FOX Footy has announced Dermott Brereton and Anthony Hudson will join its AFL commentary team in 2012.
They both join previously announced Eddie McGuire and existing experts as part of its line-up under a new broadcast deal, to be produced by FOX Sports.
Icon of the game and leading football media identity Dermott Brereton is still regarded as one of the best centre half-forwards of all time and is a five day and five night premiership superstar. Dermott’s playing career saw him play over 200 games mostly for Hawthorn, later playing at Collingwood and Sydney, and kicking 464 goals in total over his professional career. Dermott was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
Anthony Hudson is one of Australia’s leading AFL and sports commentators. In a career that has spanned almost twenty years he has called the past 13 Grand Finals including the most recent. His calls are always passionate and well informed, providing an accurate and entertaining account of the on-field action.
Dermott Brereton said, “I am excited to be part of the FOX Footy commentary team next year. The team boasts such an amazing list of talent who I look forward to joining in the commentary box for the start of a big 2012 season on FOX Footy .”
Anthony Hudson said, “I’m thrilled to be part of the new FOX Footy channel to help bring AFL fans every match live. I remember the excitement when the original FOX Footy was created and cannot wait to be part of the new era at FOX Footy next year. Chief Executive Officer of FOX Sports (who will produce FOX Footy ), Patrick Delany said, “With Dermott and Anthony joining FOX Footy we will have the best commentary team ever assembled leading the FOX Footy coverage in 2012. Their experience and passion for the game, alongside our current champion list, will ensure that FOX Footy provides the most comprehensive and entertaining coverage of the game the way fans want to see it, Live and uninterrupted siren to siren.”
Brereton and Hudson will join Eddie McGuire, Jason Dunstall, Gerard Healy, Brad Johnson, Dwayne Russell, Tony Shaw, Liam Pickering, David King, Danny Frawley, along with a depth of talent that extends beyond the borders to include all-time greats of the game Paul Roos, Alastair Lynch, Mark Ricciuto, and Glen Jakovich.

And you can also add Luke Darcy to the seven team.
Love Huddo, best in the business. He will do a great job keepibng the egos of Eddie and Dermott in check.
seems like its a kinda back door way of getting 9 personalities to call some footy… good i suppose…i have no objection to either Eddie or dermot…and Huddo was from TEn wasnt he???
Huddo was great on the draft tonight. Looking forward to the footy.
huddo will be great. best caller in the game by some way. dermie, he loves the sound of his own voice
@J Shaw
Eddie will not be commentating Collingwood games. Fox Footy have made that clear to the media.
I think Sevens footy commentators are good – Leigh Matthews, McAvaney, Cometti, Malthouse, Brian Taylor (BT), Hamish McLachlan. Fox Footy has Bereton, McGuire, Anthony Hudson, Dunstall, Healy, Dwayne Russell, Tony Shaw & Danny Frawley.
I hope Eddie does not commentate Collingwood games
Ah the TV Tonight arm-chair critics out in full force…
First Eddie, now Dermott. Are Fox trying to send their viewers over to Seven?
Was this supposed to be a surprise? Like a week ago on FSN they promoted their AFL draft coverage with “Hosted by Anthony Hudson” on screen.
Just please keep them away from the real football. Andy Maher has already ruined Fox Sports FC.
big tick to Foxtel for Dermott, little tick Huddo… and then there’s Eddie.
As a Pies fan I could do with a ‘less is more’ approach from Ed. Love his work at club level but can do without the arrogant ‘tude, pulsating ego & matching head.
After the 2012 Olympics race is run, I’ll be hoping there’s a softly spoken, highly professional / less emotional premiership lying just around the corner… a bit like that other mob did this year.
Can’t wait ’till the start of the footy season as cricket is boring to watch in summer!
“every game of every round of the home and away season Live including the Finals series*, in High Definition and Standard Definition, uninterrupted siren to siren.” every game except for the 4 channel 7 games each week that won’t be in HD
So what does the asterisk after Finals series mean? All except the ultimate match I guess?
So does that mean Huddo’s gone fron Ten? Or contracted to both like Eddie is with Nine and Fox?
Nooooooooooo…..not Dermott.Yuck !!!
