Big Brother back to Dreamworld

Staff facilities have begun being reassembled in readiness for work on Big Brother 2012.

Premier Anna Bligh (herself a one-time Reality TV contestant) will be happy to hear that Big Brother is returning to Dreamworld.

News that staff facilities had begun being reassembled was leaked by Peter Ford via Twitter -his second scoop tweet in as many days.

The Reality series was staged at the Gold Coast site for its entire run on TEN, proving a successful mix of production and live eviction facilities. Its locale also ensured housemates were prone to wearing less and showing off their bods in the Queensland sun.

Bligh has been pushing for the show’s return, last year telling media: “If Big Brother‘s return is a serious prospect, my Government will be doing everything we can to bring the program back home to the Gold Coast.”

The Dreamworld location will rule out other sites tipped to be in contention: Movie World, FOX Studios and Luna Park.

It’s yet to be confirmed if the former House will be reconstructed, given the compound site has been under consideration as part of a Coomera Town Centre development. The $400 million Westfield project, to be built adjacent to the nearby railway station, has seen many delays. On the weekend the Gold Coast Bulletin reported a start date “was still some time away.”

In 2008 Dreamworld made the original Big Brother House available for rent for themed party nights. Including the Big Brother character voice and a security guard to evict guests, it came at a cool $2200 a day.

Big Brother: Secrets, to be hosted by Sonia Kruger, will air on Nine in August following the Olympics.

Auditions have not yet been announced but start getting your “secret” ready if you plan on fronting up.

  1. I hope it changes from before men were over exposed and women who don’t want to be natural should not enter. 10x male versus female nudity makes me switch off.

I think you miss undetstood… Big brother is virtually comming this year right on the last days of the london olympic games.. In fact it will be for the first time in australia that big brother show will be set late in the year rather then early mid age sort of to speak.

Thanks david for letting this comment.

  3. Good to see the show return to Dream world they can also use the old blue lagoon area to rebuild the new Big Brother House for 2013 that will be so cool to see that there

  4. I went to Dreamworld last year, and I am pretty sure the old BB house had been turned into an animal enclosure area. At least that’s what it looked like…

  5. The house is ready, the host is chosen, now comes the difficult part. To find suitable bogan participants.

No doubt the show’s producers are scouring the western suburbs of various capital cities at this current moment.

  6. Talking about BB returning. It sure feels like it was more then 3 or way more years since the last big brother was on air. Feels like more then 5 years since last big brother was televise. But wasn’t that long but it feels like it.

BB won’t just change one place to another. Its hard work then means staffs and such has to also re-locate and its just messy.. So they will continue to just do it at the same spot. But of course has nothing to do with channel ten.
The house will be from scratch obviously. The house isn’t a million dollar luxury. When me and my wife (juanet) went there it sure did not look anything big and the house looked like a typical cheap ends meet made seriously.

However all comes to the magic of making things look luxury and sparkle and big on television. The cameras do the magic view for you of course.
The guy who used to do the BB friday night game shows (host) mike goldman will also return but on channel 9 for the show. He wont be the presenter but he will be doing voice overs and other games for the BB show. Thanks david.

  7. @marius j – im devoutly watching the daily show. Twins and frankie were the stars of day 3! I LOLed when karissa called frankie Justin bieber. Andrew needs to go! and we’ve seen zilch of giggs!

  8. @Snapper Jack How exactly does your comment make sense? You may still think it should be filmed at Luna Park, which makes zero sense as there would be highrises looming over the backyard pool, and the outside world is very loud in Sydney Harbour. And when the decision is already made, do you suggest someone contacts Sonia and says “Sorry! Snapper decided we’re bringing back Gretal, so you’re fired.”?

    Just curious.

  9. he must have taken it down, theres nothing about big brother on his twitter at all…

i personally hope it isnt at the gold coast, i think they need to distance themselves from the channel 10 version, hosting it in a different place in a completely different house will contribute greatly to that

  10. yeah channel 5 is doing good this year with celebrity BB i wonder when the normal version will start

as for our BB i dont care where the house is because i am just so glad that it is coming back but it will be intresting to see if they can salvage the old house or if they will need to flatten it and rebuild
