Ever have one of those days when your studio rehearsal accidentally goes Live to Air?
SBS World News Australia presenter Ricardo Goncalves sure has, when this footage was broadcast to viewers in Adelaide and Brisbane on Thursday night.
Goncalves was bantering with his crew, in this very relaxed moment, which ended with the line “Let me know when you do so I can open my ass.”
SBS has since apologised in case anybody was offended.

Haha this guy went by the name “Richard” Gonclaves while he was on air at Sky News Business for a couple of years there.
He was born Ricardo Goncalves and is Portugese-Australian, last year telling TV Tonight: “Through school I chose to to be called Richard so I could be more accepted as an Aussie and fit in. Now I am 35, I’ve realised my name is who I am and Ricardo is who I’ll be. Better late than never.”
bahahahahahah….gold. i love the diversity of SBS presenters. has bob katter seen this yet?
No apologise needed.. that was awesome!!
Bloody hell – there was Plenty of time for someone to realise they were on air! At least we know the crew all get on so well! 🙂
@steve sydney … the tally light on the cameras is only triggered by the studio’s vision switcher in the control room – not by actually being on air.
And this is a prime example of why god invented pre fade listens on audio desks…
Ohhh dear , a warm prop speaks, 1st rule of television , never swear in an on air studio.
What an idiot!!!!
I knew my hunch about Ricardo Goncalves was right! I’m one step closer now…
CLass!
I agree with Kenny, I long for the days when there were people behind cameras and in master control etc. The switching centre is pathetic, maybe a couple of good humans in there to take control when computers try to reign, but they do not always go to plan.
he seems more than a little flamboyant
I’m sure all 6 viewers of SBS were not offended…
joke. Truthfully though aren’t there red light indicators on camera to let them know which is sending out a signal?
Oh for days past when real people actually monitored what was being transmitted, unlike now when anything can get to air, and not just for a few seconds.
It’s good behind the scenes footage. Generally the presenter will come in 10 minutes before going to air and the microphone will be fixed, followed by make-up and hair adjustment if required, and a quick rehearsal of the headlines before going to air.
