Nine scores back to back ratings wins

Nine takes another ratings week with The Voice hitting a top note of 2.7m viewers.

Nine has enjoyed its second ratings win in a row, this time without the Logies event.

Nine hit 33.4% ahead of Seven 28.3%, TEN 17.3%, ABC 15.9% and SBS 5.1%.

Nine scored 8 of the week’s top 10 shows thanks to The Voice (as high as 2.7m viewers), The Big Bang Theory (1.62m), Beaconsfield (1.62m), Nine News (up to 1.5m for Sunday), and The Block (up to 1.44m).

Australia’s Got Talent was best for Seven (up to 1.53m) then Seven News Sunday (up to 1.4m for Sunday), Revenge (1.22m), Packed to the Rafters (1.21m) and Today Tonight (1.18m).

TEN’s best performer The Biggest Loser (up to 846,000) was #36. It was followed by Offspring (759,000), Modern Family (754,000), Touch (742,000) and TEN News (727,000).

New Tricks was again ABC1’s top show on 1.14m, followed by ABC News (up to 1.00m), Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (829,000) and Two on the Great Divide (715,000).

Who Do You Think You Are? was 414,000 for SBS ONE, then How to Cook Like Heston (388,000), and World’s Most Dangerous Roads (371,000).

Nine’s primary channel was 27.1% with Seven on 21.5%. ABC1 and TEN tied on 12.1% and SBS ONE on 4.4%.

7TWO and GO! tied to top multichannels on 3.8%, 7mate and ELEVEN also tied on 3.0%, ABC2 and Gem tied on 2.4%, ONE was 2.2%, ABC News 24 and SBS TWO tied on 0.7% and ABC3 was 0.6%.

Nine dominated the key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Nine won Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with Seven winning Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. ABC bettered TEN on Monday, Friday and Saturday.

Nine was victorious in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with Seven first in Adelaide and Perth.

While Nine is clearly on a roll, it still has a long way to go to come anywhere near the amount of back to back wins notched up by Seven and it knows it.

But again, it’s good for viewers to have healthy competition. TEN enters the fray with MasterChef  in a week’s time.

  1. @ roaringdave, I’m a fan of one particular network because I like a lot of their shows, whereas I detest another particular network because I worked for them in the past and they left a very nasty taste in my mouth. Having said that, I do watch some shows on the network I hate

  2. I really can’t believe that some people who post here are ‘fans’ of certain TV networks (unless of course they work at that particular network). I’ll watch whichever network plays the shows I want to watch. Do some people really just watch one channel all the time regardless of what is on?

  3. What are TEN going to do?

They really need to jump back on the reality TV bandwagon again and commission a new Idol and SYTYCD pronto!

With Nine bringing out Big Brother and Seven with X Factor, if TEN think “Come Date with Me” is going to compete then they are out of their minds.

  4. Nine might have won ratings on the Voice thank goodness a TV Production Company produced it… the Production Standards of the Sunday 6pm news…tragic tv, the quality of audio and badly editied insert stories… sad…

  5. Nine hits 27% in Primary channel share?! In today’s multichannel environment it’s amazing that 1 in 4 eyeballs have been on Nine this week. Well done!

  6. I must say that I am very surprised with the success of The Voice! I’ve only seen bits of it, mainly from channel surfing but I can’t see why Australia has really taken to this format. The one thing I don’t like, is that the contestants that I have seen, seem to be professional and been in the business or are still in the business. I’m pretty sure that you would be a good singer if you already appeared in the theatre or have already released cd’s.

As we’ve seen from other talent shows, getting your mug on TV doesn’t guarantee longevity in the music industry or even success!

  7. It’s not gonna be too quick of a recovery for Seven and look, Nine should be happy if they are able to stop Seven from pulling 7/8% weekly wins again.

  8. Ch9 have done well to win 2 in a row, but they are back to standard fodder tonight and it will be interesting to see how they fare. As for Ten, they really are stuffed this year and are just a one trick show pony with Masterchef, which luckily starts for them soon.Still at least it is a little less predictable for once…

  9. Its only early and with The Voice cutting back to 2 shows this week and 1 show from next week, Seven should be on the way back. It takes more than one show to win the ratings year. Seven will keep plodding along nicely and should be back on top very soon. Nine are going back to next to nothing again.
