Q & A: Feb 6

Tony Jones is back with Q&A next Monday, but we'll "take that as a comment."

Q&A returns on Monday night with more lively debates.

But we’ll “take that as a comment.”

Host Tony Jones will be joined by:

Finance Minister, Penny Wong
Shadow Treasurer, Joe Hockey
Economist, Judith Sloan
Director of Centre for Policy Development, Miriam Lyons
News Ltd Columnist, Joe Hildebrand

Though summer is almost over, Australian politics is already back on the boil and Q&A is back.

“Q&A gives Australian citizens the chance to ask the questions”, says Q&A Executive Producer Peter McEvoy. “Since the program started in 2008 the Q&A audience has increased every year as we’ve found new ways to involve Australians in politics. You can never predict what each edition of Q&A will deliver and in 2012 we’ll be exploring new ways to engage the audience in Australia’s vital debates.”

ABC News 24 and ABC News radio will continue to simulcast the program live so that Australians everywhere can join the Q&A conversation live. The program is also streamed live at abc.net.au/qanda.

‘Australia Network’ will also continue to broadcast Q&A into Southeast Asia and the Pacific every Monday night.

Members of the public can get involved in Q&A in a variety of ways:

· Go to abc.net.au/qanda to register to be part of future live Q&A studio audiences;
· The website is also the place to go to submit questions;
· Viewers can also contribute to the discussion via Q&A’s Twitter highlight’s feed, using #qanda;
· And follow @abcqanda on Twitter to receive first-hand updates about the program and panel members.

9:35pm AEDT Monday February 6 on ABC1 and ABC News 24.

  1. I’ll take that as a question”.
    Do we like this show anymore?
    Yes. If Rudd, Carbon, Boats and Julia don’t get spoken about.
    No. If the same old suspects have their opinion on the above listed.

  2. I too am appalled that Joe Hildebrand is back on this show, why Anyone gives that man airtime is beyond me. It disturbs me even more that often his tweets are given preference to anyone else, even though they are usually smart-a*sey and not funny at all.

    Can we see real politicians and advocates on this show, please? And no mention of the carbon tax, refugees and Julia’s dress sense!

  3. I agree with some of the sentiment here. QANDA really is talkback radio with pictures – and talkback radio neither contributes to the quality of public debate, nor fixes any of the country’s problems.

  4. @ IronicReference, “I know exactly what each of their opinions will be”

    That’s what’s wrong with this program. It doesn’t make viewers more informed, it’s just people spewing the same stuff we’ve heard before.

  5. They need to get some different people on the panel. I know exactly what each of their opinions will be. They are boring and usually annoying. Joe Hildebrand is particularly repugnant. I don’t care he works for News but I do care that he is a horrible person. I’m worried that anyone would laugh at anything he says.
