LifeStyle Channels general manager to exit

Pay TV will lose one of its most successful channel managers when LifeStyle Channel's Nicole Sheffield heads to News Limited.

Pay Television will lose one of its most successful channel managers when Nicole Sheffield, who heads up LifeStyle Channels, heads to News Limited to oversee lifestyle division NewsLifeMedia.

Kim Williams, who was formerly CEO at Foxtel, has also appointed her to run news.com.au.

Sheffield has been general manager of the LifeStyle Channels for XYZnetworks for the past four years. During that time the LifeStyle Channels groups have introduced new channels and shows including Selling Houses Australia, Grand Designs Australia, Come Dine with Me Australia, Wife Swap Australia, Donna Hay: Fast Fresh Simple, Relocation, Relocation Australia and many more.

LifeStyle has also won a swag of ASTRA Awards as well as Channel of the Year on more than one occasion.

Williams said, “It makes sense to align news.com.au more closely with our online lifestyle brands, presenting a more integrated network of news and lifestyle to our millions of readers and helping drive traffic through these sites.

“While at Foxtel I worked closely with Nicole for a number of years, and became a great admirer of her leadership and style. She is a terrific executive, with a proven track record of growing lifestyle brands across multiple platforms and, I am positive, will be a great asset to News.”

In her new role Sheffield will be responsible for developing and directing business strategies across the NewsLifeMedia.

Sheffield said: “NewsLifeMedia has extraordinary brands that resonate with so many Australians and news.com.au has established itself as a leading voice in online news, particularly among younger readers. As we expand those brands into new areas, the future is both exciting and challenging. I look forward to being part of the News team.

“I feel very privileged to have worked on the LifeStyle Channels which has been hugely rewarding and a highlight of my career to date. I am leaving them in the capable hands of an exceptional team and look forward to watching them grow.”

Sheffield has previously shown he passion for lifestyle genre in interviews with TV Tonight.

“Our vision is to be the leader in Lifestyle and to achieve that you need to have a very strong brand and you also need to have productions that are local. You need to have talent and ambassadors who are local and you need to build franchises,” she said.

She begins the new role on Monday.
