Kerri-Anne Kennerley is set for more projects with Seven, in addition to being a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.
An experienced trouper like Kennerley knows the significance of leaving the Nine stable and would always be looking beyond the three-month deal of the dance show.
Peter Ford, who first revealed the Kennerley switch on Twitter, added, “Her role at 7 is more than just DWTS.”
Nine spokesperson David Hurley could not confirm her exit, saying the network had heard nothing formal. Kennerley is understood to have made the decision while holidaying in Africa.
“It’s likely right (though plainly a competitor’s gig on Dancing ain’t a career ), and if so of course everyone at Nine would wish her well ….she’s well liked and highly regarded and it would be churlish in the extreme to do otherwise,” he told TV Tonight.
Seven insiders also confirmed to TV Tonight that Kennerley had indeed been on their wish list for Dancing.
Meanwhile, her replacement, Sonia Kruger tells the Sunday Telegraph, “I’ve always been an admirer of KAK. She has owned the slot and been an inspiration to a lot of women across the board.
“I definitely have enormous shoes to fill.”

I think KAK should stay where she is. Channel 7 must be desperate.
Alternative plan. She goes to co-hosting with Larry
Kylie moves to Cohosting Sunrise…. She actually been doing that over the summer
Prediction the replacement of Mel
The reality is that the last 12 months KAK has not been happy with the direction of the show so a move to Seven will be a godsend. Looks like Nine are going to copy Seven again by copying The Mornig Show, just like they have with Sunrise. Don’t they have anyone at Nine with any new creative ideas. They should rebrand themselves- Nine, steal the one.
To be fair, Sonia may not be KAK by any stretch, but KAK is going to be looked after and her and Sonia are friends too, they wish each other well. Mornings may yet still last and Big Brother will do well, so both personalities bring something to the table.
Yep. Jonno & Number1 are completely correct. Looks likes KAK will win out in the end.
I agree with Pedro – KAK was with Network Ten’s Good Morning Australia from 1982 to 1991. Amazing how that long-running gig was overlooked by the media reports yesterday. In the early years with Ten, she was Kerri-anne Wright prior to marrying.
Love the great reporting yesterday that had KAK working for nine for 40 years. Do they not recall her time at 10?
Maybe KAK should let Nine know of her exit by letting them read it in the paper…
what goes around comes around..
The Circle is better than both shows
Plus, I hope what 9 did to KAK, big brother flops and Sonia destroys her career at 9. And by all reports this could really backfire for Sonia if the shows doesn’t work. You dont go wasting KAK she done more live tv and interviews then anyone else in this country. When KAK was her age, she notched up 25 years already in TV. Sonia will not last the distance at Nine , like many others before her. Thats’ just my opinion.
I think what brings 7 down is there after Midday shows. How good would it be if seven and Kennerley can do something together in day time lunch or maybe with Molly out of action for a while, she could be the entertainment reporter. ???
I predict a big flop with mornings. Larry and Kylie are so much more likeable than Sonia “the Clown” Kruger and David “the loud-mouth” Cambell.
Yer, Ever since The Morning Show was created it has owned the timeslot.
Settle down Sonia. The Morning Show has owned that slot for a few years now.
