Shine Australia has appointed Peter Newman as its new Creative Director, responsible for all unscripted content.

Shine Australia has appointed Peter Newman as its new Creative Director, responsible for all unscripted content including MasterChef and The Biggest Loser.

Newman has had a busy twelve months having been appointed Head of Production and Development at SBS in June, then Head of Production and Development at independent producer WTFN in October. Yesterday WTFN announced a new Head of Production, Anee-Maree Sparkman.

As a producer in Australia and the UK, Newman has worked on large scale live sport events, reality series, documentaries and factuals.

At SBS he is credited with developing Go Back To Where You Came From and overseeing SAS: The Search For Warriors and Living The End. At WTFN he has developed TEN’s upcoming lifestyle show The Living Room. In the UK he worked for Outline Productions and BBC Sport.

President Shine Network & CEO Shine Australia Mark Fennessy said: “Peter is universally respected as a gifted content creator and program maker. He’s an exceptional talent and we’re excited to welcome him to Shine.”

Peter Newman said: “I am thrilled to be joining Shine and their outstanding team of people. I look forward to getting stuck in delivering some of the most dynamic and exciting television in Australia.”

Newman will commence in the coming months and report directly to Shine MD, Matt Campbell.
