Dallas ….no, you’re not dreaming

The Dallas reboot gets a sense of humour, with a poster that harks back to 'Pam's Dream.'

Gotta love this poster shot for the reboot of Dallas in the US.

“They’re back …and no, you’re not dreaming” it declares -a clear reference to the famous occasion when Patrick Duffy (“Bobby Ewing”) returned to the show after his character had already been killed off.

The show revived “Bobby” by having Victoria Principal (his wife “Pam Ewing”) step into the shower one morning, to find her ‘deceased’ husband alive and well -thereby dismissing a full season as ‘Pam’s Dream’ and reverting all storylines back to where they were 12 months earlier.

The new version is a next-gen Dallas focussing on the offspring of the Ewing characters, but includes Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray reviving their characters with Brenda Strong (better known as the voice of Desperate Housewives). Maybe in a year they could convince Victoria Principal to step in and erase the entire first season as Bobby’s Dream? I’d go for that.

It premieres in the US in June.

  1. Nine has the right, so it will be on 2 weeks then bumped to a later timeslot or moved to GO! I never really watched the original, before my time. I’m not sure if this will work with new shows like Revenge and GCB.

  2. I didn’t realise Brenda Strong was actually playing Pam, I thought she was Bobby’s new wife. Well it’s good that Bobby and Pam ended up together, but ofcourse it would have been perferct if Victoria Principle was playing her.

  3. More damn remakes. Leave them alone networks and bring us something new. It does look interesting though. To whom picks this up i am pretty sure Warners is attached and Nine will be getting this one.

  4. As good an actress that Brenda Strong is, i would have loved to see Victoria Principal back in the role. She was no great shakes in the dramatic realm, but it won’t be the same without her. But if they could swap Barbara Bel Geddes with Donna Reed and then back to Bel Geddes, as well as that ludicrous dream thing – i will buy anything these program makers will dish up. I loved Dallas – mother of all prime soaps. New Dallas, New Prisoner. Everything old is….

  5. Sooooo looking forward to this!!! Channel 10 should pick this show up….with their track record theywill let one of the other stations pick it up and then it will be a tremendous hit!! lol!!!!
