Sandilands calls in sick for Australia’s Got Talent

Kyle is a no-show at Melbourne auditions for Australia's Got Talent, leading to media speculation.

Producers on Australia’s Got Talent were forced to call in Todd McKenney as a last-minute replacement for Kyle Sandilands at Melbourne auditions yesterday.

Sandilands had called in sick for the two days of weekend auditions and is breakfast radio show late last week.

The Herald Sun reports Seven may even be considering his future on the talent show.

Seven’s head of production, Brad Lyons, said: “Kyle’s management advised us that he was too unwell to attend work yesterday. We are monitoring the situation closely.”

Sandilands has previously been unwell enough to front on occasions during other seasons of Australia’s Got Talent, The X Factor and Big Brother, as well as his Austereo radio show.

The illness follows controversy over comments directed at a News Limited journalist and the loss of major sponsors. Other reports speculate about bouts of depression, but these are unconfirmed.

A Seven spokeswoman said Sandilands was in “the care of his GP” and expected that he would be back on deck for the Perth auditions next week.

“He has told us he is sick and there’s no reason to doubt that.”

  1. AGT and Seven are doing major damage to their brand by continuing to support Sandilands in the wake of his continuing misogynistic and derogatory outbursts against women. They need to cut him loose now!

  2. Come on … there must be someone else out there willing to get paid the millions he’s currently getting and able to turn up for work. What a joke!!
