Renewed: Smash

Music drama Smash wins 15 new episodes but there are behind-the-scenes changes.

Good to see music drama Smash has been renewed for a second season.

There will be at least 15 episodes, says a source at NBC as the show takes the Marilyn musical to an out-of-town tryout, in keeping with the life of most Broadway projects.

The show’s creator Broadway veteran Theresa Rebeck will retain her executive producer title but will not be returning as showrunner. No replacement has yet been confirmed.

To date, Smash has been averaging 7.7 million total viewers.

  1. I guess Smash can have an unending scope as it’s not just about the Marilyn musical it’s the behind the scenes so if the show goes for a number of years more musicals can be made bringing in new cast.

I saw Debra Messing on Letterman and she really didn’t explain it well, if I didn’t know it was a drama I would have thought it was a reality show.

    Now NBC please renew Parenthood!
