This week Yahoo!7 launched a new app for iPhone and iPad in Australia, Fango.
Fango allows users to check-in to Seven shows and let their friends know what they are watching, plus chat, trivia, polls and more.
Viewers can customise their Fango experience based on each TV show, including what other people are saying on Twitter and Facebook while a show is on air. It also includes trending hashtags and Facebook posts.
“Fango is the social way to watch TV. It will provide a real-time social forum for fans to connect with each other around their favourite programmes and live media events. They won’t just be watching, they will have the opportunity to participate in real time,” said Kath Hamilton, Director of Operations, Yahoo!7.
Featured shows include Home and Away, Beauty and the Geek, The Amazing Race, Bones, The One and Sunrise but from February 2012 it promises to all free-to-air primetime programmes as well as major sporting events.

They make this, before even updating their site to work on iPad without flash for catchup tv, or releasing a catchup tv app? Poor priorities.
“Fango” means “mud” in Italian…! Weird choice of name….
Theres a few glitches atm. Need to improve it before i even consider using it.
