Flesh Air – did anyone see the first episode last week. I know as a girl I am not suppose to like naked girls but it was awesome, I love art and was so taken by the design that the guy did on her body it looked so real. Thank you TVS I and my boyfriend can’t wait till this weeks show tonight.

@David , could you please tell me when the final week of the ratings are for this year.

  5. meiji_era October 16, 2011 at 6:41 pm -

The celebration continues on TEN studios as they beat SBS One by 7.9 on a Saturday night.

  6. Craig October 16, 2011 at 4:09 pm -

Love how the ABC smashed TEN and was just a point away from talking 2nd from Nine.

  7. eyespy October 16, 2011 at 2:06 pm -

    @ sideline.
Your cryptic reply has me baffled.
If you are inferring that I am having a dig at the ‘fairer sex’ you would be wrong.
I love them all, even their little foibles.

David what did Fear Factor and Cops get last night on One? Cheers

  9. John October 16, 2011 at 10:59 am -

    Doc Martin was great Tv.

  10. Michael October 16, 2011 at 10:51 am -

All the networks treat us with such contempt on a Saturday night. Not all of us go out… The viewing choices are just dire.

  11. Cookie October 16, 2011 at 10:42 am -

    Loved Doc Martin brilliant

  12. sideline October 16, 2011 at 10:04 am -

@eyespy: Are you even aware that your comments reveal more about you than your “mates spouses” or your interpretation of some Scottish survey of viewer habits from some years back?

  13. Belinda October 15, 2011 at 10:57 pm -

That’s about what I thought House would do on Fridays. Even when the shows total ratings were sliding the younger demos were still pretty good, so I don’t know why Ten thought it would do well on Fridays. Especially when Monday 9.30 is vacant.

Prime Suspect is going okay on Gem, probably due to the lack of British dramas on ABC1/2 and 72. Perhaps this is the time Law and Order UK should have returned to Ten’s schedule? Do they have the rights to any other British dramas?

  14. Robert October 15, 2011 at 9:30 pm -

what did you watch last night David.? Friday

  15. MuchoTB October 15, 2011 at 4:24 pm -

House flopped hard. So much for the world’s most popular TV show

Rules of Engagement on 293k is even worse

I’m not even going to comment on the numbers for the Terra Nova repeat

  16. eyespy October 15, 2011 at 3:42 pm -

    @ John from sunny coast.
Some years back I remember of a survey carried out in Scotland researching viewers habits.
When it came to commercial channels, 60% of females responded that they watched shows more for the ads. than for the programme content.
    Probably much the same here.
The spouses of some of my mates scan every piece of junk mail to see where they can go to get 10 cents off a tin of baked beans etc. (They are all quite well off by the way). No kidding!

  17. Ryan October 15, 2011 at 2:40 pm -

Ten really need to understand what majority demo is watching on fridays! That demo is mainly 25-54 and over so start to bring in new shows that target those demos instead of throwing all your shows around to see if they will work.

  18. Scott October 15, 2011 at 12:51 pm -

It is clear that Ten cannot even be bothered trying to produce a decent Friday night schedule. They simply accept defeat and roll over and take it.

  19. MJR October 15, 2011 at 12:50 pm -

Another shocker for ten on fridays.just keep changing days for shows and people just give up on them.
back to movies soon i quess.devel wears prada is due to be on soon or more bridget jones diaries.
    Or move SYTYD back.

  20. Rayne October 15, 2011 at 12:41 pm -

House should not be on a Friday night. Mondays at 9.30 would be much better.

  21. Kenny October 15, 2011 at 12:24 pm -

Congratulations TEN. You beat SBS1 by a whopping 2.5 – well done CEO Lachlan.

  22. smiley_mick October 15, 2011 at 11:14 am -

Only a matter of time until GO! or 7TWO beats Channel TEN on a Friday night.

  23. MJL October 15, 2011 at 10:37 am -

Thought My Sisters Keeper would rate more seeing it was one of the top trends on twitter last night.

  24. Jacob October 15, 2011 at 10:29 am -

Ten must be very disappointed. I love Network Ten’s new Friday Nights.

  25. Jellyman October 15, 2011 at 10:27 am -

  26. Craig October 15, 2011 at 10:21 am -

Those are sad numbers for TEN last night. At least House did better then RoE, just wondering how long before they replace them both with a movie?

    Hi David,

Do you have the ratings for the SANFL grand final, on ABC on Sunday?

    Thanks,

    Josh

  30. Harry October 14, 2011 at 7:13 pm -

    @opti,
I dont think last night was about action. Michael’s like dying.. an original character. I was hoping for a more dramatic, emotional episode + thats what we got.

  31. Peter A October 14, 2011 at 6:46 pm -

@ Charlie C…. I agree, I find 6.30 actually interesting. No repeats, intelligent discussion etc. I really hope it comes back in 2012.

  32. Harry October 14, 2011 at 5:05 pm -

Rush was so moving last night – as a diehard fan it was so difficult to watch. Nicole Da Silva. That is all.

  33. Darcey09 October 14, 2011 at 4:59 pm -

    @ JB,
Shows live & die by their ratings. It is commercial television. Sadly, quality doesn’t necessarily equate to good ratings

  34. opti October 14, 2011 at 4:58 pm -

I found Rush very slow last night, took a while for some decent action…

  35. Charlie C October 14, 2011 at 3:49 pm -

I have taken to tuning into the 6:30 Negus show due to its better quality journalism and better content. Yes politics features prominently some nights, but it also covers topical and informative segments that actually educates and informs me!
The only reason TT and ACA keep showing the same stories week in week out on dodgy trades people, grocery deals, meat, milk and vege rip offs and online shopping. The promos (adverts) make me wanna gag! Can people use the remote and change the channel. I am over the constant crap and poor quality journalism, I fear our society is being degraded by all this nonsense!
(Rant over! Sorry but it really irks me!)

  36. Nik C October 14, 2011 at 3:44 pm -

I am horrified with the ratings!! There are so many quality dramas on TV and Ch7 are rewarded by viewers tuning into what I consider tragic TV.
@ John from Sunny Coast I agree with you. I am appalled with what rates highly.

Rush was excellent and Crownies will be too (when I catch up tonight)! I really wish quality shows were watched by more to encourage our great industry!

  37. A. October 14, 2011 at 3:16 pm -

Thanks David for the Thursday figures. :)

From the comments here it’s too bad I’ll miss The Slap then because they repeat it at a ridiculous time i.e. 9.20pm. I might just have a look at Prime Suspect even though it’s probably a one season show.

  38. John from Sunny Coast October 14, 2011 at 2:45 pm -

Australia must be a nation of morons. Just take a look at last nights top 5 rating shows, all on 7.
I guess ratings are not a measure of quality. If The Slap and Crownies were on channel 7 riddled with advertisements every 5 minutes they would probably rate in the 1.5 million range.

  39. Ryan October 14, 2011 at 2:20 pm -

Brilliant ep of Rush again last night and i actually got a little teary when they turned his life support off:(
I think Ten really need to help Rush out and bring in the big guns- New svu eps @ 8.30 followed by rush which would be fine and would prob hold most it’s viewers @ 9.30.

  40. Craig October 14, 2011 at 2:19 pm -

It’s kinda sad the on the one hand Rush was TENs best rated show last night but still only got 651k in 15th place.

  41. JB October 14, 2011 at 12:01 pm -

I’m gonna say the same thing i’ve said the past 8 weeks, Rush was absolutely brilliant last night. Never really been a fan of Michael but even I was crying. Callan Mulvey is an incredible actor, as too are Catherine McClements and Nicole Da Silva. It’s the best season, but sadly with those ratings it’s probably gonna be the final season. Best Aussie show on tv and it just does not rate. Gonna have the same fate as City Homicide. 2 high quality shows that will be gone too soon cos of ratings.

Amazing Race should really be on at 7.30. Wasted at 9.30. Can’t believe shows like Four Weddings get a better timeslot, and worse, that it rates. Bogan tv at its best.

  42. Nat October 14, 2011 at 11:13 am -

Hey Sydney, why do you hate Star Trek TNG so much?

  43. callas October 14, 2011 at 10:54 am -

a slow burning episode of the slap last night but made more rivetting due to the excellent perfomances of Essie Davis and the supporting cast. Bravo !

  44. Joe October 14, 2011 at 10:08 am -

Wow Seven with the top 5 shows for the night! And David Knox the NBL is on at 10.30 Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights on One. Ones decision to delay it has caused uproar amongst the Australian basketball community, although when you look at last years ratings you can see why it’s delayed. Personally I think they should show Saturday night matches live at 7.30 as what they currently show around that time doesn’t make your list David

  45. Michael D October 14, 2011 at 10:04 am -

Cheers David, appreciate it. NBL’s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night again, all 10.30pm. There also appears to be a replayed game at 7am Saturday morning this week as well.

  46. Allie October 14, 2011 at 9:56 am -

@Evan, agreed. Essie Davis was extraordinary on The Slap last night, definitely worthy of a Logie nod for Best Supporting Actress.

@Smith, indeed, I recall that the producers of The Block paid $3.6M for those four dumps in Richmond – someone definitely saw them coming. I didn’t watch the last series of TB, but I recall that the final sales figures were very disappointing and only one sold on the night. I agree with you, I think the participants at the TR auctions knew that the properties were to be sold no matter what, none were going to be passed in, hence the caginess with bidding and the bargains that were had. I still can’t get over the poor price for the three inner city properties.

  47. Smith October 14, 2011 at 9:30 am -

@allie. Yeah last word on it is that producers are paying too much for the properties which are being bought as sets rather than purely as a profit making venture and buyers now know there is a potential bargain to be had
due to the need to sell to get closure for the show. I think in terms of value for money for buyers the renovators properties were generally a lot better value than the slapped up poorly planned ones on the block.

  48. Evan October 14, 2011 at 9:21 am -

OMG “The Slap” is worth all of the hype, and more – Essie Davis on last night’s episode was amazing.

  49. David Knox October 14, 2011 at 9:09 am -

Michael: When is NBL on this weekend, I will try to pull out a current number for you then?

  50. John October 14, 2011 at 7:47 am -

Very disappointed with ONE not showing the Major League Baseball playoffs as advertised. They were supposed to show matches (replays) each morning from Wednesday to Saturday this week. Instead we have had soccer and car racing. It’s like cutting off the Rugby World Cup at semi final stage. It still won’t make me sign up for Pat TV!

  51. Allie October 14, 2011 at 7:08 am -

@Smith, yeah, that is a valid point you make re seeking valuations from agents and arriving at a median value. Obviously, the methodology used by the producers to arrive at a profit point was unrealistic, given the current economic climate. To have only one property out of six make any kind of decent profit in a market like Sydney, well, something went dramatically wrong.

  52. Michael D October 13, 2011 at 10:36 pm -

David, a few people have asked in this and last week’s comments but I didn’t see a response so I’ll put it out there again. Can you post how the NBL games went last Fri, Sat and Sun night after being shifted from live games to the 10.30pm timeslot?

  53. Smith October 13, 2011 at 9:18 pm -

Apologies for typo’s in last post. Fink my iphone fingers are on a grammatical par with the vocabulary of Peter from the half done house god bless his overdone little heart.

  54. Smith October 13, 2011 at 9:11 pm -

@allie. Thanks for your property development insights. Unfortunately as someone associated with the renovation industry these shows send the wrong message to the wider community in their current format.

Suggest that the purchase price of the property be determined as a median valuation from 3 agents – not what the producers paid as they are obviously paying a premium – look no further than the block 2011 purchase prices. This then firmly entrences in the viewers mind that there is some subjectivity about the show because as you said it’s entertaiinment. It’s definately not a
competition and more like a game show with the subjective elimination challenges.

For a show thst has widely been panned by
many for it’s shaky adaption of the MC format
it’s the straddling of reality and tv land that
leaves a synical taste in the mouth. Reports also contestants wern’t happy with how show was run. Not suprising from people who do this for a living.

  55. TVluva October 13, 2011 at 8:49 pm -

    @Sarah

What a sickening elitist attitude you have. I have a double degree and work as a medical professional. I also love my tv, and if I’m home at 530 I love to watch Deal. Chill pill woman

  56. Allie October 13, 2011 at 6:33 pm -

@Smith, chill, it’s a TV show broadcast for the entertainment of the masses, not a devious plot by the producers to deliver a collective sucker punch to viewers. Despite appearances to the contrary, property development/investment is never a sure thing, even in a desirable property market where prices have been buoyant for many years, like Sydney. Greater people than the contestants on TR have lost a bomb on property here in Sydney, that’s for sure. The market is as fickle as, and in retrospect the 20% of purchase value renovation budgets were probably unwise in the current economic climate, as it led to over-capitalisation of the properties, hence the inability of three of them to get near their profit point. I am sure the producers will learn a salient lesson from this and perhaps tweak the reno budgets to something a bit more realistic, should the show return next year.

  57. Smith October 13, 2011 at 5:53 pm -

@ Goonies. The problem i have is that they try to take it beyond entertainment and think they can fly in the face of real world realities. The whole reality renovation genre is wearing associated real world industries thin – including advertisers no doubt after this offering.

Used the word ” live ” sarcastically. Nobody said it was live but nobody on the show said it wasn’t and the way they linked it all together to pretend it was all on the same night was giving a ” live ” impression.

  58. Goonies October 13, 2011 at 5:04 pm -

@ Smith – in the real world you don’t have to worry about televising a final and you would probably sit on your property until the market got better. And again who said it was a live finale?

I agree with JB results were good and the final very enjoyable.

@ Harry – I hated her too, loved that her whole family were bad fake blondes :)

  59. Harry October 13, 2011 at 4:17 pm -

Renovators finale was better than The Block Finale. The houses were great. I hated Mel.

  60. sarah October 13, 2011 at 2:24 pm -

Dear or No Deal continues to sink in the ratings, I always knew that show was trash from day 1 a show that does not encourage society to think just scream out numbers and act like idiots.. but thats typical of the auidence at 530pm.. if we could look into the demographics I bet we would find the bulk of the people who watch Deal or No Deal have little education or are bumbs on welfare.. whilst those with education money to spend who can think for themselves are watching other channels!

  61. A. October 13, 2011 at 1:56 pm -

    @ Moanique

I agree with you about the Hamster Wheel. Those naughty bits would be censored here. I guess that’s why they rated it the way they did and had those warnings. I also liked the cats again. :)

  62. MuchoTB October 13, 2011 at 1:43 pm -

Hawaii Five-O outrated Prime Suspect and Law and Order:LA. Almost beat CSI as well.

Hamster Wheel and Gruen Planet left them all in the dust

  63. Smith October 13, 2011 at 11:54 am -

I’m glad you are satisfied JB because the problem with these shows that operate in a bubble then step out into the “real” world is that reality bites hard. If these were “real” world projects they would have been an absolute disaster economically. Still maintain the real winner on the night was Suzanne’s dress which rated through my roof!!!

  64. MJR October 13, 2011 at 11:03 am -

Great to Renovators get the numbers that it should.
All on program worked very hard and michael was a great winner.
Hope he shares some cash to Nathan that helped so much to the end.
Ten bring it back with some slight changes.

  65. David Knox October 13, 2011 at 11:03 am -

Yes I was advised that there were errors with the data that was originally sent to me. Now corrected.

  66. Moanique in Brisbane October 13, 2011 at 11:02 am -

Loved Hamster Wheel last night, so funny, and naughty

  67. John from Sunny Coast October 13, 2011 at 10:43 am -

According to last nights ratings figures, the Renovators Auction was shown on ABC1. I don’t think so! The ABC do have standards you know.

  68. steve sydney October 13, 2011 at 10:42 am -

@Smith – Suzanne is gorgeous and so were Mel’s sisters??… I’m guessing sisters..

But yea a pretty poor finale although the best line of the night was Mel in describing the Half Done House

“I could see a gay couple living here, or a glamorous person, it’s just so immaculate” LOL !!

  69. Craig October 13, 2011 at 10:34 am -

The numbers for CSI and PS last night were awful and Nine came 3rd for the night, will Nine be making some changes today to it’s mid week line up?

Good on Renovators for winning, I never watched it much but hope it returns, maybe TEN will learn for it’s mistakes and bring it back in a different format next year?

  70. steve sydney October 13, 2011 at 10:14 am -

    “3 The Renovators – Auction Night ABC1 1,122,000 319,000 345,000 226,000 103,000 128,000″

Didn’t know ABC was airing the Renovators last night David haha!

  71. Billybob October 13, 2011 at 9:58 am -

Thanks for including Gangs of Oz numbers.

  72. JB October 13, 2011 at 9:54 am -

1.2 million, #1 for the night. 1.1million for the auctions, Ten will probably take that. Shows there’s an audience, but will they stick with it next year?
@Smith, yes it was a good final. All houses sold, all sold above their bought price, half made profit. I felt satisfied with that.

  73. col October 13, 2011 at 9:39 am -

Bad figures for CSI , i know its been on the downhill for a while but Ted Danson just doesnt cut it.Time to pull the plug.

  74. Smith October 13, 2011 at 8:42 am -

@ jb – a great final? Take in losses on 3 properties that sold for less than profit point and real profit was just over 20k and this still does not account for all the prize packages they poured into the houses on top of their budgets. “Live” auction a farce when it was filmed over 3 nights 2 weeks ago. “Nice young man” who bought the fibro was umming and ahhing at 360k and ends up paying 440k. Anyone smell a possible plant? Well done to Michael and the camera man for getting Suzanne’s chest in as many shots as possible.

  75. Schrödinger October 13, 2011 at 1:28 am -

@Allie, @NJK, @Benny Incorrect, “Joy of Sets” hasn’t been axed. It was only ever scheduled for eight episodes, and the eighth and final one was filmed last week. Four have been screened, and the fifth is currently scheduled for the same time next week. It may not be picked up for a second season (don’t know that that’s been confirmed, or if that was ever intended), but it’s not right to say it’s been axed. Good thing too as it remains one of the only things worth switching over to commercial TV for.

  76. Moanique in Brisbane October 13, 2011 at 1:06 am -

I thought the Renovators finale was done well. It was great to see Michael’s auction result wipe that smug smile from Luke’s face. Apart from location, the Fibro cottage was very appealing to me.

  77. JB October 12, 2011 at 11:10 pm -

Interested in the results for tonights Renovators finale. Was a great final. Ratings could decide whether or not Ten bring it back next year. Under a million and Ten will axe it, i’ll predict just over 1 million. If the crap that is the Block can get over 3 million then no reason why Renovators can’t get at least 1.2m. It definitely is far better than the Block. Hosts, contestants, properties are all better, just needs a tweak in format. Was hoping for Luke to win, but very happy for a South Aussie in Michael to win.

    @ TVluva & AAAdelaide

    Thank you.

    @ Kiyoshi

Thanks very much for those numbers. Also for the reassurance. I will say they are going up around 10,000 each week on what I’ve seen although I don’t expect it always to be the case. But I’m glad. I really do hope Eleven keeps Smallville on a weekday and Monday is fine for the final season. I do like the pairing too.

Hint for anyone: I know having a letter is a problem with determining sex but I’m a woman for the record; I don’t expect everyone to remember it. But if some do it’ll be less confusing with the pronouns. :)

A is well within his rights to request those figures. That what this site is for! People don’t come on this site to look at porn, pay a bill ,or check their email.. they are here to look at ratings and the system. If you don’t like the question, then move on and get over it. It’s people like you who would make A feel uncomfortable about asking what is ..a simple question.
