I wish more people were watching The Good Wife, its such a brilliant show!

  2. D@GP March 1, 2012 at 1:29 pm -

Been looking for any result in the PayTV figures for the movie channels – surprisingly, they never seem to get a listing in the top 20.

Does this mean not many people subscribe to the movie channels on Foxtel, preferring to hire the DVDs on cheapie Tuesdays…?

And this season’s Sherlock has been a huge disappointment. Well, the first 2 anyway – time-shifted last night’s ep and will watch it within the week.

  3. MillerT1 March 1, 2012 at 1:08 pm -

Why the hell is American Pickers doing so well?

  4. andrewb March 1, 2012 at 11:50 am -

Everything you need to know about ratings boxes, the sample size, the universe, etc is on the OzTam web site.

  5. David Knox March 1, 2012 at 11:23 am -

Mr Alex: Good question, not sure there is an easy answer. Programmers tend to prefer demos. Media writers prefer high numbers. Both matter.

  6. Mr_Alex March 1, 2012 at 11:18 am -

Is it better for a show to have high numbers or high demographics?

  7. A. March 1, 2012 at 10:22 am -

I really loved Sherlock last night. If you didn’t see it it’s repeated on Friday on GEM (Ch 90 ) at 9.30pm. Also the DVD/Blu-ray is out today. I’ve always loved The Final Problem but this was just as powerful and masterful. Just brilliant.

  8. bettestreep2008 March 1, 2012 at 10:14 am -

uberempire – many years ago my family had a ratings box and none of the shows we watched featured in the Top 20 shows.

Not sure how many thousands of viewers we represented then and don’t know how many viewers are represented now.

I’m sure it’s been asked before – but how many ratings boxes are in Australia and how many viewers are supposedly represented by each one.

I know in Australia that we have more boxes than in America – or do we?

  9. uberempire March 1, 2012 at 9:51 am -

Maybe I should get a ratings box… 15 out of that top 20 I’ve never watched. Nor been interested in watching. Australian tv is getting worse than america.

  10. steve sydney March 1, 2012 at 9:50 am -

Okay Nine are officially failing with the endless Big Bang repeats..

Snowflakes chance of winning this year..
