SBS today will screen Eurovision Song Contest Junior 2011, which was held earlier this month in Yerevan, Armenia.
13 countries competed in the contest: Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, and Ukraine.
Acts for Junior EV must be between 10 and 15 years old, but the songs can be written by adults.
Unlike the “adult” version, a country doesn’t have to be in the European Union -nor even in Europe. Maybe we can send a YTT act next year?
This is the ninth year the event has been held.
1pm Monday on SBS ONE.

A nice touch having an Australian “correspondent” presenting douze points to all acts. Eurovision loves to give a shout out to Australia – they must be just amazed that their contests (both adult and junior) rate a mention and have a fan base here.
“Unlike the “adult” version, a country doesn’t have to be in the European Union -nor even in Europe.” – Both contests require the country to be a member of the EBU though, not the EU or even Europe. It formally used the European Broadcasting Area, however Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia participate but are outside this area.
Crap, I missed this because of the late announcement.
I know it is your off time, David, but I just wish I had known about it earlier. It would be good if they replayed it, I don’t suppose so, but do you think they would?
Will probably be replayed in the lead-up to EV 2012.
