New set for A Current Affair

A Current Affair has unveiled a shiny new set, including a studio couch.

A Current Affair tonight unveiled a shiny new set, brimming in reds and blues.

Opening with new credits, but an unchanged theme, the new-look set partners well with the contemporary look of the Nine News set.

Included in the set is a studio couch, which tonight enabled Tom Steinfort to chat with host Tracey Grimshaw about his first report – a story on overseas Call Centres.

Now that Grimshaw has relocated to Sydney from Melbourne, ACA will be able to incorporate more  post-story interviews with reporters, which should be a nifty point of difference to its biggest rival.

However the “Exclusive” watermark which has also been updated looks too solid and distracting.

ACA also had a scoop interview with Bert Newton who had undergone a medical procedure at Raffles  Private Hospital in Singapore, following an issue with breathing and a stent he has.

“That stent that I had needed a little bit of help. It wasn’t flowing freely,” he said.

Newton has had a week off from performing in the stage musical Wicked.

  1. looks good but not good with that long bench seat… looks like a hospital waiting area for parenting after the wife has a new baby. Plus… i dont preciate the new logo in the background.. it reminds me the typical (sky news symbolism) the white and red with the sqaure trimatical lines… I however liked the old symbol.. just ACA rather then showing a giant patch that looks like a tv news channel.

Never the less i watch channel 9 and watch ACA all the times.. But i do wish ray martin came back to do the show. Unless he does during christmas seasons specials.

  2. It looks like you’re watching Seven again. These are the colours used by Seven News. The slant is something you would associate with the Seven ribbon logo and is closer to what Seven were using in their graphics more than three years ago.

  3. Dress it up all they want it’s still a turd.
And they got a “scoop” interview with Bert because no one else thought a cold was exclusive news worth reporting.

  4. Love the new set and graphics. Can’t remember the last time I was happy about a set or graphics change. Not even Today’s and Nine News’ change recently wowed me as much.
