Hi David, do you know what the rating for the Queensland Cup grand final on the ABC, Sunday the 25th was?

  2. TDJ October 3, 2011 at 1:53 pm -

There is clearly no regulation on networks to do anything correctly. The EPG’s are a good example. The people inputting the information are either lazy or illiterate. Possibly they are footballers being given a job because they are not capable of doing anything else. Who ever they are they can rarely string a sentence together. Spelling is obviously foreign to them. So it is no surprise that some networks can not even get daylight savings right. Most home computers and mobile phones change automatically. How useless do you have to be as a large company to not get it right. Networks broadcast their incompetence as is evident by their inability to get a simple thing like text and time correct. One wonders if network execs are capable of reading this.

Cant wait for this mornings Ratings!!

    Gooooo!!!!! NRL!!!!!

And hopefully Channel 9 Smashes it!! and Wins the Week!!!!!

  4. col October 2, 2011 at 6:01 pm -

@Gary and A,Ive got a playtv and my tv is a panasonic HD and they both said the same , ill check when i get home again , many thanks.

  5. Matthew See October 2, 2011 at 5:15 pm -

Bizarre that even though Doctor Who had an increase in ratings of 100000 it still went down in the rankings.

  6. A. October 2, 2011 at 4:44 pm -

    @ Gary

They must of fixed it. As it now reads normal for me too.

    @ merlin

If you’re in Brisbane you might be getting Sydney or Melbourne’s daylight saving signal with channel Seven. Check the other channels. I’ll point out in Melbourne it’s correct.

  7. ryan October 2, 2011 at 3:39 pm -

where are the figures for die hard for perth? it was on after ice age

  8. Gary October 2, 2011 at 1:37 pm -

    @A and col

Ten on my EPG is stating 8:32pm so I guess it depends on what box or tv you have

  9. A. October 2, 2011 at 1:10 pm -

    @ col

You’re right. I’ve adjusted for daylight savings and in Melbourne it lists Terra Nova at 22.39 plus on Eleven Flying High II at 22.32 . I don’t know what’s normal for One but I think it may be messed up too. Because the current show is meant to be Fear Factor listed as 14.30 and if you see above it’s around 13.00 .

I’ve checked ABC1 and GO! to test things and they seem to be correct.

  10. Johnson October 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm -

Thanks David for the horse racing figures.

  11. Michael October 2, 2011 at 12:53 pm -

@ william, actually Ten beat both Seven and Nine last night. It’s their network shares that let them down.

While I enjoy Raymond, are all those episodes necessary on Saturdays? Why don’t ELEVEN play movies on Saturday nights. I’m not saying they should go down the GO! path and play movies every bloody night, but movies on Saturdays would rate well. Or some new content for Saturday, something better than their current “Retro Night”.

  12. col October 2, 2011 at 12:33 pm -

Has any one else noticed that the Channel 10 EPG is 2 hours ahead of its self , they have the news at Five at 7pm and Terra Nova listed at 22.39pm , what gives man.

  13. David Knox October 2, 2011 at 12:15 pm -

Nine’s Horseracing was 66,000 with 27,000 in Sydney.

  14. Johnson October 2, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

David, can you tell us how many people watched horse racing from Sydney yesterday? Thanks. BTW, the AFL Grand Final pulled 2.63 million, the lowest total since 2007, when 2.572 million watched Geelong thrash Port Adelaide by 119 points in the season decider.

  15. william October 2, 2011 at 11:52 am -

Channel 10 Suck!!! They lost to Channel 7 and almost lost to Channel 9!!! Hahaha!!!!!!! That’s So Freaking Funny! How can you lose that. Hahah!!

  16. Guy October 2, 2011 at 11:32 am -

TEN missed the biggest opportunity to launch their new News service last night. 1.9m tuned into Seven’s News last year and instead TEN decided to air it at 8:30pm after a movie. Sure the movie did well for a Saturday but think about it. TEN is a lost cause now. They just don’t know how to schedule anymore. House on Fridays? Seriously?

  17. Secret Squïrrel October 2, 2011 at 11:22 am -

Penn & Teller was great last night. Some of the tricks were amazing.

  18. Michael October 1, 2011 at 10:28 pm -

Thanks David for the Craig Ferguson info.

  19. william October 1, 2011 at 7:15 pm -

Hey David! if it’s also possible what does Kerri-Anne get on Nine. to compare it with The Morning Show on Seven? Thanks Heaps!

  20. Kenny October 1, 2011 at 4:05 pm -

@Ryano – “The reason the NRL Footy Show ratings are so low on Thursday nights is because the core demographic are blue collar workers who have to get up early for their brick laying and fork lifting jobs.”. Um, doesn’t apply to AFT Footy Show viewers? Huh? Please explain your theory?

  21. Ryan October 1, 2011 at 2:05 pm -

Before the Game was hilarious last night, such a great show. I’m really think ten should keep it for next yr to keep some kind of connection to the afl and there is no better show for it. And since they don’t have afl games on saturdays or fridays they could put it in a slot and leave it.

  22. Maev....Sydney October 1, 2011 at 1:21 pm -

Nice to see Better Homes and Gardens on top again…and pulling much better figures…

  23. william October 1, 2011 at 12:25 pm -

Thank you very Much David! and I love your Site!!

  24. David Knox October 1, 2011 at 12:17 pm -

William: Craig Ferguson was 32,000 on Friday.

  25. MillerT1 October 1, 2011 at 11:49 am -

I think one thing that hasn’t been considered yet is how Seven will fare next year without Better Homes and Gardens on a Friday during the AFL offseason. I think it’s certain that the leads Seven are currently getting will move from Thursday to Friday and Fridays will certainly be a lot closer next year during this time.

  26. steve sydney October 1, 2011 at 7:18 am -

Is it possible that NRL fans just think The Footy Show is terrible and that’s why no one watches? Honestly it doesn’t mean people don’t like the sport just because trash on Nine doesn’t rate well.

As for Rush, I am really enjoying this season however it’s getting a bit crowded with most characters having their own crisis. The officer rape story, the drug taking officer and then there’s the bosses son getting targeted. Couldn’t the writers just resolve one problem before introducing another 2?

  27. william October 1, 2011 at 1:25 am -

    David! Can you Please!!

  28. A. September 30, 2011 at 11:52 pm -

Thanks David in particular for the Thursday figures. :)

  29. william September 30, 2011 at 11:45 pm -

David! Can you tell me the ratings for the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and his average. Please Thanks

  30. Harry September 30, 2011 at 7:12 pm -

Rush is getting more brilliant per week. This season is beyond anything I expected. Great stuff.. kills all its competition even though the ratings dont reflect it.

  31. Ryano September 30, 2011 at 6:24 pm -

The reason the NRL Footy Show ratings are so low on Thursday nights is because the core demographic are blue collar workers who have to get up early for their brick laying and fork lifting jobs.

  32. catherine September 30, 2011 at 6:09 pm -

Wow the NRL footy show is just sinking isnt it. Cant even get 160,000 viewers to watch the grand final show.

  33. Ryan September 30, 2011 at 6:02 pm -

Another great ep of Rush last night! too bad the figures don’t show it.
It would prob do better @ 9.30 after new svu( which has started )

  34. Goonies September 30, 2011 at 4:29 pm -

I am a Rush fan but have to record it as my partner does not like. I have a ratings box so it will only get marked as timeshifted recording :(

Also watched ‘Love in the Time of HIV’ las night (recorded from Wed), which was excellent.

I am enjoying Lockdown on 7mate. Who’d work in the prison system in the US? Unbelievable!

  35. IRT September 30, 2011 at 3:46 pm -

Beauty and the Geek – half the show was an advert for some movie – very tacky – and there were so many adverts anyway. Last time for me.

  36. Jerome September 30, 2011 at 2:28 pm -

i dont think the X factor decider shows are dragged out at all. i was entertained from start to finish, even with the reality show aspects taken out it would still be a very watchable variety show, the performances on Wed were great.

significant drop for Geek, but next week it will be against Rush and Unforgettable which should be much easier competition than Gap year and GF Footy Show. there were some pretty funny moments last night like
Colin: so what type of animal is a koala?
    Gaia: a placenta!
    Colin: uh no.

  37. pete September 30, 2011 at 12:29 pm -

I Can’t Believe It!! NRL Footy Show: Sydney and Brisbane are B****y S**t
But at least Brisbane gained about 20k. But where im from Sydney, Iv’e got know i dear what to Say!! Sydney your the Big B****y Id***s!!!!!!
I just don’t get it Seriously, it was the best Show all year!
They were in Beatiful Darling Harbour and there was::Hugh Jackman, ACDC, Michelle Mahone, Fatty, Fittler, Brohman, Rabs Warren, A Voss, B Marshall, D Lockyer, B Ryan, S Shackleton or (Moi Moi) CEO David Gallop, (Sea Eagles) J Lyon and S Matai, (Warriors) F Mateo and K Inu, Tahir and Mario Fenech!!! And people still don’t care im out of here Cya! Laters! Sydnians Im Goooooone iv’e had Enough!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. Craig September 30, 2011 at 12:06 pm -

@JB – PTTR/Parenthood – not to defend their programing choice and I too have lost interest in the Rafter and W&L which I stopped watching after a few eps but Parenthood was not on for much of the time and has only recently come back on in the US. Personally I thing Parenthood is a much better show than both of them, thus my web link on my name :D

  39. Ted September 30, 2011 at 11:38 am -

I’m watching the afl footy show right now which i tape last night I just wanna say i’m a nrl fan and the afl footy is way better than the nrl .They know how to entertain the audience with all the music, guest and many other things Wow!

  40. JamesP September 30, 2011 at 11:14 am -

What an absolute disgrace the NRL footy show ratings are. They should shut the NRL Footy Show down and replace it with the AFL Coast to Coast. The ratings would cop a hit (although not much as the ratings in NSW/QLD aren’t that good anyway), but they would save millions a year on production costs and reduced salaries to Fatty etc.

  41. Jarred September 30, 2011 at 11:11 am -

I thought the ratings for the AFL footy show would be higher. Why Ch9 didn’t put it on at 8.30pm in all AFL cities I don’t know, but if I remember right, last year the GF edition in Melbourne got over 600k. Oh well, the show was excellent nonetheless, particularly the sketches at the beginning (I don’t like Mondays sketch was hilarious).

  42. Steve September 30, 2011 at 11:03 am -

I don’t think you’ll see that sort of over run on XF results again – when it moves back to Tuesday, Seven will come down hard on Fremantle if it runs late into Rafters!

  43. Adam September 30, 2011 at 10:31 am -

@NJK Agree that editing of commentary on Gruen Planet is detrimental. Not sure how Will Anderson would feel about being called Adam Hills though I understand this is a common mistake made by many that goes both ways with those two.
@JB Agree again that The Renovators is a lost cause. They are just doing too much off the script that people are wanting – actual renovating. The contestants appear to have skills but we just don’t see them being applied on their houses. I would love to see behind the scenes footage from the houses because with all the challenges and talking to camera the majority of the actual renovating seems to be being done by either a band of magic elves or professional tradespeople.

  44. Adam September 30, 2011 at 10:28 am -

I would think Nine must be disappointed with having 2 massive Footy Show productions and not getting ot 1 million. Half the audience was in Melbourne as usual.

  45. MuchoTB September 30, 2011 at 10:20 am -

Woeful figures for Rush, 665k is terrible in an 8:30 timeslot, even for Ten

Beauty and the Geek dropped 200k from last week as well

  46. Nik C September 30, 2011 at 10:05 am -

Thursday nights have some of the best Aussie dramas and the worst figures! Makes me sad & I hope networks take note that the worst night isn’t good for comparisons!!

  47. Kieran September 30, 2011 at 9:56 am -

Considering the ‘grand final’ edition of the Footy Show, Sydney and Brisbane ratings are very poor, no different from the average week. However, in Melbourne, excellent ratings, and a fantastic show! I can’t speak for Sydney and Brisbane however!

  48. JB September 30, 2011 at 9:01 am -

Sorry but i thought i was watching The Renovators last night, not Four Weddings. It’s the last few weeks of the show, so show the bloody renovations. I ended up watching something else, I didn’t want to watch a bloody wedding on a renovation show. Hard to defend the show, when it does stupid challenges like this. I understand the need for challenges. I like the white room for example, it’s relevant with styling etc.

  49. Njk September 30, 2011 at 7:22 am -

This comment is a bit belated but did anyone else think the editing of Gruen Planet was a bit ‘death by a thousand cuts’? I know these shows need to be edited but time and again we would delve into an issue, have each person say one line then the rest of their comments would be blatantly cut. The show rates well, the panel ha e good things to say…why not make it a one-hour slot rather than 30 minutes? They way it is at the moment they just gloss over stuff that deserves more time. And can Adam Hills drop the totally pointless and unfunny segues eg: ‘Gruen, now with less fat’ or something equally lame.

  50. col September 29, 2011 at 10:07 pm -

@Jellyman , i disagree that NCIS should move to Sunday Night , its a tuesday night favourite and should stay as such.

  51. TVluva September 29, 2011 at 6:04 pm -

Ouch @ 2.5men 7pm repeat on 9. Nine just doesnt learn or listen, why replay the same episode for the 47th time 9? 600k rating for 7pm? That’s more than what you deserve for this hideous programming decision.

  52. Jellyman September 29, 2011 at 5:42 pm -

If Ten has to get the Ratings Back Up, it needs a Strategic Plan. Glee needs to air Earlier on a Wednesday or a Thursday Night, i want Masterchef Thursday Elimination to Return to a 30 Minute Format in 2012. And Ten needs to Move NCIS to Sunday Nights.

  53. Belinda September 29, 2011 at 4:11 pm -

Wouldn’t Ringer go better with Glee and Terra Nova pair better with Hawaii 5-0? What is going on with the Ten programming department. I think season 3 of Glee is looking better than the disasterous second season too.

  54. JB September 29, 2011 at 3:47 pm -

@Jezza. Disagree, pairings do matter these days because networks just can’t stick to the schedule and start or finish shows on time. Therefore pairings is now more important than ever. I would always watch PTTR and then Parenthood. When 7 switched PTTR for Winners & Losers, i eventually stopped watching Parenthood, and now stopped watching Rafters. It was a pair that worked, they broke it.
NCIS LA rated terribly, but when it was paired with NCIS it rates pretty well now.
And i’m not gonna sit through how ever long waiting for X-Factor to finish so i can watch the show after, if it’s not on then i’ll switch to something else.
So if networks are gonna run shows overtime, they need to pair it with a show for the same audience, otherwise both shows will suffer.

  55. Maev....Sydney September 29, 2011 at 3:05 pm -

I enjoyed Send in the Dogs…..not bad figures….condsidering its limited audience appeal.

  56. Jezza September 29, 2011 at 2:39 pm -

@ JB I think you put too much emphasis on pairing, remotes are great for switching in to the show you want to watch and away when you don’t. My kids watch glee, but they don’t get sucked in by any of the stuff that surrounds it. As soon as XF finished last night it was over to SBS and The Hotel, followed by Sons Of Anarchy on ONE for me. Whatever was on around these shows I did not give a stuff about. Like others I don’t think I will bother with XF results shows any more due to the over runs and how long it is dragged out. Looking at the way the numbers move up and down between shows just highlights that a large proportion of the audience do the same.

  57. JB September 29, 2011 at 1:11 pm -

Hawaii Five-O is great. Sucks it’s not rating here. Terrible pairing with Glee though. And Glee at 8.30 was a bad move too.

Ten has a great line up of shows. But when it comes to programming them into schedule they stuff up big time. Glee, Modern Family, TBYG, H5-O, House, Renovators…All great shows, but when it comes to programming, their decisions with changing timeslots, times, repeats have ruined these shows. Ten’s decision with Renovators debut ruined it’s chances right from the start. Ten = great shows = stupid decision making.

  58. Craig September 29, 2011 at 12:15 pm -

Hawaii Five-0 needs to be on Sunday night’s, it would be good paired with Terra Nova.

  59. Kenny September 29, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

And, oh look. TEN fails to beat ABC1 yet again, even with new season Glee and Hawaii 5-0.

  60. Gary September 29, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

Hawaii Five-0 is only succeeding in the States because it is on CBS. Had this show been on any other network it would have failed just like it has here. H50 has failed in quite a number of other countries. This show is no good and can’t believe it’s still on the air.

  61. steve sydney September 29, 2011 at 10:16 am -

I think I prefer Gruen Planet to Transfer. Both are hilarious but Planet discussing things that everyone else is talking about comes off as more interesting to me at least.

I think it’s time Glee returned to Thursday nights, where it had always had it’s best ratings. Perhaps after The Renovators have finished because those are terrible numbers and it’s doing nothing for H5-O

  62. MuchoTB September 29, 2011 at 10:07 am -

Glee season three has been pretty mediocre IMO. I enjoyed season one and two but this year something has been missing. Not surprised at the 300k drop in viewers, it has been losing viewers in the States as well.

Hawaii Five-O season two is dead in the water, which is a shame as it’s a very entertaining series.

  63. Frankie September 29, 2011 at 9:54 am -

Rather enjoyed At Home With Julia last night, best of the 4 eps. Some of the line from K Rudd could have been written yesterday.

  64. Kenny September 29, 2011 at 9:52 am -

Poh’s Kitchen and even 6:30 with George had more viewers than Hawaii 5-0?
Gruen Planet Transfer so cheap but so great. Renovators so expensive and so bad.
Big turn off at 9:30 before Julia.

  65. Tony Bee September 29, 2011 at 9:46 am -

The ratings for Glee are surprising. This season is shaping up as a good one.

  66. Jellyman September 29, 2011 at 9:18 am -

Once The Renovators Finishes, Ten will Move Glee down to 7:30 Wednesday Nights.

  67. smiley_mick September 29, 2011 at 9:11 am -

The Renovators rated higher than Glee??
CSI helped Nine clearly into 2nd for Wednesday.
