Revenge tops Timeshifted viewing

Revenge becomes the most-watched programme on recorded viewing since the introduction of time-shifted viewing.

The good news continues for Revenge which has now become the most-watched programme on recorded viewing since the introduction of time-shifted viewing.

OzTAM’s time-shifted viewing calculates the number of people who watch a show they have recorded up to 7 days after it first broadcast.

Trends indicate these numbers favour scripted drama, including those which have late-night start-times.

Revenge pulled an extra 311,966 viewers, taking the weekly national for the first episode at 2.37m

TEN’s Homeland came a close second with another 308,573 viewers for Sunday 11th February. Its total now stands at 1.12m.

Alcatraz on Nine picked up an extra 279,341 viewers, totalling 1.37m.

  1. @ Southpatt – google OzTam and visit their web site – all info there.

The high timeshift figures are a result of having so many shows worth watching airing at the same time on some nights, while having nothing on other nights.

  2. @Craig – I still use a VCR as well as a twin tuner PVR, it gives me another option if there are 4 shows on at the same time that I want to see (notably on Mondays and Thursdays). I also use the online catch-up sites, I’m sure they must have some kind of counter system so they can see how many people are watching a certain show.

  3. @Jake – tape? – time to update to a digital PVR I think LOL

I record most FTA shows I watch, which isn’t many right now to watch them without ads later.

Surprised that all 3 of those shows had around the same number of time-shifted views, wonder if that says something about the viewing public?

  4. David – presumably these figures pertain to the original screening time-slot only. I assume that any repeats/encores played by a network are coded as such and appear separately? Apologies if this is a stupid question – just want to understand it more. Thanks.
