Renewed: The Voice, The Block, Celebrity Apprentice.

You're hired. Nine renews three of its big brand Reality TV shows.

Nine has formally announced new seasons for Reality shows The Voice, The Block and Celebrity Apprentice.

New seasons of The Voice and The Block were already expected given there were media reports speculating about the talent show judges wanting to return and a Bondi property purchase for the renovation show. Both have hit the ground running with impressive ratings, with The Voice as the most successful show of 2012.

Nine caps off the Reality success with a third season for Celebrity Apprentice (four including the original non-celebrity version headed up by Mark Bouris). The three represent a reversal of ratings fortune following the failure of Excess Baggage.

Each series is produced by three different production companies: Shine Australia, FremantleMedia Australia and Cavalier Productions.

Michael Healy, Nine’s Director of Television, says: “These three series have proven to be huge winners with Australian audiences, so it makes sense to go around the block (pardon the pun) again with The Voice, The Block and Celebrity Apprentice.”

New editions of The Block and Celebrity Apprentice will begin filming later this year.

  1. @Bruce Banner – The Block is doing only slightly less than the comparable period last season. The second week in 2011 was: 1,440,000 / 1,337,000 / 1,275,000 and 1,188,000, whereas this week’s ratings have been: 1,430,000 / 1,270,000 / 1,218,000 and 1,109,000.

The Sunday night room reveals will be the big test with highs around 1.8 to 2 million last time around. At the end of the day, it is generally winning it’s timeslot so Nine have got to be happy.

CA is harder to compare, but it does seem slightly down as well.

  2. I hate the block this series, 10 episodes in and we have had only 2 episodes focused on the first weeks rooms. If I want a game show I will watch one. I dont want to see challenges at Luna Park or in Scott’s shed, I just dont care about the teams winning money and swapping houses…Go back to series one and keep it simple.

  3. Surely both The Block and C.A. are performing “under expectations”? What was TB averaging last season, I can’t remember.

C.A. is dropping numbers daily it seems, apart from last night due to the Hoff drama.
