South-Australians battle for My Kitchen Rules title

What is it that makes South Australia the one to beat in Reality culinary contests?

My Kitchen Rules will stage a battle between South Australian teams Nic & Rocco and Leigh & Jennifer tonight.

One of the two teams will walk away with $250,000 cash -bigger than the $100,000 awarded in the first two seasons.

South Australians are certainly showing their skill in TV culinary contests with MasterChef finalists Poh Ling Yeow, Adam Liaw, Callum Hann and Michael Weldon all harking from South Australia (along with beloved cook Maggie Beer).

Nic & Rocco defeated Victorian sisters Carly and Emily by just 1 point in a semi-final clash last night.

The pair managed 44/60 with Bird’s Nest Pasta, King George Whiting and Shellfish and desserts featuring Chocolate Mousse, Panna Cotta and Zuppa Inglese.

“We’re over the moon,” Rocco said. “This is a dream come true for us.”

Carly and Emily scored 43/60 with Scallops, a Duck Confit with Duck Neck Sausage and Panna Cotta  -the latter was declared the best dessert of the series.

Both teams had become close, with reports of a romance between Rocco and Carly.

“Our experience on My Kitchen Rules has been absolutely unforgettable. It’s like slipping back to childhood where we lived and cooked together. We’re walking away from the competition with more food knowledge and some amazing friends and memories,” said Carly.

Tonight’s extended grand final sees teams prepare a five course menu for a full restaurant.

NB: TV Tonight will publish My Kitchen Rules winners, minutes after they air AEDT. Please note this will include results via the site’s RSS and Twitter feeds. Please adjust accordingly if you are outside of AEDT.

  1. Yes, I’ve noticed how well South Australians do on these culinary reality shows. MasterChef has been dominated by SA contestants and finalists, and now MKR has an all SA grand final. Their number plates should read South Australia – The Foodie State.

  2. Could NSW & Vic move their clocks forward 1/2 an hour next summer & Qld join them! That way he eastern states will all be on the same time zone! That will stop all this annoying delays for Qld (I don’t even watch MKR, but this issue isn’t just for TV finals).
