Seven takes the trophy, but Nine nabs Sydney.

Seven has won the penultimate week of summer ratings, but Nine fell over the line for a win in Sydney.

The adjusted figure for the Australian Open Men’s final between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal was 2.04m viewers, the top show of Week 5.

Seven won the penultimate week of summer ratings with 31.8% over Nine 28.1%, TEN 20.3%, ABC 14.5% and SBS 5.3%. Seven ranked first in all cities except Sydney, which fell to Nine.

In Primary Channels Seven was 25.3%, Nine 21.5%, TEN 14.3%, ABC1 10.5% and SBS ONE 4.4%.

ELEVEN topped multichannels last week with 3.6%, then 7TWO and GO! (both 3.5%), 7mate and GEM (both 3.0%), ONE and ABC2 (both 2.4%), SBS TWO 1.0%, ABC News 24 0.9%, ABC3 0.7%.

My Kitchen Rules nabbed 4 of the top 6 spots, as high as 1.5m viewers.

Best for Nine was Twenty20 Cricket, with two matches over 1.4m.

TEN’s strongest performer was New Girl on 1.29m.

In the weight-loss battle the launch for Excess Baggage (885,000) outdid the best by The Biggest Loser  (757,000). In the breakfast tussle Sunrise (370,000) topped Today (346,000).

ABC News (936,000) was best for ABC1 and Coast was 325,000 on SBS ONE.

Key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 were won by Seven.

Seven topped Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with Nine winning Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Official ratings begin next Sunday, February 12th.

  1. ELEVEN is probably my most watched digital channel, followed but GEM but only because of the Friends re-run (yes people still watch the show) But over all I haven’t watched much FTA of late and apart from BBC Knowledge, SkyNews and the occasional movie I haven’t been watching much of PayTV either but still more than FTA.

  2. Well done to 11 to win in multi channels. Ten will be pleased. Nine did well to win Sydney where they regularly win in the 6pm news hour. The rugby pulled them over the line and it will probably encourage Nine to bid for Saturday NRL games. It not like 9 have much else on Saturdays besides news and AFHV. NRL should have some Sautday and Monday matches played on FTA. Hope Gem does well with the India vs Sri Lanka cricket matches. Nine should use Gem for NRL especially for AFL states and olympics. Nine cannot rely on sport to win. The only days they won were days with sport.

Ten also did well on Sunday and hopefully will continue without tennis on. Would be nice to see some nightly wins for Ten. Tuesdays will improve with new NCIS. Ten also had a decent Saturday with over 600k for Graham Norton. Thats a great sign. They need to improve One. Nice to see Ten News at Six in top top 20 on Saturday.

If the tennis wasnt on last Sunday, Seven may not have won the week. They will not win a Sunday or Friday while cricket is on. If Nine remove Excess Baggage and replace it with something better, it will become a more interesting battle. I don’t think Rafters will be as big this year but will still rate well.

  3. Good win for Seven. They had My Kitchen Rules, The Mens Final and Please Marry My Boy to thank this week. Nine had 2 cricket matches and an All Stars rugby league match and still lost. I think Seven will be ahead for much of this year. I can’t see much changing with Seven only going to strengthen their lineup over the next couple of weeks. I can’t believe Sydney fell to Nine. I guess the League got them over the line.

  4. Does this point out ELEVEN’s strength or the weakest of it’s competitors for this week?

The margin between Sunrise and Today is getting smaller and smaller
