2012 Logie Awards: winners

Hugh Sheridan, Asher Keddie, Adam Hills, Bondi Rescue, The Block are amongst winners at the 54th TV Week Logie Awards.

The stars have gathered at Crown Palladium for the 54th TV Week Logie Awards.

One Direction opened the Red Carpet with an ear-piercing performance as security battled to keep the hordes contained. This year media and stars struggled to be heard in pre-show interviews as fans of the UK boyband squealed their enthusiasm. Television’s “night of nights” threatened to be upstaged by pop music.

But the ceremony eventually got underway.

Flo Rida opened with Get a Good Feeling, the song that Young Talent Time used for all its promos. Nice plug. The room certainly was buoyant with Flo Rida even coaxing Sonia Kruger dancing.

Adam Hills was the first presenter, mimicking Angelina Jolie’s Academy Awards pose. Hills let fly with plenty of gags about One Direction, The Shire, Gina Rinehart, and Brynne Edelsten (why isn’t he hosting the show?).

  1. I’m disappointed that Giggle & Hoot weren’t nominated for best Children’s Program. By far it is the best Children’s program the ABC have on air. It’s very sweet and the host is absolutely brilliant.

It’s tolerable even for adults which is saying something.

  2. The sooner the Logies leave 9 & even Melbourne for a couple of years, just for a change the better.

Hamish & Andy beating AGT & S&S? I’m sorry but that stinks to high heaven.

The Block winning i can understand. It rated well & possibly the 2 cooking shows cancelled each other out.

  3. The media or someone should do a story on it, watch the telecast and count how many cross promotional references there have been. I get that they use it to spruke their new product but like I said, i’ve been watching it for years and i think this year it is the worst it has ever been and is way way way over the top! The ABC should have the telecast, Nine are and have been for a long time, running it into the ground!

  4. The Logies are basically one gigantic ad for Channel Nine now. The Voice was okay.

Anyone else notice that Nine relaunched their on-air look and website tonight? Looks like different shows have different colours.

  5. Are people really complaining about who won and who lost? Let me just remind everyone yet again, the only people who vote for this award show are tweenagers, bored bogan housewives and the PR teams for each network. This ridiculous “night of nights” is simply The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, minus the slime…

  6. @Ryan1890 well said

The block wins over MKR = dodgy
Gap year wins over AGT = proves that it is rigged by nine

I think nine would have to be the worst network for blatant cross promotion as far as tv goes I would like nothing more that to see cross promoting banned with heavy penalties for doing it

  7. Nice to see Nine rigging the votes for their own cross promotion.
The Logies were already shit with no credibility and the lousy voting system. Now it’s turned into a bigger farce with networks themselves doing all the voting.
Karl winning last year showed this, but now Hamish & Andy winning???? Really ??? Against AGT and Spicks…..
And the Block winning over Masterchef or MKR???
Would not be surprised at all if Hamish wins Gold just so Nine can justifiy paying him megabucks for a poor rating show.

And State of Origin for most outstanding sports coverage. Sorry but majority of the country got it on delay that itself makes it crap coverage. Seven’s Aussie Open coverage was excellent with using both 7 and 7two and showing it live.

  8. The cross promotion was horrible and I did not like the Jokea about the project/tens shares whilst Sonia Krugar was interviewing Carrie. As a gold logie nominee she deserved a fair interview but that bimbo Krugar could only muster lame jokes that should’ve been left for an opening monologue of the program and not to distract from a gold logie nominees interview

  9. Don’t you people understand it’s most popular in terms of voting??

    More votes = win!

Considering AGT has Kyle in it, I’m not surprised AGT got beat by Hamish and Andy’s 2 million radio listeners.

  10. @ryan1890 To be fair, I would think Ch 7 would be the same if they had the Logies (think how they cross-promote during the tennis). Plus ads for the winning programs have been airing for years.

Also, surprise wins are what makes any awards ceremony, history shows ratings do not always translate to Logie wins.

  11. I’m disgusted by the cross promotion. I know Channel 7 have knocked 9 off their ratings perch but I have never seen it as bad as it is tonight. Are they really that desperate? Plus I am honestly concerned about who is winning – Gap Year which hardly anyone watched beats Australia’s Got Talent? The Block beats MKR despite MKR airing during the voting period and doing bigger nightly numbers? Then the first promo after the Block wins is for the Block’s premier tomorrow night. Constant references to The Voice etc. This network is a joke and the way they’re handling the telecast is horrendous, they shouldn’t be allowed to show it again after the way the extent to which they’ve abused the priviledge tonight.
