Another Australian comedy to have a US adaptation? This time ABC1’s black comedy, Laid, created by Marieke Hardy and Kirsty Fisher.
The series about a woman whose former boyfriends begin to die under suspicious circumstances, aired on ABC1 earlier this year and is currently in production on its second season.
NBC has picked up the rights to the format to be produced by BermanBraun (Alphas, Junk Gypsies, Is She Really Going Out With Him?) and adapted by Ali Rushfield (Help Me Help You).
Rushfield, Lloyd Braun, Gail Berman and Gene Stein are executive producing. Talent and literary agency International Creative Management helped seal the deal.
Following on from the success of Wilfred, it could have potential to take on a new direction under US producers.
Season Two, relocated to Melbourne from Sydney, will air on ABC1 next year.

Always skeptical but is a concept open to interpretation! I love the show though
Awesome. Lovely show, great women who wrote the Oz version.
