Happy World Television Day

Today is World Television Day as declared in 1996 by the United Nations General Assembly.

I should have taken the day off.

Today is World Television Day as declared in 1996 by the United Nations General Assembly.

This was done in recognition of “the increasing impact television has on decision-making by alerting world attention to conflicts and threats to peace and security and its potential role in sharpening the focus on other major issues, including economic and social issues.”

And here I was thinking it was because Kyle and Jackie O are on tonight.

  1. World (switch it off) TV Day.

“given that it provides unbiased information on important issues and events affecting our daily activities” – you mean like on “FOX News”. (That being a brand name, not a description of what they do).

  2. I hope that on WTV Day,National and International organs, all over the globe , will reinforce committment in supporting the development of the television media, given that it provides unbiased information on important issues and events affecting our daily activities. Think it,Work for it and Achieve it on World Television Day,Happy Viewing on a Happy World TV Day.

  3. Not a very impressive line up for WTVD I must say. (I doubt the UN were thinking of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ when they named this day!)

At least The Simpsons are on tonight, but only because they’re on *every* night! Probably give ‘The Hour’ a watch, and there’s always ‘All New The Mentalist’ I guess…
