedy. Whatever it is it falls flat on all three.
The ABC in it’s quest for ratings is stooping to giving us drivel like this and it deserves to fail.
The benchmark for political satire was the wonderful BBC series ‘Yes Minister” but it would appear the ABC thinks we will accept mediocrity. Think again aunty.

  44. Cliff September 16, 2011 at 11:06 am -

Good News World lost almost half its audience this week and I will be one of the many giving it a miss next Monday. A wonderful cast of talented people (OK except for Sammy J and Randy) let down by an appalling concept and unfunny material. Such a shame they are destroying a once really enjoyable and thoughtful programme just so Paul gets a chance to appear to be in control and warble a tune. RIP GNW.

  45. Nik C September 16, 2011 at 10:44 am -

With Ch 7 dominating most nights…
Thursdays will not change for fans of Rush or Crownies. Crownies is keeping consistent figures, but time change in Oct won’t help it! Will it be back next year? And Rush will also continue to struggle against Geek :( Ch 10 possibly cementing its demise with tax exemption no longer an option and rolling out last season to earn much needed drama points!!

  46. alvar September 16, 2011 at 9:57 am -

Nine can’t really complain with the figures for hamish & andy. anything above 700-800k on a thursday night is good.

Ten should definately flip SVU and Rush around. SVU held most of Rush’s figure, it would probably have done better at 8.30. I think Rush would have benefited from a better night of the week than thursday, when viewer numbers are down. Ten should have also rolled it out earlier in the year, perhaps following the conclusion of Offspring and taking over that timeslot.

  47. Moanique in Brisbane September 16, 2011 at 9:38 am -

@ Get Real & jmgirl, The only bad thing I said about At Home with Julia before it aired was that I had seen Amanda Bishop impersonate Julia Gillard before, and she wasn’t very good, I still believe that is the case. I can assure you I have watched both episodes so far. The first I enjoyed, the second was rubbish, and won’t be watching again, so you won’t see me comment on the show again.

  48. John September 16, 2011 at 9:35 am -

Anybody who likes At Home With Julia have no respect with the office. Thank goodness there are only 4 episodes.

  49. Rutzie September 16, 2011 at 9:23 am -

I don’t get those figures for TBBT. The 7pm repeat pulls 678,000 but then the 7.30pm repeat pulls an extra 100,000 viewers and then an extra 50,000 decide to watch the 8pm repeat. Did people think the 7.30pm & 8pm episodes were new? I think Seven should have premiered B&TGeek this week because Gap Year is struggling and X Factor would’ve given it a better lead in than what Four Weddings will give it next week.

  50. Tony Bee September 16, 2011 at 9:23 am -

I’ve watched both eps of At Home with Julia now. Verdict: Not funny.

  51. Get real September 16, 2011 at 4:00 am -

    @Monique
I doubt you even watched at home with Julia . U rubbished it before it aired. I thought it was great.

Am happy with xfactor this year. Looking forward to the live shows. Apart from a bast improvement without Kyle , I think Monday and tuesday is a better fit for the show unlike last years Sunday/Monday .

On a negative, how much more pathetic can a current affair and today tonight get? Also 9 news Melbourne I’m sure hitch is a nice guy but he just takes himself to seriously he tries too hard to sound like a newsreader and sounds unnatural. Then put a team of junior reporters around him , Livinia and u have the worst commercial news broadcast. Peter is too old school he still thinks his 6pm “bulletin” is the most important news show of the day! Wake up Peter your “bulletin” is as irrelevant as the whole pathetic network that employs you to read an autocue for about 13 minutes a night.

  52. MuchoTB September 16, 2011 at 1:13 am -

I’m happy with the final 12 on The X Factor – apart from Guy Sebastian axing Josh Brookes and Trent, I reckon they made the right decision on all counts

Looking forward to the live shows!

OMG Ringer is coming to Ten!! Sarah michelle gellar is my favourite actress and is god dam hot, this is gonna be sooo dam awesome:) Thanks Ten. Also finally noticed a big promo for Ten.

  54. Joe September 15, 2011 at 6:14 pm -

@Kenny The reasons for Nine being behind in Perth and Adelaide a lot is probably the AFL and also the Win Ownership. Win seem reluctant to change at first (It took them about 2 years to re introduct Nine’s ‘dotty’ logo into Adelaide and Perth and also they finally changed their Adelaide set just last year years behind the rest. Also Sevens presenters in Adelaide have been around for 20 + years where as Nine news’ have only been doing the main call for 2 years.

  55. jmgirl September 15, 2011 at 4:53 pm -

@Moanique in Brisbane – give us a break – you were trashing this before it even aired. Surprised if you even watched it.

If Wil Anderson goes off on one on Gruen I get irritated because he does not seem to know when to stop, he just drags it out til it ain’t funny anymore. Case in point his stupid monkey jokes last night. He is a little juvenile at times too.

I loved the guest that didn’t award the pitch to either of them because both ended up making the ABC same as everyone else. I get the feeling that man can sell directly into your brain!

  57. Nik C September 15, 2011 at 3:01 pm -

@ D@GP I loved the Glasshouse as all three hosts balanced each other. The one I miss most is Corinne Grant!

  58. Ryano September 15, 2011 at 2:02 pm -

9 News Perth need a likable personality to front the news. I suggest they look to poach one of Seven’s weekend news presenters.
    Emmy Kubainski or Sally Bowrey?
Those figures are woeful. 9 Perth need to invest in better talent.

  59. Moanique in Brisbane September 15, 2011 at 1:23 pm -

I thought At Home With Julia was ridiculous last night, very few laughs indeed. The storyline of the three teenagers harassing Tim is very poorly acted and not at all funny imo. I won’t be watching this show again. And to think that so many people bagged Angry Boys, which was 100 percent better than this crap.

  60. D@GP September 15, 2011 at 12:53 pm -

Hamish turned up on Spicks and Specks last night and his contribution was as bland as ever.
’twill be of interest to check the ratings for tonight’s Gap Year – already halved the audience numbers since the first ep several week ago – and been dumped from the TV3 schedule in NZ…

Julia was a tad down last night – hope it revives for the last 2 eps.

And isn’t Wil Anderson a curiosity?
When he hosted the Glass House on ABC BG (Before Gruen), we couldn’t stand his style of humour and smut.
Yet, in Gruen, we’re finding him quite entertaining.

    Go figure…

  61. Kenny September 15, 2011 at 12:19 pm -

My teens laughed like crazy during At Home With Julia last night – for the minute when the dog appeared. “Bill” stole the show. Rest of the time they were asking “is this a comedy or what’s it supposed to be?”. Couldn’t answer that. Very tasteless, humourless and insulting to the PM’s partner. The so-called “comedy” writing is of very poor standard.

  62. Kenny September 15, 2011 at 12:14 pm -

Wow, the budget for champagne at TEN must be running over this week again. Celebrating yet another night when they beat SBS1.
Could TEN actually come in 3rd to ABC1 this week?
@Joe – and Nine News in Adelaide similar to Nine Perth. What is it with 9 News in Adel & Perth being so low – both being WIN (not Nine O&O) stations?

  63. jmgirl September 15, 2011 at 11:43 am -

I thought ep 2 Julia was really good but very diff to ep 1 – and may have put some people off for that reason. But I gather from ep summary that ep 3 is back to politicians and shenanigans at the Lodge so I’m excited.

  64. steve sydney September 15, 2011 at 11:40 am -

Australia says no to Glee repeats. Take yet another note TEN

As for Julia, the second episode was lacking however it’s clear as day that dog is stealing the whole show. He’s sooo cute!!

  65. Craig September 15, 2011 at 11:29 am -

    @TDJ

    That’s an insult to toilets!

  70. TDJ September 15, 2011 at 12:15 am -

Isn’t it just typical of this toilet called channel Nine. Once again blaming a program for their own utter incompetence. They never gave TGA a decent go, like many programs on this crap network. It is quite amazing that they bring up ratings. Why is it that they are so quick to ditch TGA, yet with far lower ratings “The Voice” on GO! was kept on for multiple nights. Just proves the whole ratings thing is rubbish.

  71. Secret Squïrrel September 14, 2011 at 9:39 pm -

TGA was ok, and I thought Pizzati was fine. I didn’t mind the other two either. It was never going to match the original but it prob would’ve pulled reasonable figures if Nine hadn’t treated it so badly. They should’ve just dropped it into TG’s spot when they had finished the current series and then played all the eps, not just a couple before booting off the schedule it for months.

Nine really know how to devalue an otherwise popular franchise. When you get less people watching new UK eps than used to watch repeats on SBS, you know something is amiss.

  72. steve sydney September 14, 2011 at 8:15 pm -

Opps I meant Sun Mon Tues … lol

  73. A. September 14, 2011 at 7:26 pm -

So the 46,000 was Ep 1. Did it go down much for Ep 2 on Tuesday right after? Sorry for not mentioning them sneaking in two episodes. I’ll admit I’m pleased it seems OK numbers for that time from just a viewer. I hope they are pleased too. And I hope that means Chuck stays until they finish playing them all like they did with Pushing Daisies.

  74. ompman September 14, 2011 at 6:51 pm -

I know ch 10 has been giving out freebies to it’s advertisers but could they please stop now?

If I have to see that flipping Yellow Pages ad one more time I think I may need the men in white coats!!

Or Ford Territory, or Bunnings, or Rexona.

You are just making me angry to the point of ignoring those companies completely.

@steve sydney. Think the issue is more with what else is either on or not on re the renovators and how it rates. 719k still very low considering how much bang for your buck you get as an advertiser.

A: Chuck on Monday was 46,000.

Also twentysomething was 64,000 on Tuesday.

People with ratings boxes please make up your mind. Either you do or don’t watch The Renovators. Which is it?
