Rowena Wallace joins ELEVEN comedy project

Rowena Wallace has joined the cast of a new comedy project that will screen online and on ELEVEN.

Rowena Wallace has joined the cast of Micro Nation, the new comedy project produced by Freehand that will screen online and on ELEVEN.

It’s good news for the Gold Logie winner who in recent years has attracted headlines for the wrong reasons, largely due to a lack of work opportunities.

The irreverent new comedy with head writer Andrew Garrick (The Nurses) will air as 15 x 5 minute interstitials online plus a 1 x 62min progamme on ELEVEN.

Micro Nation is described as “the tale of Pullamawang, a forgotten island nation lying off the Australian coast. Home to a cast of larger-than-life characters, their absurd but comfortable lives are thrown into disarray with the discovery of diamonds.”

The ensemble cast also includes Lliam Amor, Kit Brookman, David Collins, Dan Cordeaux, Rebecca De Unamuno, Harriet Dyer, Roz Hammond, John Leary, James Mackay, and Jon Williams.

TEN chief programming officer, David Mott, said: “Micro Nation is yet another step towards developing new opportunities in digital television for the network, and for Australia’s commercial television landscape. We’re excited to bring such a funny and original Australian project to the ELEVEN audience.”

Producer, Linda Ujuk, added: “Micro Nation is a smart and completely absurd comedy that cleverly reflects current Australia and how it finds its place in the world. We’re extremely proud to be collaborating with Boomball, a team of six up-and-coming writers with backgrounds in stand up and sketch comedy, who have created some serious funny.”

Filming began on the Central Coast yesterday and continues for the next two weeks in New South Wales.

  1. Rowena is very funny and the consummate professional and the show is absurdly hilarious. I’ve never heard a director or crew laugh so much while working so hard shooting. I hope Australia enjoys it as much.

  2. Yes poor Today Tonight..

no more stories on how Rowena is broke and eating cat food. Wish you all the best Rowena. Hope this is the start of a come back..

  3. I’d love to see Sons and Daughters make a comeback. They could have Rowena as the matriac. Peter Phelps and Ally Fowler with sons and daughters of their own, and Judy Nunn back as Irene, taking over from the late Pat MacDonald. I know, they’re not making any new soaps, but this one could really work.

  4. But, what will Today Tonight do now?! They were about due for another rehash of their story surrounding Row. 😉

Jokes aside; it’s good news for her, and am glad she will be back on the TV screens outside of TT. 😛

  5. Rowena is a wonderful actress and it’s great to see her working again. Yesterday I Saw her last appearance as Pat The Rat – Patricia on Sons And Daughters, which brought many memories
