Radio ad dumped after complaint from Sarah Wilson

Subway has pulled radio ads after complaints from Sarah Wilson, who presents Eat Yourself Sexy Australia.

Subway has pulled its ads featuring a character talking about the eating habits of ‘Sarah Wilson.’

In the ad a female says, “Sure I envy Sarah Wilson. Not because of her glowing hair or flawless skin and perfect legs, dress sense or rich boyfriend. If there’s one thing I’d trade places for it’s her low fat Subway sweet chilli chicken sub.”

But Wilson, who presents Eat Yourself Sexy Australia for the LifeStyle YOU and is a former MasterChef host, told media website Mumbrella, “I’ve heard from several people who think I must be endorsing this. It’s the exact polar opposite of what I’m all about. It’s just packed with sugar. I believe they use my brand in such a way to suggest an endorsement.”

Wilson has also One of her fields of expertise is nutrition – she recently published an ebook called I Quit Sugar.

A statement from Subway said that the ad, created by Publicis Mojo Brisbane, had been intended to refer to a fictional character called Sarah Wilson.

The statement said: “Upon the request of TV presenter, Sarah Wilson, Subway Systems Australia (Subway) will today pull its advertisement for new Sweet Chilli Chicken sandwiches from radio.

“The name referenced in the radio script is a fictional character created by Subway brand’s advertising agency and is in no way related to presenter Sarah Wilson or any other individual across Australia named Sarah Wilson. Subway apologises for any confusion.”

  2. If I had heard that ad I would have said ‘Sarah Who?’

She’s definitely got a case of more recognizable face than name syndrome. Who knew she has a wealthy boyfriend. Well done gurl!
