Laverne and Shirley, Murphy Brown, In Living Color casts reunite

Laverne and Shirley cast members Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, Michael McKean and David L. Lander have reunited in the US.

The classic sitcom stars gathered for the TV Land Awards, alongside the casts of In Living Color and Murphy Brown.

TV Land Awards always recognises faded but memorable US shows.

Laverne and Shirley ran from 1976 to 1983 as a spin-off from Happy Days.

Since then Marshall has become one of Hollywood’s most successful female directors with Big, Awakenings, A League of Their Own and two episodes of United States of Tara.

Williams went on to rack up a handful of cameos in  7th Heaven, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and 8 Simple Rules, and also coproduced Father of the Bride and its sequel.

Host Kelly Ripa described Laverne and Shirley as “the original 2 Broke Girls” …..umm no, they were much more.

At the awards Katie Couric presented them with The Fan Favorite Award.

Also in attendance were the cast of Murphy Brown, Candice Bergen, Faith Ford, Grant Shaud, Charles Kimbrough and Joe Regalbuto and creator Diane English -awarded The Impact Award.

Whoopi Goldberg presented The Groundbreaking Award to In Living Color‘s Keenen Ivory Wayans, Jim Carrey, Tommy Davidson, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Kelly Coffield Park, Kim Wayans, T’Keyah Crystal Keymah, David Alan Grier, Carrie Ann Inaba, Laurieann Gibson, Lisa Marie Todd, Deidre Lang and Michelle Whitney-Morrison.
