Sports Fever! fans are now about to get the show earlier, as well as Live in some states.
From Monday it will be broadcast Live on 7mate from 8.30pm AEDT.
It will also be replayed later that night on Seven.
Seven’s Director of Programming, Angus Ross, said: “Sports Fever is a very funny show and at 830PM on 7Mate viewers can now enjoy it in primetime. We are committed to taking the program to the widest possible audience across both channels.
“This is a great outcome and it shows what we can do in a multi-channel environment.”
The move is designed to bring the show to a wider audience. Despite good word of mouth, on Monday it pulled just 188,00 viewers and next month it will be against Footy Classified on Nine.
Executive Producer from Working Dog, Michael Hirsh, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to go primetime. We applaud Tim Worner and Angus Ross for allowing us to seize the opportunity of a new frontier on digital TV! We can now produce an original comedy program to broadcast live at a time when people can watch.”
Ed Kavalee added, “It may end up costing a bit more to broadcast, as the Network have been taking advantage of off-peak electricity rates, but at least we’ll be saving on coffee.”
Santo, Sam and Ed’s Sports Fever! dissects global sports news and events in a LIVE hour-long program filmed at Seven’s Docklands studios each week. It consists of well-informed discussion, ill-informed analysis, pre-recorded clips, guest interviews, shonky impersonations, surprise cameos and live sketches. In short, it’s a left-field review of all the weekly sports actions, with a focus on the latest weekend results, hosted by Santo Cilauro, Sam Pang and Ed Kavalee.

Why not 9.30pm – when Revenge is over. At least give it a chance! Or move it to another night??
The fact it’s on at 8:30 now as well is great, but will be sticking with the 10:30 timeslot as I am really getting into Revenge!
Can’t wait!!
Thanks for the response David… much appreciated. Was excited to see the return of ‘On the Couch’ Monday night, and will be even more excited when ‘Footy Classified’ returns. Yep, I love my AFL.
Yes great show, will catch the earlier edition.
It was great to see Rob Sitch make his first appearance on the show on Monday. This weeks episode was easily the funniest so far. Look forward to seeing it at an earlier time.
“good wood of mouth” lol. Who’s been giving Sports Fever good wood?
8.30 on 7mate is awesome for me as i watch Footy Classified. Although it means nothing if Seven continue to run MKR overtime. I know programs running overtime is a tactic to stop people flicking to other networks, but with multi channels now, are networks willing to jeopardise shows on their multichannels?
David re: ‘Footy Confidential’. Was that meant to read Footy Classified? If it was, do you have a date for when it is returning on Nine in March. Thanks in anticipation 🙂
I am struggling to ‘get into’ Sports Fever. It is not grabbing my attention.
Ah yes Classified…. show was originally called Confidential but they changed it at the last minute and it’s still embedded in my brain. No return date yet.
This will very quickly get buried! I thought Ed would have been smarter after “TV Burp”.
Goneski!
thanks for posting this article.
I hope it rates well enough to stay in both timeslots / channels. The World Game on SBS has done the same sort of thing for the last year (SBS2 live before replaying it delyaed on SBS1), so this could work. I love Sports Fever. Nice little gem.
It will have some tough competition on at that time, but at least Seven are trying something different rather than dumping it.
Great news. This show is awesome. I’ll still be watching the late version so that I can still watch Revenge but great to see it in primetime.
