US actor Daniel von Bargen, who played Mr. Kruger on Seinfeld, is in a critical condition after surviving a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
TMZ reports Von Bargen dialed 911 and told the operator, “I’ve shot myself in the head… and I need help.
“I shot in my temple,” he said.
The gunshot to the temple was not an accident. Von Bargen, who is a diabetic, recently learned some bad news. “I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn’t want to. So I shot myself… They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes.”
He was transported to a Cincinnati hospital.
Von Bargen also appeared as Commandant Edwin Spangler on Malcolm in the Middle, Chief Grady in Super Troopers and in Law & Order and London Betty, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and The Faculty.

I always remember his character Nilsen taunting Michael Douglas’ Nick Curran in Basic Instinct. Hope he recovers and finds a reason to live.
He shot himself over losing a few toes? Truly hope he recovers well.
Such a shame.Hopefully he can recover.
He was good in Seinfeld and very good in Malcolm as Commandant Spangler.
