    @David

You are right but it’s a lot slicker and there are definite differences.

  2. Allie February 1, 2012 at 5:47 pm -

@David Knox, yes, definite similarities to CDWM, but MKR is a heaps slicker production and it has the presence of the two celebrity chef judges at the dinners. It is much more like CDWM than MC, I would agree with that.

  3. David Knox February 1, 2012 at 5:22 pm -

Guy: Isn’t MKR a copy of Come Dine with Me?

  4. Guy February 1, 2012 at 5:13 pm -

    @Cameron

Please Marry My Boy is moving to Tuesdays 9:30pm after next week and Revenge will take the 8:30pm timeslot. Now I just want to know where Once Upon a Time is going

  5. Guy February 1, 2012 at 5:08 pm -

This is what happens when you copy an existing show. None have no one but themselves to blame. It will be gone within the next week and replaced with either 2 1/2 men or big bang repeats

Good to see MKR do well too.

  6. D@GP February 1, 2012 at 5:01 pm -

Fans of Harry’s Law, take note – it’s back in 9’s Monday night schedule – at 11.30pm!

  7. Ryan February 1, 2012 at 3:27 pm -

It will be interesting to see how Ten tweaks Mc after last seasons low figures.

  8. Natasha February 1, 2012 at 3:22 pm -

It’s pretty obvious that MKR is going to be dominating the next few weeks.

  9. MuchoTB February 1, 2012 at 2:33 pm -

Funny how an NCIS repeat does 200k more than fresh episodes of NCIS:LA and Hawaii Five-0

good to see Excess Baggage flop, hopefully it stays around those figures before Nein axes it. Unfortunately they’d only replace it with more turds like The Block, Celebrity Apprentice or BBT repeats, so it really doesn’t matter what they air there

  10. steve sydney February 1, 2012 at 1:39 pm -

Well I tried but I can’t get into the MKR format. I still prefer the set up of MC with the contestants being thrown right out of their comfort zones.

As long as the mystery box challenge comes back and the group challenges go back to being more fine dinning rather than catering style, I’ll be happy to stick with MC

  11. ompman February 1, 2012 at 1:32 pm -

oh nine your the biggest loser

  12. JB February 1, 2012 at 1:12 pm -

Agree about MKR v Masterchef. I won’t be watching Masterchef anymore after last season. Masterchef is all about the judges, used to like George & Gary but now can’t stand them. Sick of the sob stories from contestants, we don’t get to see all the food, and the last straw was the Dalai Lama. Turned Masterchef into a massive wankfest.
MKR however we actually get to see all the food, the contestants are enjoyable. Be interesting to see how Masterchef fairs this year cos i think they did a lot of damage and ruined the show.

  13. NJK February 1, 2012 at 12:20 pm -

And the other good thing about MKR, compared to MC, is its more subtle use of music. MKR basically punches you in the head with its score – the dramatic music when someone drops an egg, the happy harps when someone likes the lamb chops, the funeral music when the toast burns etc. MKR does have music, but it doesn’t dominate the scene.

  14. Cameron February 1, 2012 at 11:46 am -

Saw that too Jake, wonder what they’ll shuffle around (if anything?).
Please Marry My Boy has 6 episodes (5 to go obviously), will they wait until that finishes then slot Revenge there at 8:30?
HIMYM belongs on a Thursday, Better Homes & Gardens isn’t moving there yet I don’t think (AFL season starts in 7 weeks).
I actually don’t mind HIMYM on a Monday at 9:30 but it would rate better in an earlier slot.

Agree with the comments about MKR vs Masterchef too.
The food is nice and more achievable by a regular home cook.

  15. Allie February 1, 2012 at 11:25 am -

@Catherine, I agree. I think the MKR format is more enjoyable than Masterchef for the following reasons:-

1, Very little screen dominance by the two judges compared to MC where the three judges are shameless camera hogs.
    2. I prefer to see teams of two working together rather than chaotic teams of eight. I also like the fact that the teams are family, friends, partners, not just strangers thrown together and told to cook.
    3. We get to see the production process of each dish and each dish being eaten and critiqued.
    4. I love the settings, using peoples’ homes as the restaurant
    5. Very few tears and meltdowns by contestants compared to the non-stop bathos of MC
    6. Very little pandering to visiting celebrity chefs, whereas on MC they are treated like the second coming of Jesus
7 Much better casting of contestants, one thing Seven consistently does well with their reality shows

  16. Allie February 1, 2012 at 11:15 am -

Well, I think we can crown EB as The Renovators Mark 2. Except that TR rated higher numbers than this. Bad luck, Nine. You’ve been outmanoeuvred and MKR is going to be your nightmare for the next ten weeks. Given the amount of hype it’s been given, I’ll be interested to see whether Nine brazen it out and keep it at 7pm or whether they will dump it on Gem and bring back TBBT, a proven 7pm performer.

  17. catherine February 1, 2012 at 10:57 am -

I will tell you why I enjoy MKR over Masterchef

Firstly its nice to watch a cooking show where the judges arent screaming & yelling all the time.

We see what all the dishes are that the couples have cooked

They make the show different each season. I like the fact they have thrown a NZ team in.

Pete and Manu are better to look at. Anyway im enjoying this season so far 2 eps in.

  18. Happy_Aussie February 1, 2012 at 10:53 am -

The big winner between the two weight loss shows is the woeful MKR.

Guess we prefer to eat rather than loose weight :)

  19. Jake February 1, 2012 at 10:47 am -

Excess Baggage in trouble! MKR looks like it is gonna continue to dominate.

Saw promos for Revenge during MKR last night, saying ‘coming to Mondays’ so that could be interesting for Monday’s competition as well.

  20. Tim February 1, 2012 at 10:44 am -

Wow! I thought 9 had made a mistake sending in Excess Baggage against Biggest Loser once Ten made their play, and these figures really bear that out. That program is quickly going to be excess baggage for Nine and I’m tipping it’s only a matter of time until it’s dumped from the slot and replaced with BBT. Meanwhile, 7 and ABC are laughing all the way…

  21. bettestreep2008 February 1, 2012 at 10:31 am -

The big winner between the two weight loss shows is the woeful MKR.

Good to see Nine’s copycat Excess Baggage being beaten by the much better TBL.

  22. Happy_Aussie February 1, 2012 at 10:30 am -

Wonder what the AFI awards got … Must be low …

  23. JB February 1, 2012 at 10:29 am -

LOL @ Excess Baggage. Bad luck Nine. Think t’ll only drop more over the weeks. Biggest Loser wins the weight loss battle.

So what did the AACTA Awards rate?
