CSI franchise headed to TV1

TV1 has acquired the original CSI plus CSI: Miami and CSI: NY for Pay TV.

TV1 has acquired all three series, the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: NY from CBS Studios International.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the CSI franchise to the channel and to be an intrinsic part of the TV1 brand. The iconic music and characters sit perfectly within TV1’s Crime DNA,” said TV1 CEO, Peter Hudson.

CSI begins with double episodes from Season 1 at 8.30pm on Friday 13th April, continuing each Friday.

CSI: NY premieres Monday 16 April and CSI: Miami on Thursday 19 April, both at 7.30pm.

  1. @ Quebec – I agree on the W note (with programming such as Leverage, Burn Notice and White Collar appearing to men more then women). Your right that TV1 need to set a target audience and try and reduce the gap in their programming (90’s sitcom The Nanny to new epeisodes of NCIS), but while ever they classify themselves as a general entertainment channel it doesn’t matter. If, in the coming years, they decide to launch another channel (e.g. AXN) they can move some of the programming (e.g. NCIS, CSI, Law & Order, etc.) and remake TV1 with what is left (sitcoms, comedys, etc.). But unless that happens, nothing will change.

  2. @Josh- I get that, but I just feel that they have too much of a difference in their programming. Fox8 has comedy and drama, but in essence is a youth channel. While W is more of a drama channel, even though it’s meant to be for women (which it has long since outgrown). TV1 on the other hand is all over the place. I just feel that many of the entertainment channels on Foxtel still think their one sort of channel (retro, classic, women) but their programming says otherwise…

  3. @ Qubec – they’re a general entertainment channel, hence their varying genres of programs. They are similar to FOX8 or W who have programs from all genres.

  4. And yet again TV1’s brand is split. Are they a crime channel, a comedy channel or a channel for old school TV shows? Choose a genre and stick with it!

  5. When 13th Street first launched I asked them why they didn’t have the CSI franchise as it would have been the perfect content for their new channel. They said that another channel already had the rights. I’m guessing CBS was holding onto the rights until one of their channels wanted it (with CBS owning 33% of TV1 and also part of ELEVEN). I’m suprised it took so many years for it to start on an STV channel. Nevertheless, it’s a good pick by TV1 – now all they need is a HD channel.

  6. It would’ve being good if Ten gets CSI plus CSI: Miami and CSI: NY on their schedule as Nine’s being treating the show like (pardon me) shit in recent years but then it’s getting unpopular now these days unlike the past which used to be in the top 10.
